PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION | Gage is a funny, charming, goofy guy. He is super outgoing and loves being around people pretty much all the time. He likes to make things into a joke, especially uncomfortable situations that make him feel awkward. This can make him difficult to like, if he is around a girl who is crying or something, because he will try and make her laugh and end up looking like an ass. Gage is a flirty guy. He wasn't raised to really respect monogamy, and although he doesn't think it is evil or impossible or anything, he is pretty convinced it's not for him. He is a big fan of getting girls to chase after him. The idea that he has a hold on female emotions and can make them fall in love is a sort of power grab he has a hard time kicking. It's not that he sleeps with all of these girls, although he has been known to sleep around a bit, but he does at least try to get the to admit that they like him, or love him. Some may think this is a little socio-pathic, and honestly speaking it probably is, but it's his only way to really experience what he has seen of love through his parents. |
ALL THE SMALL THINGS
POWER | Luck Manipulation |
POWER DESCRIPTION | Luck Manipulation sounds like it is all fun and games. For a bit of it, it sure can be. Gage has to power to manipulation, create, and control luck. But there are a few things to remember about luck in general is that just because someone is granted luck, it does not mean that everything will go right for them forever. First of all, Gage's power does have a time limit. The luck he gives someone really only last for the next twenty hours or so. The second thing you really ought to remember, is that not all luck is necessarily good. Gage does have the ability to bestow bad luck, and while most of the time he has a good handle on which kind of luck he is throwing around, he can sometimes lose touch with it. Finally, being granted luck, whether it is good or bad, never makes anything 100% certain. Too expand a little on that, things can become near certain depending on what they are. For instance, a flip of a coin, which has a 50% chance of landing on heads, may now have an 80% chance of lands on heads. But something like the lottery, which you may have a 1% chance of winning, may suddenly have a 30% chance. Nothing is guaranteed ever. The same goes for bad luck. If he grants someone bad luck, they hay have a heighten chance of stepping on gum or something. Gage CAN use the power on himself, which is his favorite part. |
SPECIAL ITEMS | He doesn't have much of importance. He is in the National Guard and wars his dog tags most of the time but generally he doesn't get attached to stuff. |
SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW
CHARACTER HISTORY | Gage was born out of wedlock to Jenna Michaelson and Michael Maddox. When Michael was stationed in Colorado Springs with the air force, he ran into Jenna at a bar one night and one thing led to another. Nine months later he was in court petitioning for full custody from Jenna, who was a graveyard shift waitress with no ambition to really move beyond that. It didn’t take much convincing for the family court to put Gage with his father, a well off military officer with a stable job and obviously better prospects. As Gage grew up, he saw his mother once in a blue moon. She was always excited to see him, but would never make any real effort to be a part of his life. It was almost like when you run into a friend you haven’t seen in a while. It’s pleasant to catch up for a bit but eventually it gets really weird. Despite their rare interactions, Gage knew his mother wasn’t the most committed person. She fell in love fast and hard and fell out of love just the same way. This didn’t do much to convince Gage that love was a relevant and important emotion. Unfortunately, where his father could have buffered this, he in fact made it worse. His father didn’t think that settling down was worth it, especially since they didn’t live anywhere long enough to make a meaningful connection with anyone before they were shipped off to a new home. These things, paired with Gage’s uncanny ability to lose things, created a kid who had a hard time understand commitment at all. When Gage was about twelve, he received notice from some school stating that he had a power or something. He didn’t know much about it but the idea of staying at one school for an entire year, or maybe even four years straight, was too enticing to turn down. When he started high school, Gage moved to Wyoming from some Air Force base in Connecticut. The school was a refreshing change. He actually got to know some people and made friends that he was able to keep. He even figured out that dating was a lot more fun than being Facebook Official, or whatever kids call it these days. After he graduated from Ashford Academy, Gage did the only thing he knew was an option. He joined the military. It shouldn’t be surprising that the Army was a good fit for him. He grew up in a military household and fell into step naturally. When he was in his first deployment in Kuwait, Gage ended up getting caught in a caravan that was hit by an IED. Although he was not severely injured, the army gave him an honorable medical discharge and sent him on his way. He is now returned to Calloway, which is the only place he really knows as a home. |
THE HOUSE THAT BUILT ME
MOTHER | JENNA LAIN MICHAELSON - TEACHER - "My mom is pretty cool, I guess. She dates a lot of dudes. She is the kind of mom who sleeps most of the day and thinks she found 'the one' and then he turns out to be a complete asshole or something. I don't live with her so I only hear the stories." |
FATHER | MATTHEW ALLEN MADDOX - AIR FORCE PERSON - "I grew up with my dad. He traveled around a lot because of his job in the air force. When he was deployed overseas I stayed with his sister, my aunt. He was one of those assholes my mom dated when she was about twenty. He got her pregnant and she couldn't take care of me so he got custody. I don't really know much but my dad is a bad ass. A huge player. I learned everything I know about picking up girls from him." |
SIBLINGS | I may have some. Both my mom and dad are pretty loose so who knows. |
