fly me to the moon and let me Play Among The Stars Xander had grown used to the practices. He had been going to the school since freshman year and had grown used to the system. It wasn't a normal school by any means. Which was good for Xander since he never really cared for normal school settings to begin with. Mainly because he had trouble getting into a routine with other schools since they weren't as accommodating for people like him and those that were cost too much usually. Since Ashford had to accommodate people with abilities, helping out someone who was blind was easy enough of a task. Xan was fairly independent anyway and she was glad the school gave him that freedom. It was the main thing other schools didn't do. As confident as he was with his ability that didn't mean he slacked off with practice. Sure school work was annoying and he would more than willing slack off with that at times. But he found training to be fun and really helped take his mind off things. Not that there was much going on. He didn't really get involved in drama and most of his friends had been older and were in the university or off working. Granted it was just a couple of people but still. He was trying to make more friends. So far he was doing fairly well, and just about all of them never noticed he was blind till he either said something or they finally pieced together the clues. He was proud of that fact. Enough practice made it so most couldn't tell just by talking with him. He had grown fairly proficient with his powers. Right then he was working on heating and cooling a block of metal, trying to get it to melt and then cool but trying to focus the power on just parts of the block and not just the whole thing. It was mainly a task of focus. He could heat a pan and not the food he cooked, making sure heat was spread evenly. So the block shouldn't be too hard in theory. That still didn't make the task any less challenging. He heard someone else enter the room, most likely not noticing there was already someone there or they were there for a similar power training. He knew there were others with a similar ability as his, it would be wrong to think otherwise. "Hey, whats up" He asked keeping his head turned to the metal as he focused on a corner to heat it then coll before the liquid metal dripped to the floor. Birds of a Feather words: 246 tag: XANDER REMIEL KNIGHT notes: Outfit Daniel had been informed that one of his first 'classes' would be a form of training and honing his own abilities. He was never a huge fan over what he could do, and he most certainly tended to refrain from practicing his abilities when he was back at home. However, unlike some super powered teens, Daniel wasn't unimpressed by his ability's capabilities, but rather over the fact that he had them in the first place. They were semi helpful when it came to a few jokes and pranks, but in the long run they came with more cons than they did beneficial pros. It took roughly half an hour before he located the the training center, and once he entered he was greeted by a fellow student who had been working with a piece of metal. "Hi, I was just told to come to training," he responded to the other boy's greeting and question before slowly making his way half way over. He watched as a piece of the metal's corner dripped to the floor before redirecting his attention back upwards. "You're working on melting it?" he questioned, deciding to break his view away from the boy's practices to instead take in the sights of the room itself. Plenty of space and equipment were provided, and he was satisfied that he could find something to work on, even if it didn't directly correlate with his abilities.

By using his ability to sense the thermal temperature he could tell the boys relative height and build. Just as someone could gauge information by a person's looks he could do the same through their voice and could estimate a basic physical appearance by their general body temperature. It was one of the many perks of the ability. Xander nodded when the boy mentioned he was there for training. Why else would he be there really? He continued on his concentration, it was hard and tiring. The hotter or colder the temperature he was trying to reach, the less amount of time he could control it. He figured the metal he was working on was Lead since it seemed to melt in the 600's Fahrenheit, and it wasn't tiring him out as quickly as some others would. "More like trying to heat and cool it in specific locations. Working my control more than anything" Practicing heating and cooling things was easy, practicing on efficient control was another. "Thermal manipulation, you?" He asked inquiring about the kids powers as he turned his attention to the other person in the room. He needed a break from the block. Xander turned around to face the other person making sure his would be line of sight was in the general vicinity of the boy's head. It was the easiest way to make it seem like he was looking at the other person without really looking at them. His gaze stayed on the general area around him, before he faced the other boy once more. "That's interesting," he commented before deciding to search through some of the equipment offered. In truth he was completely clueless on how and where to start. He had never considered learning how to specifically pinpoint and control his power such as Xander was. He found that as long as he could manipulate what he wanted how he wanted, he would be okay, but that now quickly became obvious that that wasn't the case. "Do you have any knowledge on what I should do? I know I'm a stranger, but I'm not used to practicing...really," he asked.

It is really odd at first but it is more of just getting comfortable with your abilities before going into more specific practices. Umm... a good place to start would be to take an object and just heat or cool it, trying to figure out your range then go from there" Xander explained. He did his best to maintain eye contact knowing that it would just be a blank stare. Though he was lucky most didn't notice. That is unless they really were paying attention. "Name's Xander, Xan, by the way" He said holding out his hand for a handshake. He figured it would be a good idea to become somewhat familiar with the boy, especially when they had a similar if not the same power. Something about Xander seemed slightly off, different almost, however he couldn't exactly pinpoint exactly what it was. Returning to the area of supplies, Daniel messed around with various equipment before finally emerging with a mass of metals, woods, and plastics. Setting them all aside, he picked through each, selecting what physically appeared would be easiest for him to work with. He wasn't exactly keen on using his powers, and the only times he had ever used them was to cause a few minor explosions of cooking materials when someone he knew was in the kitchen at home. "How long have you been working with your powers, Xan?" he eventually asked, allowing his focus to slowly drift to heating a sheet of plastic.

He was always good at pairing a voice with a name the first time he met someone. He had to, not like he could tell by their face like most people. He turned back to his task as the other boy looked for something to work with. His concentration was interrupted by Daniel asking another question. It was one he had to think on for a moment. The thought never really crossed his mind that there were people with abilities that didn't use them often. He couldn't think of a reason not to use his, then again his ability to him really was just like sight was to other people. "Found out I had powers at thirteen and use them every chance I get, honestly. Use them so much I don't know what it would be like to not use them" Xan shrugged his shoulders. He was going to add that for him his power replaced his inability to see so it just became one of his five senses. Xan decided against adding that part, if Daniel hadn't noticed yet he wasn't about to say anything. Most people changed their attitude towards him when they realized he was blind and he hated it. His control was easily a factor he was lacking due to minor use of his abilities, but the fact that he ended up accidentally melting half of what he had collected, and freezing the other half barely bothered him. "I don't use mine that often. Sometimes when I was at home and preparing to arrive here I would play pranks with them. For say if the chef was cooking, I would maybe melt the butter, refreeze something that was already thawed, or cause a few minor explosions," he shared, smirking at the old memories. "For actual purpose of learning...very few and far between. I was more focused on making sure I could say hello and ask for the restroom," Daniel continued on, letting out a laugh at his own comment.
