Charlie can see and speak to dead people. She doesn't chose which dead people she can interact with and it seems to be entirely dependent on the spirit in question. To her, the spirits appear as very translucent people. She is unable to physically interact with spirits and the connection, being dependent on the spirit, can be broken at any time. Sometimes Charlie has found that specific objects or places can help the bond and in some cases she is actually able to call out to a specific spirit making it more likely she will be able to see them. Her abilities don't tire her out physically or mentally when she is using them passively. However, when she actually makes an effort to call a spirit or try and hold the connection longer she can get tired very easily.

Charlie breathed in the warm air with a small sigh. She stood next to the track stretching out her legs before going for her run. That morning she had woken up feeling an almost jittery feeling beneath her skin. She hadn't been able to return to sleep despite the early hour and had pried herself from bed and gotten dressed for a run. With the weather so nice, she was glad she would be able to run outside. She had toyed with the idea of going for a bike ride which was more her mo, but the excess energy had prompted her to bypass the bike for today. A good solid run would probably help more at this point.
Satisfied with her stretches she pulled her hair up and away from her face into a loose bun and started a light jog down the track. She hadn't seen anyone else out at the track when she arrived and had seen only a few people in the rest of the center. Perhaps Saturday morning was not a popular time for people to work out. Or people were still sleeping off any late night activities since it was the beginning of summer and she was sure everyone was glad to be done with classes. She considered the idea that she should probably start being a bit more social herself if she was going to be a senior next year. She had slid through relatively unnoticed in the two months she had attended the school, but she found herself more resolved to actually get to know other people now. Or maybe it was just the jittery feeling propelling these thoughts as she ran.

THERMAL MANIPULATION |
Daniel's power of thermal manipulation allows him to control the temperature of nearly any physical matter to a certain degree. He is both able to heat and cool objects at will by manipulating them on a microscopic level. Heating wise, Daniel is able to increase the temperature of an object by 142 degrees Fahrenheit (61.1 degrees Celsius) higher than its current temperature. However, as with every ability, there are certain limitations. Daniel is not able to cause an item to exceed the temperature of the boiling point of water, and attempting to do so will result in failure. If an item is already at 212 degrees Fahrenheit (100 degrees Celsius), then his powers are rendered useless.
Along with being able to heat things past its current temperature, Daniel is also able to make things cooler. His powers allow him to cool nearly any physical form of matter by 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.8 degrees Celsius.) However, just like the other side of his abilities, Daniel has a limit. He is unable to exceed -30 degrees Fahrenheit (-34.4 degrees Celsius.)
Daniel's abilities are able to affect items that are within his line of sight away from him in a circumference of 300 feet (91.44 meters.)However, the larger the object, the easier it is to focus and affect, while the smaller the object the harder it is for him to see, thus focus on. His current temporal limit for manipulating an objects temperature is several hours before extreme fatigue.

The sun was shining, the temperature was warm, and the birds were out calling for Daniel to get prepared for his day. However, this time he was the early bird, and he had every intention of catching the worm, that being to put such a beautiful day into proper use. He had already gotten fully dressed for a day of exercise, with two water bottles in hand and a granola bar he was away from the indoors and across to the school's track field. His face brightened when he saw that someone had already beat him there, meaning that he wasn't the only one that enjoyed getting outdoors and getting to work.
"Hey," he spoke after sprinting beside the girl, a smile spread across his face like butter on bread. "I could use a running partner, someone to help push me with a bit of a challenge?" he half asked, half stated. There were plenty of people he had yet to meet since arriving at Ashford, and outside of his already acquired friend, he hadn't engaged in conversation with any females. "My name is Daniel by the way," he concluded, hoping that he had in fact introduced himself properly.

Charlie caught sight of the newcomer before he reached her. She noted he seemed to be prepared for a good run like she was and so she didn't startle when he approached. She was pleasantly surprised he seemed to actually be a good runner if he was also speaking at the same time. When he asked about being running partners she smiled widely at him. She hadn't had a good running partner since she had been home with her parents and her dad had gone with her in the mornings.
"Sure. Although you had better keep up." She spoke. She wasn't normally so bold, but the jittery energy she had woken up with pushed her further than usual and hadn't faded away yet. Maybe it was a sign she would be a bit more social in this new environment and a little less shy. She kept her running at a steady light pace to make it easier to talk at the same time.
"Charlie, although Chuck is also cool. Nice to meet you Daniel."

Daniel couldn't help but laugh when Charlie warned him to keep his pace with her. No one had ever challenged him when it came to running, because they either knew they would completely lose due to his background with soccer, or they were on the soccer team with him, and there wasn't time for competition outside of the actual competition itself. "Ha, don't worry about me," he reassured her, slowing his pace as well. "What type of running do you do? Do you have a certain schedule or layout you prefer?" he asked, taking a second to glance in front of him to be sure he wasn't running into any obstacles. He, himself had his own detailed running plan that he had created with his father that he ran at home daily, and then there were the exercises that his coach had him and the entire team complete to ensure that everyone properly put in work to the best of their ability without negative consequence, however he was open to trying new things, especially considering he was in an entirely new environment. |

Charlie smiled before responding. "I'm actually more of a biker, but when I'm feeling like I have a bit more excess energy I like to run it off." It was an honest enough answer. She was far more used to long bike rides around than she was running on a track. She liked the change of scenery that came with biking. There was only so much time she could spend on a track before she started to get bored with the surroundings. Maybe having a running partner might make it better.
"Are you mainly a runner?" She asked. Charlie could see he was clearly at ease with both the pace she had set as well as talking while running. She assumed he was used to running. Maybe an athlete. She had never played team sports since she was not a very competitive person and didn't always feel at ease in large groups of people. The closest she came to competing in anything was in archery. She had done a few minor competitions when younger, but now it was much more of a hobby than anything else. A way to clear her mind.

Daniel listened as Charlie explained that it was actually biking that she was more interested in, and that running was nothing more than an activity that was on the side. "Mostly, yes. I play soccer, and have for a really long time, so running is a usual for drills so I don't die on the field," he shared, slightly laughing at his own response. "I should try biking too, I haven't ever done it outside of the occasional ride to the store or something," he informed her while mentally making sure his breathing was still properly in check. It had became almost a habit to ensure that he was running correctly due to years of being reminded that air regulation was just as important as being physically capable of performing with the body's muscles.
"Maybe you could even share a bit about it later? But, have you ever competed in a marathon or any competitions?" |

Charlie laughed along with him. She hadn't had to do drills with a team, but she remembered gym back home perfectly clearly and how much most people seemed to dread running drills. Charlie herself had always preferred them to when they had to play whatever the sport of the week was. She caught her breath after laughing and it took a second before she could respond in a way that didn't come out slightly breathless. "I like the change of scenery biking give me. And it's fun to go out without a destination in mind and see where it takes you."
When he asked about competitions she nodded while also making sure to give the track ahead a short look to make sure she wasn't about to hit anything or veer off course. She had almost forgotten they were on a run and that meant actually watching where she was going. "I've done archery since I was a little kid. I've done a few competitions in it. I also did a half marathon with my dad once back home. You?"

It was nice to hear that Charlie had taken part in competitions, and that she had a reason for biking other than to simply loose weight or exercise, but to instead actually enjoy what came with getting outside. "I've never ran a marathon before, but other than the usual foot-, soccer games, I've competed in the U-17 World Cup a few years ago when I was fifteen years old," he informed her, quickly correcting himself from using football. Even though he had learned English at an advanced level, and he was taught that football was soccer, the word for soccer in Spanish was still a word in English, even if it did mean a completely different sport. He quickly glanced forward as Charlie did so, ensuring that he too was avoiding from what would surely make for a complete humiliation if he found his face head first in the ground. "So how long have you been here? I just arrived a few days ago," he asked, attempting to keep the conversation from running stale. |

She grinned at him when he spoke about the U-17 World Cup. He must be extremely good at the sport to merit that kind of competition. She wondered if he was going to continue playing professionally at any point but didn't voice the question. She didn't want to pester him with too many questions right off the bat. Plus she was quickly distracted when he asked her how long she had been at the academy. She was also pleasantly surprised he was also new here much like she was.
"I've actually only been here two months so I'm pretty new too." She responded. She could remember her first few days on campus. She had been much more shy than she usually was and had spent most of her time either in her room or finding quiet places to sketch. She had only really talked to a few people, so she knew what it felt like to be a bit lost. Maybe it was a sign that she was getting a bit more comfortable around people that she didn't hesitate in asking a question as they kept running.
"Where are you from if you don't mind me asking?"
