 Her eyebrows raised as Gem handed her the box. It felt heavy and a few things moved around inside it whenever she placed it in her lap. Gem...She started quietly before reaching up to unwrap it anyways. The first thing she grabbed was a bottle. Birthday cake flavored Vodka was one she hadn't tried yet, but it sounded interesting. Better than a cake, right? She teased, picking up something else out of the box. Three bags of candy didn't tell her much, other than that Gem paid attention. Those would be helpful on the long car ride...or in the hotel. You know, whenever they decided to bust out the Vodka. The bear was adorable, even if it was a little girly, but it was the box at the bottom that caught her eye the most. A small necklace with the word love written on it in sparkling jewels with a hershey's kiss laid inside. I have no idea where we're going, but this is amazing baby. Her hand found his again and she squeezed it tightly. She would have kissed him, but the last thing he needed was for her to give him another reason to be distracted out on the road. |

"Well, I guess I can always put my jacket back on..." She teased, pulling her jacket over herself. It was a little cold in the car anyways but she didn't want to turn on the heater yet. She'd be out like a light in no time. "Maybe I'll just guess for a little while. The surprise is half the fun right? Besides we wouldn't have anything else to talk about after a while."
At the most random time, one of the songs from Dirty Dancing started playing over the radio. Sometimes she still couldn't believe that Gem had the sound track on his phone.smiling over at him, Dani looked around as the landscape of Yellowstone blurred by. "I'm not sure who is more anxious, me or you. They better watch it because we may just ditch town for good." Even the middle of nowhere was better than being stuck at Ashford forever.

No No That's okay...Damnit. He scowled playfully when she pulled the jacket over her. That's coming off when we get to our first stop. I figure I'd give you fair warning.He stared at the scenery through the windshield and couldn't help but wonder why anyone came to visit Yellowstone or Wyoming in general. He retrieved his energy drink from the cup holder.He smiled when 'Hungry Eyes' came on Yes! This is my jam. He started doing a silly dancing lip singing the words using his red bull can as a make shift microphone. Dani was probably the first girl to know that he enjoyed Dirty Dancing and all it's musical glory, not because he was embarrassed by it. He would totally own it no problem it's just he usually didn't let girls get close enough to find out anything about him in general. I Doubt Finley would be too happy with me if I took his new found twin away from him for good. Leaving town for good with his best friend didn't sound like a bad idea.

Of course she wouldn't have a problem with that if Gem was the one who packed. you know, Fin is the second person in like a day to insinuate that we don't have it together enough to prevent an accident. No faith, at all. Granted she didn't have as much experience in that area as people thought, but that was besides the point. How many people had she actually slept with? Two, including Gem. He might not actually know that because she frequently went home with guys, but it didn't go past making out. She dated, but she didn't sleep around. So, Seattle is out because it wouldn't take this long to get there, right? No more meet the parents incidents. Well they should, I've got preventing accidents down to a science. Sort of. Gemini had plenty of experience in the ways of preventing pregnancy and other things that came along with be a professional playboy. well, at least we can narrow down the magazines for her, right? Corset top or nothing. Kinda like that thing your ex fiancée was wearing. Poor Bambi. They would've made a cute couple, but Dani knew that she could have rocked that dress where Bambi....not that much. Part of her actually wanted to meet Gem's mom, but she was scared of it too. What if she did and loved the woman? His dad was actually kinda cool for an adult even if she wouldn't admit it. Dani was afraid of becoming part of a family just for them to turn her away.
A small smile graced her lips as she thought about it. Still, there was no use in lingering on it. You know, maybe you should go see her soon, like over winter break. I'll come with you if you want. Nursery splotches don't scare me that much. it was meant to be reassuring and she hoped Gem wouldn't read too far in to it. That could end horribly.

She knew what she was signing up for whenever she and Gem started this thing of theirs. its probably a good thing that we love you anyways. Stripper ex's and all. Placing her hand over his, she smiled when she saw the sign that they were leaving Yellowstone. They were finally free for a little while and headed in the direction of wherever Gem was taking her. so, if we aren't going to Seattle until Christmas, are we going somewhere warm?

He couldn't have been happier when the sign saying they were leaving Yellowstone appeared. He looked at the GPS not sure if they'd actually make it out of Wyoming that night even if he really wanted to Colorado was still a good eight hours away, he might have to give in and just stop on the border of Wyoming instead. Dani sat quietly for a few minutes, trying to figure out something she hadn't told her best friend before. Hadn't he drudged up most of her deep, dark secrets? I have an older sister named Aria and she's at the school under the name Kaelyn Page. I found her right before we left for Vegas. She said after a long moment. Surely she had said something at some point, but family wasn't a thing they talked about often. How about this. Every time I tell you something, you have to do the same. It'll help us pass the time until you finally give up and stop somewhere for the night. It was still pretty early though and they'd be driving for a while. You never knew how influenced he could be by that silly corset though.
She's beautiful. My sister. I'd seen her before of course because she's an RA...but once I knew... she's everything I had ever wished she would be. I just wish things were different. That we could've been a real family, you know? The state wouldn't tell them where her father went, just that he wasn't coming back. Maybe he was an alcoholic or a drug addict...that would explain why they'd been separated, right?

Interesting, I did not know you had another sister. It was horrible but the first thing that went through his head when she told him was to try and remember if he'd slept with a girl with either of those names, luckily he was coming up blank, not that it meant it Hadn't happened but at least it was less than likely.Her comment about wishing her siblings and her could have been a family made him sad and he distracted himself by staring in the rear view mirror, he always felt guilty for having a 'normal' life when everyone else seemed to struggle with their home life. Well, you'll have to introduce me sometime. Though unlike usual there was no insinuation in his voice. I don't know if there is something you don't know about me, uhm my dad is ninety five and you weren't always my only best friend?

Im sure she'd like that if we ever get past the differences. I mean, she's filthy rich and the most rule abiding teenager I've seen in my entire life. How are we from the same family? Kaelyn made her laugh though. They were almost exact opposites. Gem's revelation about his dad was interesting though. How does that work? Is that his power? That must've been hard growing up, because he really only looks like he's in his twenties at the least.
Logically she couldn't have been Gem's first best friend. He was sixteen when she showed up at Ashford and Gem was a social creature. It made sense and quite a bit of it. You were mine, but I'm surprised you haven't talked about them before. Are they at Ashford? What are they like? Now she was curious and Gem was probably going to get more questions than he bargained for.

He immediately decided even if he met her she'd probably hate him, it might be better not to. Uhm, Yeah so basically he just aged to a certain point and then it just slowed significantly.. obviously. Other than that I'm kind of in the dark about his life before like 1970. Our attic is like antique road show. It drives my mom crazy. He personally didn't understand why his dad didn't sell most of it but he didn't bother asking. Yeah it was obviously we had to keep it a secret so My parents had to watch their PDA in public and we just told everyone he was my older brother. It was hard on him because he had to listen to everyone whisper about my deadbeat dad who ran out on my mom and it's petty because like it's not really that big of a deal but I wasn't always the image of perfection that I am now.. He flashed his cocky at her, though she should already know at sixteen when he met he he had still be fit but not six pack fit. I was chubby and the girls would flirt with me and I'd invite them over and then they'd do nothing but oogle my dad and ask questions about him and want to sit outside and watch him work on cars. I'm sure guys with older brothers have to deal with that it's not that big of a deal. He brushed off he hadn't meant for the conversation to take a more serious tone he didn't liking showing any insecurities even if they were petty and this was Dani of all people. He was surprised by her bombardment of questions, maybe this was a bad idea. You might not be my first but your my favorite. He gave her a smile, he'd preferred to have kissed her but he wasn't sure it'd quick reflexes or not he still needed to be looking at the road. No they're not at Ashford, I haven't talked to them since arriving really. My parents didn't think it was best, powers and all. Anyway, they grew up down the street from me. It was a brother and sister the sister was older and if we're being honest she was probably the leader of the whole thing. She was insane but she was sweet when no one was looking. He smiled slightly he had always had a big crush on Missie though he wasn't sure where she'd ended up, if she was still alive. Her brother and I were really close, we just got into a ton of trouble all the time, like hot wire cars kind of trouble. His parents didn't care though which I guess was probably part of the problem. For all he knew both Ryan and Missie could have gotten themselves killed at this point, Maybe he'd have to ask Jasper once they got back to town if he'd heard anything. I didn't think it was possible but we've talked about me way too long. Your turn. He reached for his phone looking through his playlist for a different background song.

That's it, you're definitely going home at christmas if I have to drag you there, Gemini Cooper. Dani stated with a mock sternness in her voice. From the sounds of things he had been away for way too long and needed to go back as soon as possible. She felt guilty because she knew he stayed for her, even if she didn't ask him to. Alright, fine. We got in to some pretty deep stuff with you though, so I'm not really sure what to say.
The bear he had given her was sitting in her lap and she fidgeted with it nervously. There were a ton of things that he didn't know about her, or that she had only hinted at, so it shouldn't be this hard to find two or three. Let's see...I was on my way to the courthouse to be adopted when my powers manifested but ended up in jail instead, I've lived in seven foster homes but could walk to all of them easily because we always ended up in the same neighbor hood. Trying to find one more, she paused and held on to the bear tightly for a moment. This one was kinda big and might make him mad, but it was probably time to say something anyways with Fin and Aria around. and...well, I tell people some times that my dad is dead, but he isn't. He just lost his rights and can't take us back. No one will tell us why. He was born somewhere in Wyoming though. That's why I want to get out so bad. Having her long lost father stay lost was the best thing that could happen to her at this point. Whatever he did to lose them had to be horrible and she didn't want to stick around long enough to find out.
