Somebody shine a light i'm frozen by the fear in me
Anxious was not quite the word she would use to describe how she felt. Nervous, a little, but more so excited. She had been planing this date since stargazing had been mentioned. She was gathering everything from the dorm. It would have felt empty if she wasn't used to Dani not being there recently. She hoped her roommate was having fun on her week away. Raven had placed some copies of the class notes on the girls desk that she was slowly gathering. Raven finished packing the picnic basket. She had a bottle of Merlot as well as a small bottle of scotch if Seth wasn't much for wine. She also had a small assortment of fruit and cheeses as well as a sliced up french baguette. She wanted to do something simple but nice. The last thing she needed to do was pack a couple of napkins and some glasses. She decided on a couple stemless wine glasses and was satisfied with the finished product.
She finished getting dressed making sure to put on some nude color leggings so she wouldn't freeze in the dress. Taking a deep breath she left the dorm room and headed to the boat shed. She knew it was against the rules to use the boats after hours but she was also going to be out after curfew but she really didn't care at the moment. She had already set up the boat with cushions. She had picked the larger motor boat available. She knew the best spot to see all the stars was in the middle of the lake. It was close to sunset as she placed the picnic basket in the boat. She walked across the dock to see if Seth had arrived yet. She said to meet her by the boat shed and it was almost sun set so she hoped he would show up. If not she would just enjoy the night by herself but that really wasn't the point of the whole excursion.

Seth has the ability to crawl up walls and other things. He's your regular real life Spiderman. His powers can benefit him in the element of surprise and also aid in avoiding attacks. It allows him to move quickly from building to building as long as the jump isn't too far apart. It's also beneficial in getting those top shelf items. One of the downfalls is that it isn't very helpful when he needs to be on the offense. Also Seth isn't always sure footed and has been known to fall and break a few bones. Luckily there isn't much Seth has to do to keep his power in check

And Starting Conversation" Seth had been so nervous about his second date with Raven that he had texted Gemini asking for fashion advice as which Gem had replied that he told Seth he'd have to dress himself some day and if he was really worried to track down Dr. Cooper for help, Seth decided against that, his interactions were limited with Dr. Cooper and showing up asking the man to dress him would be far too awkward. He couldn't recreate the smoothed down look Gem had created with his hair so he opted for a beanie. Gem would have been less than pleased with him settling on a Captain America hoodie and beat up converse but he did manage to remember the belt Gem had given him and he even secured the excess in the belt loop. He had gone to the kitchen to pop some popcorn on the stove, microwave popcorn was horrible for you and he had stopped eating it ears ago. He placed the popcorn in a container before shoving the container in his backpack and headed out toward the lake, his skateboard in hand. He took his phone deciding Death Cab For Cutie would sing the soundtrack to his ride before he placed the earphones in his ear. He fished his cigarettes out of his pocket lighting one while he skateboarded in hopes it would calm his nerves. It wasn't long before he had reached the area around the lake and could no longer go on his skateboard. He made his wave down by the boat house looking for Raven. When he spotted her the nervousness the cigarette had convinced him he had lost returned. She looked amazing and he wished he had found Dr. Cooper now. Wow, You look really pretty.. Raven was relieved when she saw Seth heading towards her. She waived to him as she took a deep breath to calm down somewhat. Her heat was racing and she didn't want to appear overly nervous. She gave him a warm smile when he complimented her appearance. She liked to dress up when going out. Usually she wore causal attire when at home or in the dorm which was always so when she had the chance she would dress to impress so to speak. Granted when she was still living with her family she dreaded the times when she had to wear the fancy clothes. It only meant another even where she would have to fake a smile and be surrounded by all the lies. This was different though, she had put all of that behind her. With her brother in town it really through her off but she wasn't going to let that get to her not today.
Raven found his causal appearance quite adorable really. "Thank you. I like your hoodie. More of a Hulk fan myself, but Captain America is really cool" She might not have been a huge comic book reader but she did know of the main figures. She really liked the ones that had a parallel to classic literature. Those were the more appealing ones to her. "Let's hurry. I want to get close to the spot before the sun sets" She stated with excitement in her voice. The sun set over the late was a beautiful sight and she didn't want to miss it.

Yeah the Hulk is cool too. The only super hero said had a real distaste for out of the main icons was superman,he always found him to be lame and obviously Spiderman was one of his favorites once his powers had manifested since now he felt just a little bit like a very very lame Spiderman. He smiled at her excitement Yeah sure lead the way. I brought the popcorn. He held up his backpack. He stored his skateboard against the side of boat house before following her. "Great" Popcorn was the best snack food ever, at least for her. She led Seth to the boat that she had prepared. The bottom was fully lined with cushions and blankets to make it more comfortable and to keep warm. It was set up like a picnic just in a motor boat. She motioned for Seth to take a seat before she untethered the boat from the dock and carefully got in herself. She to a seat by the motor. She had been driving boats for a few years. Her family had a few and one thing that she enjoyed doing was driving one of the speed boats, mainly because it helped her get to her favorite swimming spots when the family was traveling or just spending the summer on the yacht.
"Hold on" She teased before starting up the motor. It was very easy to steer and for the most part it was a sooth ride. The night was clear and the water very calm. It was the perfect night for stargazing and she was very glad for the nice weather. It didn't take long to reach the middle of the lake. Raven shut off the motor and released the anchor before taking a seat among the cushions. "The middle of the lake it the best view for the stars. Also the sunset is quite spectacular. Hope it's alright" She asked.

Seth had been on a boat a few times over the years, you couldn't be from San Diego and never be on a boat it just wasn't a thing, but had never had any desire to drive one. He laughed when she told him to hold on I'll try not to fall out. though he did actually hold on to the side of the boat. Looked around when the boat came to a stop where Raven had decided was the best place. Yeah no, this is fine. The sunset really is beautiful. He pulled on his beanie trying to cover a bit more of his ears knowing it would get cooler once the sun sank down. So, Uhm how was your day? Hows Onyx?/]

She really had gone all out with the boat thing. She hadn't done anything like it before and was really just relying on what she had read in books for inspiration. She did feel relieved when he said it was alright. She was worried that he might not like boat rides or the whole over the lake thing would be weird. She loved the water. Her favorite hobby besides reading was swimming. Raven should have expected him to ask how her day was. It was a basic conversational topic. "Boring as always to be honest. This is the most exciting thing I have done. I am kind of one of those good students that goes to class and then goes to study" She chuckled slightly at her answer. It was true her day to day routine was very basic. "Onyx is good I'll let him know you asked" She teased. "What about you, how was your day" She returned the question with a warm smile.

As much as Seth like to go to parties he preferred the few friend gathering kick backs then the full blown party that it seemed most of Raven's friends enjoyed. My day was pretty boring as well, I went to class, went back to my dorm watched some movies, took a nap. and here I am. He unzipped his back pack pulling out his drawing pad sitting it next to him and the container of popcorn holding it up It's organic. but I promise it's still good. His phone vibrated in his pocket and he dug it out of course it was his sister, he had cancelled their movie night to hang out with Raven. "You're right, boring can be nice" Raven figured since her friends were so wild maybe it was a good thing that she was the boring, or rather the calm one. Sure she could be energetic, sarcastic and overall fun but only with people she really trusted. She really didn't know how to act around Seth. She did like him though but this was still uncharted waters for the girl. "Organic food always seems to have a better taste anyway" She said. She did prefer to get organic or food strait from the source. The fresh taste was the key. She brought the basket she had packed out and opened it. "Help yourself" She said as she opened the wine bottle to pour herself a glass. She did notice his phone and figured it was best to just not mention it. She figured it was his sister from what Dani had mentioned. It wasn't a subject she wanted to bring up, if it came up then so be it. "So I am going to throw this out there. I have no idea what to talk about in these situations. Most things to mention are kind of taboo at Ashford so I am at a loss" Raven had a large grin and her words were more playful than nervous. It was true, she really didn't know what to ask when on a date with someone.

The irony wasn't lost of Seth that he concerned himself with the chemicals in his food but was a borderline alcoholic who smoked a pack a day. Awesome He looked over the basket and pulled out the bottle of scotch looking it over. Seriously Raven this is really nice. He open it pouring it in one of the glasses she had brought. He gave a small laugh he knew exactly what she meant about conversations at Ashford it seemed like you always needed to walk on egg shells because everyone had some painful secret. Raven was glad that everything seemed to turn out all right. She was clueless about how to put it together but after some reading she figured this would do. Open communication. That was a good thing and she was glad that he was so open about it. It meant that she could ask anything with worry of offending or upsetting Seth. She wasn't about to ask any questions that she would not answer though. What did she talk about with her friends? Usually it was about them or some drama here and there. This wasn't that type of conversations. "What do you want to do when school is over. Like college, military, future goals?" Raven figured it was a good starting point. She knew what she wanted to do. At least she knew what degree she wanted to get, it was just a matter of what she was going to do with that degree. She looked over to the horizon as the sun set. It was still a wonderful sight to see the sky grow dark then slowly small lights would appear in the sky. The best part of being on a calm lake in the middle of the night was that the stars would reflect on the water surface and it gave the illusion of being surrounded by stars.

Seth has the ability to crawl up walls and other things. He's your regular real life Spiderman. His powers can benefit him in the element of surprise and also aid in avoiding attacks. It allows him to move quickly from building to building as long as the jump isn't too far apart. It's also beneficial in getting those top shelf items. One of the downfalls is that it isn't very helpful when he needs to be on the offense. Also Seth isn't always sure footed and has been known to fall and break a few bones. Luckily there isn't much Seth has to do to keep his power in check

Though Seth usually showed up for class and was overall a decent student he hadn't put too much thought into what he was going to do after Ashford, he had planned on going back to San Diego but unless something crazy happened with Rory than he'd have to to stick around at least another year until She graduated there was no way he could leave his sister behind. Ultimately it would be cool if I could write and illustrate my own comic but we will see, maybe become an art teacher if I eventually have to choose something practical. I'm okay being a starving artist though. I know once Rory is done with school we will probably head back home. He watched as the sun sunk down along the horizon taking another sip of his drink What about you? Something to do with animals? CONTROLLING IS A BIT DIFFERENT. IT ISN'T A SPOKEN COMMAND IT IS MORE OF A MENTAL ONE. IT TAKES TOTAL CONCENTRATION AND SHE CAN'T CONTROL AN ANIMAL FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR, NOT THAT SHE WANTS TO. ANY LONGER AND IT CAUSES MASSIVE HEADACHES, NOSE BLEEDS AND IN SOME CASES SHE WILL PASS OUT BUT THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN TILL THE TWO HOUR MARK. THE SIMPLER THE COMMAND THE EASIER IT IS TO CONTROL THE ANIMALS. RAVEN PREFERS TO JUST ASK THE ANIMAL IF THEY ARE WILLING TO DO SOMETHING RATHER THAN CONTROL THEM. IF HER CONCENTRATION IS BROKEN SHE LOOSES CONTROL.

"That is good to follow your passion. You must be a very devoted brother to stick here with your sister" She didn't mean it in a bad way. If anything she was always impressed with strong sibling bonds. The only family bonds she had were either rocky or purely for show. "I plan to do a double major in zoological studies and business, then I will see where it goes from there. As long as I am working with animals I'm happy" She explained. Just being around animals was all she really wanted. She could spend the rest of her life not working but she liked to stay busy. Maybe she would open a Zoo. It would be interesting. She blushed slightly when he offered his hoodie. "Thanks but I'm good for now, would't want you to get cold either" She smiled, "Also I made sure to bring extra blankets just in case" She looked back up at the sky as she sipped her wine. More stars were starting to appear and the sounds were so peaceful. She didn't mind silence, it was nice sometimes.

And Starting Conversation" It was just My sister and I growing up, we kind of have only ever had each other since we were really young, So yeah I guess I am. She can be a tad over protective though. Aurora could be very over protective if he was being honest, it was almost depressing it just told him that She didn't trust him enough to make decisions and handle his own stuff, which seemed odd considering he was older. That's really cool that totally fits you, well at least from what I know. Seth didn't know Raven that well but what he did working with animals seemed to be exactly what she was made to do and it was only reaffirmed with her power. I'd rather be cold, than you be cold. He said quietly he looked at the extra blankets. "That's nice though. It means there is always someone who has your back" That was what really mattered in life. To have someone on your side no matter what. Being alone had its perks now and then but Raven would never go back to being alone. People were social creatures and to really live everyone needed someone. "I always loved working with animals even before my powers manifested. They just fit perfectly, it was quite exciting really" It was odd how perfectly her powers fit in with what she loved. He was very sweet and she blushed again, trying not to make eye contact. Her smiled faded slightly when asked about her story. She didn't know Seth very well and it was a story even Ralph and Dani didn't really know. She almost never talked about her past or her family. Every now and then it would come up but she still didn't say much. She bit her lip slightly. "It's really complicated and not a subject I care to discuss, sorry" She half whispered the sorry in. Raven didn't want to end on a solemn note so she perked up "But that's the past, best to just enjoy the moment. Especially with such a view" Raven's voice was cheerful again and her smile back to normal.
