a little heat, Bags deposited safely in his room, Jasper hadn't stuck around the dorm room long. He'd wanted to explore - he was going to be going to Ashford for four years, so he should know how to get around, right? Spring was in full power, he noticed. It looked different than what he was used to; up north, it was also colder than he was used to it, even in summer - never mind with most of the schools' peninsula being surrounded by water.
A water locked school! The thought of it made the young boy shiver unhappily. He didn't know if his powers would fluke out if he got soaked; probably not, he guessed, but hey, why test it? He liked having his fire-breath...even if he couldn't do anything impressive with it yet. But, he could warm himself up, couldn't he? Sure, maybe it wasn't an emergency or anything, but he needed the practice.
Thinking so, Jasper shook back his shirtsleeves and held his hands in front of his face. Measuring the distance, he moved his hands a little further away, closed his eyes, and concentrated. The first time he breathed out, nothing happened - it was just normal air. Frowning, Jas screwed up his face in concentration and flexed his hands, reaching deeper.
A flame flickered out this time - first a small one, barely enough to light a candle wick by, but it grew to a respectable length. Jasper clenched and unclenched his hands, cupping them around the thin, wavering flames. His hands warm - and himself out of breath, but feeling pleased - Jasper sucked his breath back in, the flames disappearing inside of him in the same movement.
Heart thudding in his chest, Jasper leaned against the nearest tree (as well-groomed as everything else at Ashford) to get his breath back.
"Maybe I just need to get some gloves.", he sighed. |

Briella's power is very strong and very specific. Briella is able to "infect" someone with a sin. The catch? The person getting infected must have a deep, untouched desire to commit the sin. Even if they are unaware of that desire, it has to be there to work. Generally, and most likely, it will be one of the Seven Deadly Sins:
ENVY - The feeling of envy is magnified to the point of destruction. Anyone the infected sees as superior, or better in some way will be the target of the infected's anger. Generally the infected will do anything to perceive that they are the best and will do whatever they can to dispose of whatever it is that they are feeling envious of.
GLUTTONY - Those infected with gluttony will eat whatever they come across in total excess until they are sick, or worse.
GREED - Those infected with greed are affect mainly by material greed. It can cause people to go to extreme lengths to acquire material goods that they don't have and suddenly feel lie they need. This can cause stealing or even violence in rare cases. Greed is one of the most common sins Briella casts on people.
LUST - Being infected with the sin of lust causes people to forget about everything in their life except for their insatiable need for sexual interaction.
PRIDE - This can cause people to suddenly act very prideful, even if it is out of character for them. This prideful act can cause them to become slightly tyrannical because they temporarily believe they can do no wrong, They generally use this as justification for whatever they do while infected.
SLOTH - Sloth is another very common infection with Briella's power. It can cause people to stop in the middle of whatever they are doing and lay down instantly. They forget about everything - even eating and drinking, or going to the bathroom - for the sake of being lazy.
WRATH - This infection can be the most dangerous. It tap into most people's unexpressed rage and causes them to do dangerous and wrathful things. This often leads to a potentially violent loss of control.

[attr="class","wbascr"] Briella couldn't help the frown that distorted her pretty face as she stepped out of her dorm for the first time since the temperature had dropped again. Stupid Wyoming with it's stupid random weather changes. She swore it was warmer yesterday...
Hugging her arms tight around her torso, Briella set up with the intention of finding food somewhere. She hadn't eaten since she arrived and the discovery that they didn't pay people to bring food directly to the dorms like room service had distressed her a little bit. There was no way Brie was ever going to understand how her sister could possibly like it here. Sure the campus was kind of pretty and getting trained in your powers was always nice, but no room service? No big city nearby? What exactly was there to do?
Having only been at Ashford for a week or two, Briella had not gotten used the seeing people using powers out in the open, especially those powers that were more visual than her own. After all, inducing sins was not something you could actually see her doing, most people just experienced the after math. But now she found herself stopped mid-step as she watched some boy blow what looked like fire all over the place. She shook her head, as if shaking a smile on to her face, and walked toward him. Might as well start networking sooner, rather than later.
"Hello!" She waved cutely, tilting her head to one side like an anime character would have. a little heat, The rough bark pressing into his back even through his jacket, Jasper almost whacked himself in the head when Briella called out; he jerked, surprised, the back of his head narrowly missing the trunk of the tree. He relaxed a little when he realized that she wasn't a teacher who'd spotted him and come to scold him; she even looked close to his age. The realization made Jas grin in response to Brie's smile; the other freshman he'd met hadn't seemed nearly as friendly as she was.
"Hi! Uh, hello. I didn't - I wasn't, um, bothering you, was I?" With someone watching now, Jasper stood a little straighter, his warmed hands hanging loosely at his side as Briella moved closer, the wind picking up slightly and tossing the leaves on the tree around above their heads. When she was within distance, he stuck a hand out to shake, hoping she thought he looked cool, instead of the confused, lost kid he felt like. Maybe she was looking for something to do, too?
"I was just cold, and," he shrugged, making a waving motion with his free hand, "We need the practice, right?" He laughed, a short, slight noise. smooth, jas. real smooth. 205 |

[attr="class","wbascr"] He smiled back at her and Briella's smile went from being fake to being genuine. She had him now, he was rather easy to trick. The thought made her giggle inwardly as she gave him a concerned looked, "Bothering me?" Her voice reflected a real concern although she honestly didn't care what he said in response, "How could you be bothering me by practicing your ability?" She asked sweetly, giggling like a little girl who just saw something silly.
A thought occurred to her suddenly that made her play with the silver bangle she wore all the time. It was a silver cuff, that had been made especially for her in order to help her control her power. After all, she had been told many times that her power was too dangerous to allow it to run rampant as she learned to control it. Apparently there was a reason the things she could control were called sins, and why God didn't like them. She shook her head and smiled sweetly, "I can't really practice my power." She shrugged.
