The skype chat with Gem had ended horribly enough that Dani was almost glad she wasn't leaving until the next day. As it was, her head and heart were hurting so much that she couldn't comprehend real human interaction right now. Part of her waited half an hour to make sure Gem wasn't going to call, but after that...she had to get out. Otherwise she was going to go insane. A few phone calls and a couple hours later, she had convinced someone to drop her off down at the Oasis. Her outfit was simple, much more than she was used to since she had started dating Gem. Sometimes she wondered if the corsets were genuinely the only thing he loved about her. It didn't matter though. Her fake ID got her to the bar and 95 cent draft night meant that she was having the time of her life...well, not really. She was already buzzed though and that was what really mattered. Instead of going out and dancing like she normally did, or like she would have before, Dani was sitting at the bar eating some greasy but delicious fries and trying to ignore the guy a few seats down who had offered her more than one drink. After spending a few hours with his room mate, Gemini had come to the conclusion that the nap he had so desperately wanted wasn't in the cards. He checked his his phone for the 100th time, there was a small part of him that hoped She'd text him and when he saw she hadn't again he almost considered breaking down and texting her. He dismissed the thought as he pulled the snug fitting army green t-shirt over his head and then checked his hair in the mirror to make sure it'd stayed in place. There was no way he was caving.
The evening air was cool and overcast in a way that reminded Gemini of Seattle and made him a tad homesick as he walked to his car, his jingling in his hand. Sliding into the driver seat, he rolled down the window to enjoy the spring air, maybe instead of going to Miami, he'd just go home for spring break instead.
It didn't take long for him to end up out in front of the Oasis. He glanced down at his phone again, nothing. Maybe he should have texted one of the guys to have a drink with him. He shrugged maybe after a couple shots when he was better company. He flashed his fake ID not that many people question him, especially since he'd been putting off shaving and his beard was starting to grow in a little thicker making him look older. He found an empty bar stool not paying much attention to the people around him. He dropped the phone on the bar in front of him scrolling through it absent mindly, really more an excuse to have something to do with his hands than anything. Can I get a double shot of Fireball? He asked digging the leather wallet from the back pocket of his jeans, digging the silver plastic Visa out he tossed it down on the bar Keep it open, Thanks. Looking up to glance around the her caught a glimpse of a familiar brunette a few seats down Dani... He said quietly.

Her beer was halfway gone when Dani noticed someone sitting down at one of the empty seats down the bar. She didn't have time to look before the guy who she'd been dealing with all night long decided to come down to the open stool next to hers. Dude...seriously...I have a boyfriend. He'll be here any time now. It was a lie, completely and utterly, but that was besides the point. She'd been texting one of the girls on and off just to pretend someone was coming. Instead she was dealing with this creep and waiting for her designated driver to get there so that she could go home.

Gemini watched the guy closely out of the corner of his eye.He never understood men who were so persistent, maybe it's because he didn't believe in literally chasing women,If she didn't want him? Her loss. Maybe it was because he very seldom had to be that persistent , or maybe he was more of a gentleman than anyone gave him credit for and once a girl said no, he backed off. Regardless of the reason watching the guy pester Dani was annoying for more than one reason, he might have even been a bit jealous if Dani's body language hadn't seemed so 'nope.'
He downed his shot, sliding off the bar stool and walking the few feet to where she was sitting. He wasn't sure if the guy had seen him sit down farther down the bar or not so even in the irony that he was indeed her boyfriend he wasn't sure he could pull the 'Hey babe, I'm here card.' He was standing behind her with his usual alpha male stance, his arms crossed over his chest. The look on his face was obviously an annoyed one as he rolled his eyes at the guy It's pretty clear she's not interested so... How about you and your pathetic attempts to pick up girls disappear. even though Gemini hadn't uttered a threat it was obvious by his tone that there was one there.

Once she was satisfied there were no more crunchy ones, she pushed the plate in gem's direction without looking over still. "He's been kinda weird though, so maybe. I don't know." This was a little funny and if she hadn't chosen to take a drink right at that moment, she probably would've laughed. "I think your right though. He's not my type. What about you hot stuff? Anyone interesting tonight or are you waiting for someone?" Treating Gem like a stranger was keeping her calm at least, so she had that.

See, I don't think boyfriends are overrated. I really love mine, like a lot more than I think anyone gives me credit for. The thing is, I don't think he feels the same way because, like you said, boyfriends are overrated, so why wouldn't girlfriends be the same way. She started, trying to act like she hadn't just said the word she'd been avoiding. There was a high chance that Gem was going to freak out over it, but it was time to put her cards on the table. Chances were they were either leaving here better than they had been in weeks or they wouldn't leave together at all. And I'm not a homewrecker. If you aren't at home with your girl...maybe you should be. She winked, picking up her beer and acting like she was going to walk away, but instead she just ended up stepping towards him just slightly, not sure if she'd had enough to drink to deal with the fallout from this.

He blinked at her a couple of times trying to ignore that obnoxious suffocating feeling that seemed to happen every time anything serious was brought up. If she's anything like me, she's probably getting a little tired of waiting for something that should've happened a long time ago. You see, my guy used to be a playboy, a real ladies' man. Then one day he just stopped, because we got together. She explained, not quite starting at the beginning, but close enough for what she wanted to say right now. "And everything was great. We've had the time of our lives together...but its like every time something goes bad, we get pushed twenty steps back. We can't even fight like a real couple. Then terms like fling status get thrown around and confirmed....it kinda sucks. She stated with a sad smile, walking away from him and towards a table at the back of the bar where they could talk if he wanted to. If not then one of the waitresses was just going to have to bring her beer and she'd leave a better tip.

His eyes shot up when she mentioned the fling status I was- I mean I'm sure he was being sarcastic, because he'd hope that you'd know by now that you're anything but just some hook up. It stung that Dani had actually taken his words seriously, though he had to admit he was growing tired of the 'fling' thing always being thrown up in his face. The girls who were more than that thought they were flings, the girls who were just flings always blew up his phone thinking they were something special. He pushed off the bar with his forearms following her to the table. He pulled out a chair for her before moving around the table to sit down himself You know Dani, You're not a fling, and I know deep down you know you're not, but for the record I’m sorry if I made you feel that way. He messaged his forehead with his finger tips, trying his best to tread carefully. He took a deep breath like he was preparing for something I hate being your boyfriend… He held his hands up defensively signaling her to let him finish and it’s not like a I hate being your boyfriend because I can’t sleep with a different girl every night or anything like that. I hate it because as your best friend I could make you happy and as your boyfriend I feel like I’m constantly failing. He tapped his fingers against the table, taking another deep breath, exhaling slowly. Did you ever stop to think that you didn't stop being my best friend when we started dating and that maybe all that mess is more of a problem than our like, actual relationship? Dani had to admit that the thought had crossed her mind more than once. He had been upset whenever Finley arrived and then Octavia. It was like the more people she had around, the worse things got. Babe, you aren't failing the majority of the time. Times like right now thought...you know, if someone talked to Ryan or I before all this the way you talked to me and to my brother, you should've lost it. The whole only child thing sucked when it came to making him understand why Fin was off limits, but at least there was the Ryan example. And I know this isn't the ideal setting for the mushy stuff, but our entire life doesn't have to be a rom com. It really doesn't. I meant what I said and I've wanted to say it everyday since Christmas. I just...I know all this boyfriend stuff is hard on you so I really do try to not push it when I can. She ducked her head slightly as the embarrassment caught up to her, kinda wishing the person who drove her would show up to take her home. Everything was a mess and she had spent more time staring at the table than she did her boyfriend.

I feel like I did. He said plainly Girls go through boyfriends all the time, best friends not as easily. his tone dry as he reached for the salt and pepper shaker that sat on the table, any excuse to have something to do besides look at Dani. It wasn't that he wasn't happy that Dani was reconnecting with her family and old friends, honestly he thought it was great but he couldn't help but feel like he was slipping slowly down her social totem pole until he reached 'Replaceable boyfriend.' He rolled his eyes at her next comment though he wasn't sure she saw and leaned back in his chair, his arms over his chest. He was about to protest again that Finley was just as mean to him but decided they were ever going to stop fighting he was just going to have to do what he did best and get over it.I'll try and be nicer to Finley, but if he starts it all bets are off.

Dani rolled her eyes but let her head fall against his shoulder anyways. HE was being almost as ridicoulous as everyone else, even her. Dude, you are my best friend and my boyfriend. Doesn't that make you more important, not less? Dani complained quietly, closing her eyes while she tried to figure out what to say next. I love you too. Besides, I know it can't be great being my boyfriend. I'm pretty much crazy and I've got a target a mile wide on my back screaming kick me here. She admitted, kinda glad for the quiet minute with her boyfriend. Creeper dude seemed a little ticked whenever she opened her eyes and looked in his direction, but whatever. He was irrelevant.
