He also struggles when there are to many signals passing at once, he actually goes physically deaf and can only hear the signals. Sawyer usually uses his power for blackmail or to terrorize other people after all he can read and hear your most intimate and important conversations without even trying and you'd have no idea. Sawyer is also always giving off a Wi-Fi signal so as long as you're near him you'll always have wifi.

Sawyer hated summer, not the season itself but the fact that it involves summer break. Summer break to most kids was a good thing but not to Sawyer, sometimes it was okay and he could lounge around the Guant mansion doing absolutely nothing, but not this time. Sawyer had gotten on the wrong side of his father and ended up grounded for three weeks, unfortunately that wasn't as simple as being stuck in his room for the duration of the punishment. No with his mother and Brie busy with wedding plans and Raven off on her usual summer trip that meant the Gaunt mansion was pretty much deserted apart from the Butler and a few live in maids, which meant that Sawyer was dragged to the Gaunt Towers when his brother and father had to deal with business. He'd asked his father if he could just stay at the mansion but his father knew full well that the youngest Gaunt would not stay put. That is why Sawyer was dragged to the Gaunt tower for the third day in a row. The place was fine if you were a business man or staff but for a fifteen year old boy it was boring. His father had asked someone to watch him at all times because of his tendency to get into mischief but Sawyer was slippery and found himself no longer under watch pretty fast. It didn't help the boredom as Sawyer wandered the building intercepting the messages of all the business men and investors. "Hey mister! Your mistress had been calling you for the last hour. You might want to check in." Sawyer said to one man, an investor of some sort. He couldn't help that he'd interpreted the man voice messages. He could however help stating their content out loud with the man's wife stood right next to him. The man denied anything and shot glares at Sawyer. "Believe me ma'am he's lying to you." Sawyer said to the woman as he buried his hands into the pockets of his suit trousers. He knew that maybe it was cruel but he was bored and life was unfair so they had to deal with it too. His ability works best through contact. He can negate others abilities if they are within three yards of him but it doesn't last very long and it takes more energy to do that. It is almost like a negating field. However if he is in contact with that person their powers are useless if he chooses. He can turn the power on and off at will. He can keep this up for a few hours. Granted he has to be touching the person. It does take energy to use the ability so if he is tiered or run down it doesn't work as well and sometimes not at all. If he uses it too long it can cause severe headaches and make him sick.

If anything he welcomed the distraction considering the whole wedding thing coming up and the situation with Addison, that he hadn't quite figured out yet. He did feel bad for his younger brother though, being forced to sit there the whole time just because of getting in trouble again. He had an odd relation with each of his siblings. His relation with Raven was a mix of hate and acceptance, more so his sister still had some resentment and hatred towards all of the family making her difficult to work with at time but it was getting better. He knew Bri was just an evil little princess and they didn't have a bad relationship just not exactly the typical relationship. Then there was Sawyer. He knew his brother looked up to him and he was always there for the kid. Rich kind of took the fatherly roll where there own father was more interested in numbers than kids. He wasn't going to get started on his mother, considering she really only loved two of her kids. Himself and then Bri.
The meeting was over and Rich went to find his brother knowing that he would have slipped away from the random person watching him. It didn't take long for Rich to find his brother in the tower, he just had to follow the sounds of angry people. He had to hide back the laugh when he heard one of the investors wife yelling at him about some mistress and the gentlemen saying that it was just the boy messing around. "Well that wasn't nice" Rich said with a smirk, he might have said it was wrong but his tone and expression showed he was quite amused. He was standing behind his younger brother, looking down at him somewhat.

Sawyer knew Rich was good at the business side of being a Gaunt and that his only brother didn't mind doing work during the summer. In fact Rich was a natural at the whole working thing, he was very professional and Sawyer could see why his father took so much pride in his older sibling. He just wished his father would've left him out of it, he honestly wasn't interested in the family business but what fourteen year old was. Sawyer knew very well that his older brother got into the business side of things from a very young age, but it didn't mean he had to right and as much as Sawyer looked up to Rich he could never be him nor would his father ever have that look of approval towards him that he was forever trying to gain. His mother was a whole other story that Sawyer wasn't even bothered trying to figure out, she had her favorites and that was it. He wasn't as bold, bright and professional as Richard and he could never match up to Brie's adorable princess façade.
"It's not very nice that he's cheating on his wife but I guess people like him can do what they want." Sawyer said to his brother. Although his words were negative, Sawyer could see that his brother wasn't that disapproving of his actions. "Please say you're done and please say we can get out of here and go back to the mansion so I can serve my sentence in the comfort of my own home." He wasn't really begging and his tone didn't suggest it either but he was desperate to get out of the stuffy environment they were stuck in.

Knowing full well that Sawyer wanted nothing more than to leave Rich put on a solemn face as he shook his head. "No such luck kid there are still a few more meetings today not to mention dinner with the girls" Rich kept the act up watching his brothers response. It wasn't a lie exactly but he liked keeping his brother on his toes. Rich also wasn't the same stick in the mud like his father, he at least could have some fun from time to time. He let a small grin slowly appear on his face. "But thank goodness I don't have to attend any of those meetings. Figured we could go for lunch, go to town for a bit. Unfortunately dinner is mandatory" He added. Rich didn't mind all the meetings and business but sometimes he liked to just get away. Back at his old school he would often go to parties but after being stuck at Ashford that didn't happen as much. At least he had his best friend to keep him occupied.
"Also no worries on the whole grounded thing. As far as he knows I'm schooling you are proper business lunch-ins" Rich shrugged before motioning for Sawyer to follow. He passed the angry wife still arguing with his husband. He walked over to the woman with a charming smile. "There are only a couple things to do with unfaithful men. One of them would be to split assets and since he just bought himself a nice bundle of shares you, as his wife are entitled to half of that if not more when the papers are filed" He kissed her hand and walked off leaving the man in shock and the woman smiling. He figured the wife would make a better share holder anyway compared to the unfaithful husband. "Lesson one. Solve a problem with finesse. Charm will get you anywhere" Rich whispered to Sawyer with a laugh.

"Oh! what come on!!" Sawyer said raising and dropping his hands I'm frustration with a huff. He genuinely thought he'd be stuck at the family tower for the next few hours. The second Sawyer saw the smile creep onto Richard's face, he couldn't help but roll his eyes. "Whatever let's get out of here." Sawyer found that there wasn't much to do in Calloway and he wished that he'd gone to boarding school in England.
"pftt Business Lunch-ins? Really he believes that?" Sawyer asked. It wasn't that Rich wasn't good at making their Dad believe things it was more that Sawyer always protested whenever someone tried to drag him into business related things. "Charm only works if you have it. Some of us just aren't naturally charming. Like you for example!" Sawyer teased poking his tounge out at the still angry husband.
