that's me in the spot light
Raelynn was sitting crossed legged on her bed, tapping her index finger carefully against the body of her acoustic guitar. She was starring down at the words on the page, thinking that they looked and probably sounded completely stupid. She never did like the songs she wrote, but every time she busted on her guitar, which recently had been basically every day, she couldn't help but try. For some reason, her emotions, which are generally overwhelming, always seem to disappear right when she needs to channel all that frustration into writing a song. Unfortunately, someone already wrote a song about not being able to write songs, so she couldn't really do that.
Chewing on her lower lip, Raelynn sucked in a deep breathe and leaned back on her bed dramatically. Like pulling teeth. This was exactly like pulling teeth. Her phone, which was nestled into a small spot on her pillow, buzzed next to her face and lit up like the fourth of July. Turning on her side, she picked up the Galaxy Edge and read the message. "Florida isn't so bad. You should come stay with us."
Of course it would be Liam. Ever since Becca and her BAE bailed on Calloway, things have been strange for Raelynn. It was like her whole world stopped moving the second Becca left town. It didn't seem fair. Raelynn came to Calloway for no reason other than to meet her sister. In all honesty, the idea of staying in Calloway forever made her nauseous. Just being so close to that house, and knowing that her mother had been here, all made Raelynn cringe a little. But Florida? Why, of all places, did they move to FLORIDA? Being a fan of California, Raelynn would never really understand. She picked up her phone and typed out her response, listening to the bubble popping noise of the message being delivered, "How is Bex?" Not that she didn't know the answer. Last time Raelynn had seen her sister, Becca was a mess. A hot, steaming mess. Raelynn only hoped that she was doing better, because there wasn't much that could be worse.
Her phone vibrated in her hand, pulling her head out of whatever storm system it was floated away to, "She's a bit better. I think time will help." What does Liam know? Probably more than Rae, who hasn't even known her sister for an entire year. And obviously he offered her more comfort, since she chose to leave with him and not ask Raelynn to come along. A pang of guilt stabbed at Raelynn's heart and she typed back, "Keep me posted?" Taking the smiley emoji as a 'yes', Raelynn sat up and leaned over her guitar again, bobbing her head in time with a song that she hadn't written yet.
Bzzz. Liam texted her again, this time sending a picture accompanied by a short message, "Think she'll like it?" Wide eyed, Raelynn grabbed the phone and jerked it to hard towards her face that her guitar made some unpleasant noises. She pushed the guitar out of her lap and grinned. The diamond ring was a braided band and looked like it had been dipped in sugar. Even in the picture, she could tell that is was almost obnoxiously glitterly, shining in the light of Liam's camera flash. For the first time in a long time, Raelynn was completely speechless. Of course Bex would like it. Of course. But Raelynn couldn't help but wonder if the timing was good for something like that. Not that her opinion was that of an expert or anything, but if someone proposed to her now she might just die of their stupid. Then again, she wasn't in love. She wasn't even sure she knew what love was. An image of Gemini's face flashed in front of her eyes and she shook her head think RYAN! to herself.
She didn't dislike Ryan. In fact, she liked him quite a bit. But a part of her still longed for Gemini. She read on Yahoo answers that it might be because she never satisfied the 'carnal urges' between her and Gem. Not that that made any sense. Sighing, Raelynn typed out a message for Liam before tossing the phone of the bed side table, "Better be romantic as hell, weirdo."
