He's also easily used for the manipulative type of people he's the perfect candidate as he'd never suspect anything and would be happy to assist in whatever they need. Monty is a tad naïve and can't see the bad in anyone even if they truly are horrible people, he always sees the best in people. Monty is unbelievably stubborn, you have no way of changing his mind when he sets out to do something. He has respect for everyone especially older ones and ladies, he's that guy that holds the door open while a lady comes through or the type to help that struggling old lady down the stairs. Monty is also very easy to lead astray, he's very often dragged into things that probably aren't very good or safe but he has trouble saying no to people. He's chivalrous and incredibley charming although not a flirt he does like ladies and likes to please them. He does also have a naïve view of love and firmly believes in finding the one. Monty's desire to help people and his need to please others means he very often stretches himself to thin so he ends up rushing around and sometimes doesn't sleep. He's also incredibley fidgety and can't sit still. Monty loves his job at The Oasis, he loves the customers and he's definitely a people person he enjoys the buzz that always seemed to be ringing out of the place. Monty is super laid back and hardly anything bothers him, insults and such are like water on a ducks back to Monty. He gets with almost anyone and can't be bothered with the whole enemies thing, be does however dislike people that are rude and disrespectful. He also has a serious issue with men who hurt women in any way. |

SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW
HISTORY | Born to a single, young mother with no money and no real job, Montgomery Henry Emerson Sanders was quickly snatched up by the foster system. Monty was the result of a one night stand so the authorities didn't have an identity of the man and his mother didn't even remember his name all she could say was that he was loaded. Since he was only a few weeks old when he came into the system he went to a temporary home that knew how to handle newborns and their various needs, he remained at this home until he was around five years old. He was then moved back to a group home, Monty never made a fuss and was one of the lucky ones that wasn't tossed between foster homes and the few times he was moved didn't bother him all that much. As previously Monty didn't make a fuss, he just went with it and once he was back in group home he kept himself busy helping out with cooking, cleaning and maintenance. Monty had a habit of getting close to the younger kids in the groups homes and everytime one went to a new foster home they all wanted Monty to go with them. Monty was eleven when he found a new foster home, this foster home were regular foster parents and had fostered at least five kids at one time. This foster home was a little tougher for Monty, this foster home was abusive both mentally, physically and emotionally. It was on one particularly bad night that Monty's powers first manifest. He'd not been hurt that night but a slightly younger girl had and he went over to her to try and console her. When he took her hand in his he physically felt all her pain at once, the emotional, physical and mental anguish she was in passed onto him and he was in such agony he threw up. However the girl felt better, she wasn't in any kind of pain and she went away smiling. Monty however was less lucky, he still had the same pain for several days and more on top of it for angering his foster parents. Eventually after about two years the foster system caught on to the abuse and once again Monty was back at a group home, he hadn't forgotten about that incident though and it always intrigued him that the girl felt better but how? He'd not even said two words to her. Shortly after returning to the group home a young couple came in looking to foster. Mr and Mrs Scott decided to foster the then Thirteen year old Monty. This family was a great one, they treated Monty like their own child and made sure he was happy. They never treated him like something fragile because he was foster kid and he always respected them for that. Monty wasn't a problem child he was just easily lead astray by others and very often he got into trouble. He was fourteen when the paperwork was finished and he was official adopted, he was no longer Montgomery Henry Emerson Sanders, he was now Montgomery Henry Emerson Scott. His foster parents were Star Trek fans so they loved his name and so did Monty. When he was fifteen he got drunk for the first time, due to his best friend begging him to go with her to a party. He came home late and wasted, his parents weren't very happy and he was grounded for a month. However the day after and the resulting hangover seemed to be passed on to his foster mother, but it turns out his power was just transferring his pain onto her and he didn't even know it. Once Monty was less hungover and more coherent, Mr.Scott sat him down and explained to him about his powers, he'd known Monty had them for sometime since he could sense other peoples powers but he wanted to see them. He then went on to explain to Monty about Ashford Academy and their power training facilities that he was part of. When Monty turned fifteen he started at Ashford. His high school years flew by, he was a good student, he attended all his classes and did all the necessary training. He graduated at eighteen with excellent grades and a good amount of control over his power. He then decided to join the army instead of going to university, a decision that his parents fully supported knowing that it would show that SPB's could merge into normal society. At the age of nineteen Monty hugged his parents goodbye and he was off. After he'd completed his army training he was deployed with two other men, William George Thomas and Andrew Lloyd Jameson, who'd become close friends to the young man. He'd been serving for about a two years when disaster struck his squadron. Monty, Billy and Anders as they were known had just returned from collecting supplies when something exploded in their base camp. There were several more explosions and the base was basically a pile of rubble. Monty was knocked unconscious for a moment but when he came round he saw the destruction and spotted his two friends nearby. They both had shards of glass, wood and metal sticking out of them. Monty didn't realize he did too until he tried to stand up. Monty could see the pain in his friends eyes and there yells of anguish. Monty crawled toward them and although he was wasn't far from them it was a very painful few minutes. Monty took each other their wrists and absorbed their pain, unfortunately absorbing it onto himself. The pain was horrendous and he didn't realize that he was screaming but the medics that arrived moments before he passed out said he did. Three days later Monty woke up in a army hospital, he had broken several ribs and some shrapnel had damaged his spleen. He also had a broken wrist and a serious blow to the head. The worst damage though wasn't realized till later on. One day when he was more lucid he asked a nurse where his friends were, the news that they had both died of their injures pained him greatly. After that news all the hospital staff ended up with a headache and anyone that came within a certain range of Monty was subject to pain. It was only small like headaches or chest pain but it gradually got worse. Monty had and honorable discharge from the army and returned home to Calloway. His foster father tried to hug him but ended up in agonizing pain, his foster mother too. They couldn't understand why Monty would inflict pain on them when they were trying to help, they new he was hurt in many ways but he wasn't that type of person. After a few days of not being able to get close to him without being subject to pain, his father had enough and told him stop so that they could help. Monty broke done and told them that it wasn't him, he wasn't doing it deliberately anyway. His parents took him to an SPB doctor who although having a hard time because Monty was radiating pain diagnosed his lack of control as brain damage. The head injury he suffered essentially broke his powers on and off switch. He explained that he could try and regain it through training but he couldn't guarantee it would work. It was a hard blow for Monty, he could even get close to people for the comfort he needed, he did do training but after a few months it didn't seem to really be working. However Mr. Scott had a plan, he spoke to his wife and they both agreed. They took their life savings and went to Armatige Industries, there they paid their life savings in order to buy a specially designed bracelet that stopped Monty's powers. He could take it off when necessary but never did. Monty is now settled back into Calloway, he works at The Oasis. His hobbies of painting and photography came about as a way of coping with both the death of his friends and the PTSD. |
ALL THE SMALL THINGS
POWER | Odynokinesis |
POWER DESCRIPTION | Odynokinesis is the ability to control pain. Monty can create, absorb and control the pain of others. He can take others pain away but essentially he absorbs it himself to he feels the pain but almost double what they feel. He can also increase others pain as well as decreasing it again. Increasing others pain doesn't have adverse effects on him except maybe people getting angry at him. He can also create pain on other people and transfer his pain onto others. His power only relates to others, he can't take away his own pain. He can also absorb mental emotional pain but again he feels it almost double what anyone else would. He can't manipulate mental or emotional pain but can remove it. Monty suffered a head injury that caused brain damage but only to the part of the brain that handles the control of powers. He can't control his pain creating and if he wasn't wearing his argumentation device everyone he comes close to would be in excruciating pain. |
SPECIAL ITEMS | Monty has a specially designed augmentation device that looks like a metal chain. He wears it on his wrist. Without it he couldn't be close to people as they would be in pain. Monty is usually wearing his military dog tags as well. |
