STRENGTHS | CURIOUS :- Roman is inquisitive and delightfully so. OPEN-MINDED :- His mind is never closed to the opinions or thoughts of others, since everyone is entitled to an opinion, and different ways of thinking are healthy. HUMOUROUS :- He's been known to crack a good joke here or there, and doesn't mind bearing the brunt of a joke himself. PHYSICALLY FIT :- Whether it be a side effect of his ability or just the result of healthy eating and exercise, Roman possesses a fair deal of lean muscle. ARTSY :- Living up to his nickname, Roman takes pride in visual art such as photography, graphic design and the odd sketch. |
WEAKNESSES | MOODY :- Roman is bipolar, therefore his mood may change at any given time. IMPATIENT :- He can only be patient to an extent with persons he considers, for lack of a better term, moronic. Also, very short attention span. TACTLESS :- Roman is honest, and though honesty may be the best policy, his tendency to tell it like it is can often get him in trouble. GULLIBLE :- His inclination to be open to the opinions of others can lead to his being easily swayed by others. CLAUSTROPHOBIA :- Roman lasts about a minute or two in small spaces and large crowds, and prefers taking the stairs if possible. |
HOBBIES | Reading mystery novels, writing short fiction and poetry, and watching the Discovery channel. |
PET PEEVES | FACTUAL INACCURACIES :- Incorrect statements and facts annoy the hell out of him. STOP CHEWING! :- Roman abhors the sounds associated with eating, such as slurping, mouth smacking and crunching of chips from a plastic bag. |
PERSONALITY | Persons describe Roman as cheerful and fun to be around. His outlook on life tends to be positive, and that positive energy seeps into his dealings with others. Generally, he greets persons with a smile or nod. Not exactly the social butterfly, but he gets around. He aims to treat everyone equally, since that is how he himself would like to be treated. He also demonstrates the same level of respect to all staff members, whether janitor or headmaster, because all jobs are valuable contributions to society in his eyes. Roman frowns upon snobbishness, as he does not see the value of it in society, nor does he tolerate those who practice it. He also doesn't hold grudges, with the exception of those who really get on his nerves. Academically, Roman is average. He has no real interest in school and has the attention span of a two - year old when it comes to the classroom. He likes learning, but on his own, and has no intention of putting on display any genius he may possess. Roman is known to space out frequently, as his mind is constantly on other matters. |
THE HOUSE THAT BUILT ME
MOTHER | MEDINA MAY DAY - 49 - NURSE - Medina raised him and his twin sister, Artemis, with loving care and treated both equally, causing Roman to develop a deep respect for the female gender. A hard-working woman like her late husband, Medina impressed upon her children the value of hard work and dedication, and gave praise when it was truly necessary. |
FATHER | JAMES ARTHUR DAY - Deceased four years after Roman's birth. Roman does not have much memories of him, but can remember the love he showed towards his wife and children. He also designed a trust fund to aid his family prior to his death. |
SIBLINGS | ARTEMIS CHRISTINA DAY - 17 - STUDENT - SISTER - Born five minutes before her brother, Artemis tends to display an older sister attitude to Roman, and is peeved by persons thinking she's the little sister. She is close to her brother and is also the one he first consciously manifested his abilities in front of. |

SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW
HISTORY | CHILDHOOD :- On October 10th, 1997, the first screams of newborn twins resonated through the halls of the maternity ward. Sighs of relief silently filled the delivery room and a proud father gazed with admiration at the fruit of his loins nestled in his arms before passing them to an equally overjoyed mother. The stoic look on the face of the baby boy gave him his first name - Roman. At two years of age, the toddler spent his time reading the books his father brought home with the hope of increasing his children's vocabulary. His favourite book (and the only one that seemed to hold his attention for very long) was an encyclopedia of animals accompanied by a pack of flash cards. His father thought it grand that his boy was reading such things at an early age. When Roman turned four, James Carmichael died. His mother, though clearly devastated, pressed on in her goal to raise her children right and took on the role of father. Roman never quite understood the concept of his father being dead, as he'd often seen that cartoon cat on television die and come back a second later. However, as he got older and began to understand the process of life as shown on Discovery Channel, he began to feel the weight of his father's passing. At eleven years old, Roman Day shed his first tear for his father. ADOLESCENCE :- Puberty seemed to be going good for thirteen year old Roman. He'd gotten tall and lanky, and people often said he was beginning to resemble his father. He also appeared to be a natural-born athlete, being faster than the majority of the boys at his school in both running and swimming. According to his sister, he ran like a cheetah and swam like a fish. His grades were fairly good too. Life was looking up. On his fourteenth birthday, things got a lot weird. He and Artemis were outside trying to determine how heavy the family car was and what could lift it above shoulder height. The conversation went something like this: "It would probably take ten men." Artemis ventured a guess. "Or one man with the strength of an elephant." Roman replied, gripping the fender and heaving upwards, but to no avail. "Too bad that doesn't exist." "Yep. Or maybe a giant ant with strength twice its size. I wish I had the strength of an ant." Roman heaved upwards again and watched as the car flipped over in front of them, their mouths agape. "MUUUUUUUUUUUUUM!" Medina came out, looked at the car lying on its back, instructed her son to promptly turn it over again, and come inside when he was done. "But I don't know how," he whimpered, trying frantically to undo the damage, "because all I did was say I wish I had the strength of an ant and -" His explanation was interrupted by the car turning back over. He stepped back, whispered oh, and followed his bemused mother and shocked sister inside, where she explained what the hell had just happened. Apparently, the gene came from Medina, who was a SPB with the ability to heal others. The recruiter arrived a few days later, and Roman said his tearful goodbyes. The three years leading up to his turning eighteen have seen Roman hunkered down in the school library either reading a book or on his laptop researching animals, or training and expanding his abilities, while managing not to turn over anything particularly useful. |
ALL THE SMALL THINGS
POWER | ANIMAL MIMICRY |
POWER DESCRIPTION | The ability to mimic certain traits of animals, such as the strength of an elephant, speed of a cheetah, invisibility of a chameleon and so on without actually transforming into any of said animals. An example of this is the abilities of a lizard. Roman can use the lizard's regenerative properties to quicken the healing of small wounds inflicted on him by a slight percentage, or he can crawl and/or cling to surfaces using the adhesive properties of lizard feet. Roman can tap into one animal's abilities and use them simultaneously with little to some effort involved e.g walking up a wall while carrying an object twice his size. However, he cannot use the abilities of multiple animals simultaneously. Roman is currently only able to manifest the traits of six different animals in a row without collapsing. The amount of stamina required depends on the animal's size itself. At about the fifth or sixth animal, he will begin to experience a nosebleed. The duration of his mimicry is two hours. Outside of those two hours, he will become fatigued and even lose himself to the primal instinct of what he is channeling and experience difficulty in stopping or changing. |
SPECIAL ITEMS | Roman is not complete without his 'Animal Arsenal', a pack of animal flash cards with the respective dominant traits of said animals highlighted. This, he carries, in a pouch attached to his belt. |
