Ryan had been staring at his suitcase debating on what else he could manage to pack for his trip back home that he wouldn't need over the next couple days when he had decided it'd be a great idea to get on Calloway's chat to see what was up. Unfortunately he had only found a mess of Raelynn and Gemini fighting and Dani being a bewildered as he was. It hadn't been long after that that Raelynn had called him drunk and lost, though it hadn't taken him too incredibly long to figure out she must have found her way down by the hot springs. He shrugged into his leather jacket and grabbed the only other jacket he owned for Raelynn like promised. He slid into the drivers seat of the Ford pick up that he had been borrowing from the shop. He wasn't too familiar with Yellowstone but he had a rough idea where the hot spring was at least. Starting the engine he headed in the direction he thought it would be. Getting as close as he could, he parked the truck and got out so he could walk the rest of the way. He immediately noticed the warmth of the air despite the winter season and it made him feel nice and at home. Unlike his best friend who was a true northerner Ryan had come to appreciate the warmer climates. Maybe, he should move to Phoenix. He tucked the Captain America hoodie under his arm. He had no idea where Raelynn as he started to walk through the hot spring, his boots squishing where the snow had melted leaving a slushy mess on the ground. Rae! The world around her was kind of fuzzy and she wasn't 100% sure where she was at. Even though it was slightly warmer where she was, the sting of cold air on her bare arms was still uncomfortable. She couldn't feel the tip of her nose and she was sure that it was probably red, if not from the chill than from the drink. She was sitting on a bench off the edge of what she guessed was the hot spring. At least that is what Ryan assumed from when she heard on the phone. She tilted her head to one side, leaning it on her own shoulder like that might be a more comfortable way to rest. It wasn't though.
Looking down at her lap, Raelynn tried to remember how she got here. There was an empty bubblegum vodka vodka on the ground at her feet and she kind of recalled trying to push the bottle away from her face when some guy offered it to her. If she was remembering correctly, she had a jacket on when that was happening. But after that, she didn't remember anything. That's what she gets for going in to the city to party. Things never end quite the way you want them to and generally it goes very wrong.
Raelynn moved to adjust the rubber bracelets she had lining her wrists and arms and straightened her Rolling Stones t-shirt as if doing mindless actions would make her remember. She reached up and ran her fingers along the cheap plastic choker that was around her neck. It was like something that would have been popular in the 90's. She tried to remember putting it on and she had a vague recollection of the action, but otherwise everything was a blurry black slate until she was typing angrily into her phone in the Calloway Chat. Was someone coming to get her? She couldn't recall if she had actually talked to Ryan or if maybe she had just thought about calling him.
Her name echoed across the springs and caught her attention. Through the fog that clouded her mind she forced herself to look at the she could see him at the bottom of the ramp that led to her bench, "Ryan?" She tried to call out, but the sound came out more like a cough that a word. She cleared her throat and tried again, "Up here!" Thankfully she could make out the words the second time. CLOTHING |

He heard Raelynn's voice call out to him, his eyes traveling toward the sound of her voice. His eyes landed on the bench at the top of the ramp he was standing at the bottom of. He shook his head as he drew closer to her, as if her phone call hadn't been enough to tell him she was drunk, the state that he found her in was. Hey..You alright? He asked an eyebrow raised as he tilted his head to the side. Brought you this. He said holding out the Captain America pull over Sorry, It's all I had...Oh!and this He dug in the pocket of his jacket pulling out a bottle of water along with his pack of camel cigarettes. He placed the bottle next to her on the bench and finished a cigarette out of the pack. Placing the cigarette to his lips, he lit it and inhaled. So, You've had a night. He said exhaling a cloud of white smoke.

It didn't take Raelynn long to get the hoodie pulled over her head, despite her obvious drinking problem. She looked at Ryan, who sat next to her and smoked. She wasn't sure if he was mad at her or not, "I guess I must have." She said in a low voice, coming down off the of raging anger she had felt when she was send that world's longest messages to both Dani and Gemini. Her phone was long in the mud at her feet, a melted mess of plastic and metal.

Ryan slouched forward resting his forearms along his thighs. Sitting in silence he brought the cigarette to his lips he inhaled slowly and exhaled again, watching the thick cloud of smoke twist and swirl in front of him; half of it cigarette smoke half the the effect of his warm breath against the cold air. Noticing the melted piece of plastic he kicked at it with the toe of his boot Cell phone? That happens to me too... Gem had to help me pull melted keyboard off of me the other day... He gave her a side ways glance So, How'd you even get out here? You didn't drive did you?

Raelynn couldn't even laugh about the keyboard thing. Not that it wasn't funny and completely relatable, but she just felt awful. Her stomach felt like it was doing somersaults, her head was throbbing like a sub-woofer, and her whole body was sore and broken feeling. She raised her hand up to her neck again, "I don't even know." Her eyes teared up and she bit her lower lip to keep from sobbing, "Something's not right. I can't remember what happened tonight, and not in a good way." She started shaking and flames started to swirl around her hands as she held in the sobs. It was another one of those moments when her emotions were about to fuel a power overload.

A look of concern came over his face when she said she didn't know how she'd come to be out in the hot springs, in winter, drunk. He'd seen similar situations with his sister before shed taken off and it was never a good explanation. Noticing she was obviously upset he wrapped an arm around her shoulders Don't stress.. We'll figure it out okay.. Ryan he said quietly in an attempt to calm her at least, though he wasn't sure they'd actually figure it out. Sometimes once those memories were gone they were just gone. Catching the orange flames that started to swirl around her hands, he knew that problem all too well. Moving his arm away from her shoulders, he placed his hand over hers the fire touching his skin but only warming it Seriously, Rae it's okay, you're okay if he was being honest was wasn't sure she was okay emotionally at least currently.

There was something volatile, destructive, about her powers. She could feel the heat building in her gut, spreading to her fingers and her toes and making her eyes flare orange and golden flames behind the surface. When the tears finally overflowed, they sizzled and evaporated off of her face and she closed her eyes, flinching at the sound. Raelynn turned her whole body and wrapped her arms around Ryan's waist. She buried her face in his stomach and tried her best not to cry, but there was nothing she could do to stop it. The fire was spreading around her now and she found herself thankful that she couldn't burn Ryan, "I'm sorry." She cried, tightening her grip around his waist, "I'm sorry."

Ryan held his hands up in surprise when she arms found his waist. He could feel the heat coming off the flames the spread around her but it didn't bother him, it felt like the equivalent of standing in front of a fire place, almost comforting versus uncomfortable. He had a confused look on his face as she apologized though she couldn't see it. Rae, whatever it is it's okay... he wasn't sure if she was apologizing for being mad at Gemini, being drunk or something else he hadn't quite figured out. He moved to rest his hand on her shoulder seriously, babe calm down He mentally groaned to himself for he really just call her babe.

Raelynn sucked in a deep breathe and forced herself to calm down. They sat in silence for a few moments as she collected herself, still with her arms wrapped around his waist. After she stopped crying, Raelynn pulled away and looked at him. Fire was still swirling around her but it was more contained, less chaotic and more beautiful and aesthetic. She smiled sadly at him and her eyes still danced with flames that glittered and glowed, "Babe?" She said finally, her voice teasing him.

Ryan moved to run his fingers through his dark hair Ehhh..Lets just pretend I didn't say that or you didn't hear it. He said quietly looking away from her. He took another puff off of his cigarette in attempt to ease his own awkwardness. After a moment he turned to look at her becoming mesmerized by the fire that danced around her, maybe it was because fire was just kind of his thing but He wasn't sure he'd ever seen her look more beautiful than right now. He shook his head as if to shake himself out of a trance Anyway.. He said softly remember why he was out here in the first place What's going on... ? He obviously knew the basics from the chat and phone call but he preferred to get the whole story now that he was here with her in person.

Ryan heaved a sigh, He had no problem admitting that his best friend was an ass. Gemini was selfish, loud, in your face, he didn't care for the way Gem jumped from girl to girl, not that he thought everything had to end in relationships but his friend took it to the extremes. Regardless of all of Gemini's flaws he was still Ryan's best friend. I know he hurt you or whatever and I'm sure you have every right to hate him.. Ryan trailed off, he felt like he had to defend Gemini at least a little bit, for 15 years of friendships sake. but He's not that bad. He's just Coop... Ryan wasn't sure how else to describe it.

Raelynn wanted to understand. She wanted to let it roll off of her back and laugh and say that she knew that he wasn't so terrible. But she didn't. She couldn't. She pulled away from Ryan and shook her head, "This was an awful idea." She said in a sad voice, frowning, "Why did I ever believe that you could be on my side?" She stood up and started toward the ramp. As she reached the railing, Raelynn paused and grabbed the hoodie along the bottom and pulled it over her head, tossing it at Ryan, "I am leaving. I need to think about everything." Her voice was calm and flat, void of all emotion.

Ryan sighed catching the hoodie when she tossed it at him. He dropped the cigarette in his hand to ground, putting the rest of it out with the toe of his combat boot as he moved to his feet. Raelynn... He started though he didn't move from his spot from bench Coop is my best friend, Hell he's really more like my brother, but that doesn't mean I don't care about your feelings, and you've obviously got a lot. Ryan sighed defeated, He felt conflicted between a girl that he really liked and feeling like he might be the only person in Calloway willing to stand up for his best friend. You should at least let me give you a ride. It bothers me enough that you don't know how you got out here, at least let me make sure I know how you get home?
