[attr="class","wbascr1"]Spring was finally upon her. At least that what they kept telling. The driver of her family car was talking about how it had been so much warmer lately and Addison couldn't help but audibly groan. This is what passes as warmer here? Why, oh, why did her dad want her to attend school here so badly? She felt like she had been doing just fine in California and it would have been a real person's warm there.
It wasn't that she didn't care what the driver had to say, as he started in on some story about the sideways mountain and how it fell over or something. Okay, if she were being totally honest, she didn't care really. Addi dug into her purse and yanked out her earbud headphones, poking one of them into her left ear and setting her phone to play the most mainstream pop music ever on Pandora.
Bobbing her head to Bruno Mars, Addison didn't even notice when the car pulled to a slow and final stop outside of what must be the door detailed in her graduate college welcome packet. Aldrich Hall. The driver, she thought his name might have been Daniel, pulled her door open and she nearly fell out, not prepared for her support to suddenly be yanked away from her.
After gathering her thoughts, Addi stepped out of the car and smoothed her hands over her bright orange skirt, suddenly regretting her decision to not wear leggings this morning. The cool Wyoming spring air nipped at her bare legs and made her shiver. So before Daniel even got her suitcases out of the trunk she was at the door and running up the stairs.
Her heart was racing by the time Daniel had dropped off her bags and disappeared. She sat on her bed and looked around, trying to decide what to do now. It wasn't like there was much in this town and going outside wasn't happening with the weather the way it was right now... It is almost like a negating field. However if he is in contact with that person their powers are useless if he chooses. He can turn the power on and off at will. He can keep this up for a few hours. Granted he has to be touching the person. It does take energy to use the ability so if he is tiered or run down it doesn't work as well and sometimes not at all. If he uses it too long it can cause severe headaches and make him sick.

The wedding was driving the mans nerves more than usual lately. Maybe it was because he and Melanie were not really compatible, that and neither one wanted the wedding to happen so badly it was causing problems. This was really causing his temper to just short circuit at everything. When he was in school with Virg he was very chill and loved greatly. Sure he was still big on being the best but at least he wasn't a total prick. But the more he spent time with his father in the business world he had grown stiffer, almost an exact replica of his father without realizing it. Rich didn't notice till he arrived at the school and things started to fall apart. Now the entire family was there, there was an arranged marriage. What else could go wrong.
Well that and the employees on the other end of the phone he was on. He had given very simple but important instructions on a certain stock trade that was almost ruined because someone didn't act fast enough. Sure the problem was fixed but that didn't make the situation any better, not for the already agitated Richard. The lecturing turned to yelling as he was trying to get the point across to the incompetent people on the other end. He needed a break and at any other time he would have taken off to a club or some party and just let loose but that wasn't happening any time soon. His nerves were shot and he was more angry at himself for not finding a way out of the whole arrangement which put him at a permanent foul mood. At this point he didn't care who heard him. For the most part the building was void of most life. He didn't know that someone familiar had just moved into the room bellow.

[attr="class","wbascr1"]Over the course of the next hour, Addison started to unpack her bags. It seemed pretty lame to be the very first thing she did upon arrival, but what else was there? Shoving one of her designer jackets into the freakishly small closet of her roommates side of the room, Addison glared at the ceiling. If the last hour hadn't been bad enough, whoever was living upstairs seemed to be in the midst of a very long, very annoying, very heated conversation that was either on the phone or very one-sided and crazy.
It as impossible to know if whoever it was had heard her banging on the ceiling and just ignored her, or it she was just at a bad angle as she tried to balance on the chair and they just didn't notice, but it didn't really matter. What did matter was that she was getting more and more angry by the minute. Addi drug a box out of her closet and yanked into it, pulling out a large speaker system and setting it up on the top of a book shelf, pointing the speakers upwards toward the ceiling at what she had determined to be the perfect spot in the ceiling.
From the way the air conditioning vents were laid out, there was a perfect little box in a center of the room that shouldn't have any ducting and would end up projecting the music through the floor if the source was placed close enough to the ceiling. Grinning, Addi plugged her phone in to her now perfectly positioned bookshelf-speaker bitch-fest and cranked up Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars, On repeat. As loud as it could possibly go. And let me tell you, that was loud.
In a few spots, the granulated primers of the ceiling shook and fell, telling her that the floor above must be at least vibrating from the noise of her speakers. Nodding in approval, Addi bobbed her head to the music, swinging her hips and dancing as she pushed her suitcase under her bed and started to finish unpacking. The empty shelves on the bookshelf rattled from the vibrations of the song as it restarted. Addison giggled and muttered to herself, "Serves them right." Although she could not even hear her own voice at this point. As if the fates were mocking him, music started to erupt from the room bellow causing Rich's temper to reach the boiling point. Granted he hadn't noticed the pounding on the floor to get him to turn it down a notch thus making him believe that the person bellow had started blaring music for no reason. He hung up the phone, threw on some acquitted clothes and made his way downstairs to confront the person. If he had know who it was there was a small chance he would have attempted to even confront them. With a scowl he walked to the door of the room right bellow his and banged as loudly as he could on the door to be heard over the loud music. He he wasn't already ticked off he would have enjoyed the song, but with everything that was going on his nerves were shot.

Maybe the loud music vibrating the walls and shaking her bones wasn't making the desired impression on her noisy neighbor. She was sitting in the floor, leaning against the door frame so she would be able to hear if someone knocked over the pounding of Bruno Mars' silky voice.
Just when she was considering other options of annoying her new found nemesis, a knock shook her door and she couldn't help but smirk to herself. She stood up and counted to fifteen, not wanting to seem like she had been waiting by the door for whoever it was. Turning the door knob, she slowly opened the door and leaned against the frame,
"Is somethin-" Her snarky words were cut off mid-sentence as her eyes fell on an oddly familiar face. Addi raised her eye brows and looked him up and down, admiring him, "Well look who it is." She said in a sarcastic, pompous sort of voice. Addi crossed her arms in front of her chest and smirked, remembering how gawky and awkward she used to look and mentally comparing it to the short skirt, belly shirt babe she knew she was now. If he had to admit anything about the situation as the door opened was that the person behind it was quite gorgeous. Moments like this really made him regret having a fiance. Not that he wanted to be forced to marry anyone, let alone one he didn't really get along enough to be a real couple. At first he didn't know who the person was but when she spoke as if she knew who he was it made him think. Well sure his family was well known enough for him to be recognized but the more he looked at the the more he felt like he had met her before. He just couldn't figure out from where. He stood there arms crossed trying to figure out who this person was. He would remember someone that beautiful. Maybe a past fling? No that wasn't it.
His mind went back to a lanky not exactly attractive girl he met ten years ago. A real pain. It couldn't be the same person, could it? The more he looked at her the more he fully believed it was the same person. He could hardly recognize her. "Well I'll be. If it isn't little Ms. Emery. And here I thought I was meeting someone interesting" He smirked. His voice sarcastic and slightly bitter. Of all the people he could have run into, why here, why now and why did she have to be so good looking?

Rich wasn't trying to be subtle when he was checking her out as she closed the door and faced him. Rich leaned against the wall chucking at her comment. He had forgotten how much this girl would get on his nerves when they were younger but then again he would always return the bantering by annoying her back. If there was anyone he didn't care for at all it was Addi. Though he had tolerated it just because the teasing was fun. "Well certainly never boring" He grinned. "Well look who finally grew into their britches. Besides my Tailor is fairly competent unlike some employees of mine. Maybe I should give you his number looks like you could use some help fitting into that top" As much fun as teasing it was hard to not stare at the curves. She had no shape when they were younger, at least none he noticed. But now was a different topic all together.

Walking to one side like a vulture scoping out it's prey, Addi crossed her arms in front of her chest and tilted her head slightly to one side like she was considering something deeply, "Surely, Mr. Gaunt, you don't mind a girl showing a little skin." She spun around and sort of posed like she was trying to show herself off.
When she finished spinning, she smoothly leaned against the wall like that had been her plan all along and smiled sweetly, "Or does coming from such a genteel upbringing require that you show distaste towards the open display beautiful things?" When they had known each other before, Addison had not been particularly intelligent, as she had not obtained her ability at that time. But now, she was smarter than he could have imagined, and probably knew more than he ever would. After all, she was chasing a Doctorate degree now, which considering her young age was quite an accomplishment that she was sure he was unaware of. "I have no issues with skin darling. But when the top is trying too hard to to make up for what you lack then your wardrobe needs a little tweaking" He was very nonchalant about it. Sure it was harsh and not true in the least bit but he wasn't going to let her know that he found her attractive. Not when teasing was so much more fun not to mention easier. He had little idea of how much she had really changed over the years.
He had no idea of her ability or her going for her doctorate at such a young age. Rich never considered getting a doctorate himself. It was not expected. He would be fine with a masters in business. As much as Rich enjoyed business and numbers he would have loved to do more with language. Though it wasn't the path his father wanted so it wasn't on the agenda. Sure he strayed at times but for the most part lately he was playing his role as the main heir of the Gaunt Family. |

She didn't know anything and always pretended like she did, which made for some awkward moments of being proven wrong on a fairly regular basis. But now? Now she was brilliant. She wondered if Rich would assume she was still a fake know-it-all girl with no real knowledge.
Stepping forward so she was standing mere inches from his face, she grinned reaching up and wrapped her arms around his neck, "Funny you should say that, Mr. Gaunt." She said, his name becoming more of a taunt than just a way of addressing him, "Considering that I am fairly certain you haven't been able to take your eyes off of my..." She paused, looking down at her own 'shirt' for a moment for emphasis, "...Well..."
Before he could respond, she smirked and pushed him away, turning on the heels of her high top black Converse and heading for the stairs, "I'm going to a drink. Care to join me, Mr. Gaunt?" Addi asked her of shoulder as she reached the stairs. Rich just rolled his eyes when Addison said that he couldn't take his eyes off of her. Granted it was true, but he wasn't about to admit anything. At least not yet. In the back of his mind he could still hear his best friends voice telling him to cheat on his fiancé. At first he was totally against the idea but the fact that it suddenly came to mind wasn't a good sign. Why did she have to grow up to be so hot. Rich wouldn't turn down a drink especially with the insanity that the day had wrought. "I would never turn down a drink. So where to" Rich asked with is coy half grin.

For Addison, her ability was not difficult to master. The nature of Innate Capability is just that, after all. Mastering things. By watching things, Addison can learn how to do almost anything. For example, Addison became a successful and talents gymnast in her final year of middle school just by watching the Olympics.
There are a few limitations in this ability, making it less perfect than it sounds. Addison has to SEE something happen, be it in real life or in a video. In real life, she is limited based on distance, lighting, clarity, etc. If she is watching something in a video, there are many more reasons why something may not register including but not limited to camera angles changing too quickly, bad quality of video, movements too fast, video cutting away for artistic reasons, etc.

She spun around, her skirt flaring around her legs and probably showing more than she meant to, not that she really cared. She leaned on the window sill for a moment and grinned, "And ruin the surprise?" She asked in mock horror, "I wouldn't dare!"
With a giggle and a wink Addison was running down the stairs again, her Converse thumping on the covered steps at each foot fall.

It wasn't too far to town from the dorms on the Ashford Academy campus. She stopped in front of the only bar in town that Siri could find without breaking too many SPB laws. It was a little shack of a place with more bar than seating. The real gem of this place was the patio.
Surrounded by tall fences that allowed for some level of privacy, there were two outdoor pool tables and a nice covered area with a few picnic tables. The tables seemed to be convenient set up around what should have been a support beam in the center of the covered patio, but what had somehow become a community 'dancing pole'.
Even though it was only about four in the afternoon, they were not alone when they made it outside. The bar curved around the edge of the building and a bartender sat in a stool, watching a drunk girl hump the strippers pole and eventually fall flat on her face, giggling through the scrapes and blood. Her friends were cheering her on, all equally inebriated, and obviously a part of some pre-gaming bachelorette party gone wrong.
Addison laughed to herself as she sat on a stool near the bartender and crossed her legs gracefully, smoothing out any wrinkles in her bright orange skirt before ordering a Sex on the Beach with a twist of orange. Almost as her order was complete, a large man popped out of a door she hadn't noticed before and stooped to pick up one of the hammered girls. She was laying on the wooden flooring giggling and flashing the entire bar area, and Addi couldn't help but notice the girl's regretful lack of undergarment. Scrunching her nose as they watched the girl get taken away, and mumbled, "Shame she wasn't prettier. You could have really gotten a show." His ability works best through contact. He can negate others abilities if they are within three yards of him but it doesn't last very long and it takes more energy to do that. It is almost like a negating field. However if he is in contact with that person their powers are useless if he chooses. He can turn the power on and off at will. He can keep this up for a few hours. He wasn't entirely impressed but he didn't care as long as he could get a good drink. He looked at the drunk girl for a moment but turned his attention to the bartender to order some rum and coke. Granted if the girl was a bit more attractive and could actually use the pole correctly then he would watch. However an overly drunk girl with little to no coordination or skill wouldn't even bat his eyes. He had some standards and wasn't about to want to get with just any person. And even less likely since he was currently engaged. Rich wanted to get that thought out of his head.
"She shouldn't have gotten on the poll to being with. It is obvious she had no idea what she was doing. Not worth the effort of watching" Rich stated. "Maybe someone with some skill will show up, could teach you maybe" Rich was half teasing at the second part. Though part of him wanted to see what moves this new Addi had. The girl he knew would have failed horribly but maybe this new and hopefully improved Addison Emery could impress him. |

[attr="class","wbascr1"]Rum and coke. Addison wached teh bartender make the drink, finding it difficult to remember what she was grabbing to pour in to it. The feeling made her really uncomfortable. So uncomfortable, in fact, that she couldn't help but glare that the process, trying to remember what it was that the mixologist was doing. Addison had never had trouble controlling her power before...Shaking her head, she heard the shouting of the drunk girls on the other side of the fence and realized they had all been asked to leave after their friend was carried out by bouncers. She narrowed her eyes at Rich and shook her head, finishing her Sex on the Beach and setting the empty plastic cup on the bar, "Oh honey..." She said, jumping off her stool and sliding her arms out of her leather jacket, "You ain't seen nothin' yet." A grin graced her lips as she pulled down her top knowing full well that if she didn't try and fix it a little bit it would pop over her bra and she would end up being kicked out for indecent exposure.
Addison walked backward towards the pole, smiling at Rich like she was daring him to stop her. When she reached the pole, she wrapped one leg around it, completely aware of her Converse and how different it would be to dance in those, compared to the stilettos she had seen on the stripper at her best friend's twenty first birthday party. She leaned back, letting her blonde hair hang back as she arched her spine sensually, biting her lip as "The Hills" by the Weeknd came over the speakers of the bar.
Addison pulled from her memories a moment when she memorized the acrobatic dance moved of a dancer in her Vegas hotel, and another stripper she saw in Vegas. The images of the girls filled her mind and even though she had never actually danced on a pole before, she knew she looked really awesome. By the time the song was over, she was winded. Addi had not realized that it was such a work out to pole dance. Her orange skirt was hiked up a little and she was hanging off the pole, one leg wrapped around the cool metal and the other barely hanging off the ground. Tilting her head to the side and winking at Rich, she felt the Sex on the Beach start to sink into her system as she slid down the pole slowly and ended on the ground, giggling. Using the pole for support, and for one last sexy little trick she had seen in a YouTube Video once where she flipped over using only the strength in her arms and the pole, she shrugged and headed back towards Rich and his rum and coke, sitting down as if nothing had happened.
