His ability works best through contact. He can negate others abilities if they are within three yards of him but it doesn't last very long and it takes more energy to do that. It is almost like a negating field. However if he is in contact with that person their powers are useless if he chooses. He can turn the power on and off at will. He can keep this up for a few hours. Granted he has to be touching the person. It does take energy to use the ability so if he is tiered or run down it doesn't work as well and sometimes not at all. If he uses it too long it can cause severe headaches and make him sick.

He had to be aware of it to shut it down enough to not effect those around him. Usually someone would say something so it would dawn on him. Like if he was with his sister, she would always demand he shut it down or stay a certain distance away. Right then his mind wasn't on abilities, more so on the drink that was being handed to him. It didn't take long for his attention to shift over to Addison as she walked over to the stage. He sort of hated that he couldn't keep his eyes off the girl. This really wasn't that lanky fake know-it-all that he knew before. At least not the lanky part. The whole engagement thing went to the back of his mind as he held back ever desire to want to ogle at Addison.
He gave her one of his signature half smile as he took a sip of the drink. "Not bad for a Vegas girl" He told her, internally thinking it was quite a show even for a professional. He would pay good money to see it again, not that he was going to let her know. But he was really starting to see her in a whole other light. He figured why not have some fun. It had been a while since he had found someone worth messing around with. He used to be quite the playboy but since the family thing he had been fairly tame but he wasn't in the mood for tame at the moment.

For Addison, her ability was not difficult to master. The nature of Innate Capability is just that, after all. Mastering things. By watching things, Addison can learn how to do almost anything. For example, Addison became a successful and talents gymnast in her final year of middle school just by watching the Olympics.
There are a few limitations in this ability, making it less perfect than it sounds. Addison has to SEE something happen, be it in real life or in a video. In real life, she is limited based on distance, lighting, clarity, etc. If she is watching something in a video, there are many more reasons why something may not register including but not limited to camera angles changing too quickly, bad quality of video, movements too fast, video cutting away for artistic reasons, etc.

In most cases Rich would have been up to the challenge. If he was being honest just a few months ago he would have jumped at the chance to make her look bad, or just to show off. He wasn't even half bad. With everything going on though and there being a very stern eye always watching, Rich made a point not to do anything remotely scandalous in public. Even if there was very little chance of anyone finding out. He only smirked. "Nah, I'd rather leave you guessing" He finished his drink before ordering just strait whisky on the rocks. "Besides, I would never show my moves to just anyone. I'm more exclusive than that" He teased. Would it have been fun to strip and show off his excellently toned body from years of sports and just being overly concerned with looks and appearance, sure. Would he be happy to give the much improved Addison a show, most defiantly. He just needed a few more drinks in his system.

Addi narrowed her eyes, notably disappointed. She threw back her drink, finishing it off and rolling her eyes as she motioned to the bartender too bring her another, "And here I thought that Richard Salaz Gaunt IV was a daredevil." She said fiendishly, taking a provocative sip from the straw of her girlie beverage the second it was placed in front of her, "Turns out he is gutless. What a shame..." She sighed as if she were really disappointed, but honestly she was hoping this would end up being like reverse psychology. |

Gutless was not a word to describe Rich, at least not one he would use. The Gaunt heir would always take risks, maybe not right now or at least as much but still he wasn't going to stand for someone calling him gutless. He downed his drink and stood up giving Addison a slight glare with a crooked smile. he walked to the other side of the room where there was a group of three girls looking like they were checking people out. He walked over to the middle one and whispered something in her ear to make her blush. He then kissed her hand and walked off to sit back down where he ordered another drink and then one for the girl who didn't take long to walk over to them. He spun around in the stool handing her the drink and receiving a number in return. After turning back and taking a sip of the drink he looked over to Addison. "Classy not gutless, there is a difference dear" He smirked "Didn't even need to take my clothes of to make an impression" He sneered. Making her mad was always a fun thing to do.

It was really unreasonable the way this action on Richard's part made her feel. She frowned into the bottom of her fifth (or was it her sixth?) Sex on the Beach as she finished it off. The alcohol, now coursing through her system, made her head feel light and fuzzy. She knew, even now, that she would be blaming it for whatever trouble she got in to tonight.
Addi sucked down almost half of her seventh drink before hoping off the bar stool with an air of competition about her. She walked past Richard's bar stool closely, biting her lip as she whispered, "Blue plaid, six o'clock." Without waiting for a response, Addi made her way to the other side of the bar and leaned against it sweetly, making eye contact with the good-looking man in the blue plaid shirt before looking away, feigning a shy smile. She knew at that point she wouldn't even have to go to him. She turned her back to him and leaned across the bar to talk to the bartender, standing up on her tip toes as if to accentuate her legs. Before she could get her drink order completely out, she saw a flash of blue plaid block her direct line of sight to Rich. The man was placing a twenty o the bar and grinning like an idiot down at her. She picked up her drink and smiled, spouting some nonsense small talk as she made her way to a tall, round table so that Rich could see her, and the man, clearly from his seat.

His actions were more alcohol induced now more than before. Which is why he couldn't quite explain the stirring feeling he got when he watched Addison start flirting with some common drunk. Two could play at that game. Rich downed the fifth drink of his before having the bartender to pour him another drink and a martini for his next target. He stood up caring the drink to a lovely brunet in a short black number. He handed her the drink with his signature smile. She started to giggle as he asked her to join him. He made sure to smirk at Addison, challenging her to do better as he guided the girl to a table. He caressed the side of her face as he moved a strand of hair out of her eyes. He engaged in the small talk making sure that they were seated within sight of Addison. If she wanted to play this game he was more than willing to play along. He didn't mind the whole flirting and drinking scene. He moved closer to the girl when she placed a hand on his arm as she talked. He wasn't really paying attention but he acted like he was. She didn't seem to noticed the difference. It was her moved now.

Was he talking about trucks? No. He was talking about his mother's truck. Uhg. This guy was...She had a bright smile on her face ever though she knew it didn't reach her eyes. What the heck? That girl Rich was talking to do a Grade A bimbo. It was obviously that she was completely stupid. As blue plaid kept on jabbering about something she didn't care to listen to, Addison chewed on her lower lip and pretended like she knew what the brunette girl was saying to Rich. She was sure it was something about her top, which dipped low down her back showing way more skin than it should and glittering with the annoying sequence that get all over you skin if you go within five feet of her. Blue Plaid had asked her a question, or at least she assume her had because he was now looking at her expectantly. She gave his an apologetic look and tried to reconcile with him, but he was clearly annoyed.
To get out of the awkward situation, Addi apologized again and stood up, trying to decide what she needed to do next. Obviously the picking in her were slim and there was no way she would win if she were to get with someone in this room. But she was so competitive that she couldn't accept losing without at least hindering his chances to win. She narrowed her eyes and grinned before stalking over to the table Rich and the brunette bimbo were sitting. She put on an upset face and slammed her drink on to the table, "You are here!" She screamed dramatically, making her lower lip quiver, "You said you were studying! You said you couldn't hang out! And instead, you're here cheating on me...again!" Like any well trained actress, Addi's squeeze out a fake tear ad it trailed down her face as she turned her burning gaze to the brunette girl. She looked like she was about to be sick. Without a second thought, she hoped off the table, grabbed the drink Rich had got for her, and scurried to join her friends.
After she was long gone, Addi wiped the single tear from her face and burst into a fit of giggles. A number of girl's at neighboring tables got up and moved away awkwardly, showing that more than just the target had heard Addison's little rant. She giggled some more and stood next to the table, not sure she would be able to get into the bar stool if she tried, "Ha! I win!" She giggled, leaning too far forward and nearly knocking the table over before falling face first towards Rich. |

Rich kept his cool composure as he listened to Addison's rambling. He would have spoken up or try to play along but he figured it wasn't worth the effort considerinthe girl was already angry and stormed off. He didn't care considering he didn't even remember her name. "Considering how Mr Plaid overthere looks you just sabatoged your own win" Rich teased before catching her as she fell forward towards him. Rich stood supporting Addis weight. "Maybe you were jellous" He teased before helping her to a bar stool. Rich paid for the drinks and had the bartender call a cab. He was starting to feel the effects of the drinks and knew driving wasn't an option. Figuring he would do something nice he walked over to the plaid shirt guy and pointed him in the right direction of the girl he was talking to. Maybe they would get along better. Rich wouldn't have minded if the little game had continued but seeing as Addison wasn't going to play fair there wasnt much left for them to do there at least.

She grimaced like she had been in real pain when she was talking to Blue Plaid, "I think he lives with his mother. Poor baby..." She tilted her head to one side, her voice getting quieter because of how close they were, "But what on earf is ther to be jellus of? Some gross bimbo? Nah, I'm more impressive than THAT." |
