Dani had left the room immediately after Gem said to, throwing on her leather jacket over a t-shirt she knew he hadn't seen before. Sure, she wasn't a stupid kid, but she wasn't willing to admit that she had read the Percy Jackson series before coming to Calloway and then again after she started practicing with her powers. The Ares kids had always spoken to her since they were telumkinetics too. Maybe in another life...she was a daughter of Ares, the God of war rather than some hobo who had abandoned her for no reason. The lake wasn't far away, but getting to her spot in the boots she chose was a little harder. Still, once she was there she crouched down and then sat completely on the cold stone to wait for Gem. Her mind wanted to wander to all the things they needed to talk about, or what he really wanted, but she couldn't do that without risking another break down. Not now. The air had started to get much colder or maybe it was all in his head. He wouldn't deny he was nervous about meeting Dani down at the lake but not speaking to her had been a slow torture, one that hadn't seemed to stop yet. He had decided to dress uncharacteristically casual in a Seahawks pullover and jeans.
The sky was dark and gray and he found it to be oddly fitting as he strolled down to the lake one hand shoved in the pocket of his jeans the other grasping a lit cigarette. He made his way through the trees until he found the spot on the rocks. He saw her sitting there and had to resist the urge to run over and hug her. Hey Loser.

She was so focused on the water beside her that Dani almost didn't hear Gem walk up. He still startled her even with the small warning she got. This was going to end fantastically. Hey. She started, turning slightly on the rocks so that she could see him better. Part of her still wanted to be wrapped in his arms right not, staving off the cold and the loneliness sitting out on that rock by herself. So what do you want from me Gem? Shouldn't you be taking care of Raelynn or hanging out with your pal becca? Her voice didn't even sound mad anymore. She was just tired. Impossibly and endlessly.

He frowned when he startled her, he had tried his best not to. He timidly moved to step on the rocks paying no mind to the risk of falling, since he usually didn't. He moved to sit next to her though not close enough that they were touching. He stared into the water taking a hit of the cigarette in his hand, he finally spoke after blowing out a cloud of smoke Dani... I want you back in my life. That's what I want from you. I can't stand this.. He made a broad motion with his hand. He turned facing her I need you. There was a desperation in his voice that he couldn't cover up if he tried.

It's not that I don't believe you Gem...I just don't know how to go back to being just friends with you. Part of me wants to, but how? I mean, we had a good thing going and then...I just don't know how to get over that kind of hurt in a few days. She didn't need time or space, she needed closure and a reason why. He moved his gaze back to the moving water thinking about her words. The whole situation had broken him, being rejected by Rae had hurt he wouldn't deny that, there were feelings there but Dani had been the one to send him over the edge. Maybe it was the bond they had formed since day one or maybe something deeper than that. He hadn't truly felt like himself since he had gotten back he was distant and colder than usual. Though maybe he should be grateful since it had made him realize he needed her in more ways than to just be his best friend. then don't be my friend again... he bit his lip returning his gaze back to her face be my girl again... Whenever your ready. though his words came out mumbled. He looked skyward when a rain drops started to polka dot the rocks around them. again? Really?

It was like the cosmos had decided every time they had a decent conversation involving real emotions, it was going to rain. Pulling her hood up over her head, she finally gave up fighting it and scooted over enough to at least lean her head against his shoulder. I never wanted to stop being your girl, not really. I just...I sat there and I watched that video feed. I couldn't feel anything anymore and I couldn't turn it off. I did what I thought would make the hurting stop, but it only got worse.
The rock was completely covered with shining droplets of rain by the time she figured out what else to say. They should probably go back to the dorms or something. Before she could suggest that, a crack of lightening sounded behind her too close for her liking, the sound loud enough that she could feel it reverberating through the air. The boat house? She yelled over the pouring rain, standing up and sliding over the rocks in that direction. This was shaping up just perfectly.

When her head hit his shoulder it was like a little piece of his broken heart had been replaced. I know and I- His words were cut off by the sound of lightning, he felt dumb but the sound made him jump SHIT He yelled turning around as the skies opened up drenching them in the cold fall rain. He yanked the hood up over his head but it wasn't doing much, Gemini didn't mind the rain but it was seeping through his hoodie and into his long sleeved shirt underneath. There was no way they were making it back to the dorms. Yeah! he called back to her heading toward the boat house, while keeping a close eye on her to make sure she didn't slip on the way there.

It took her forever, slipping and sliding the whole way, but somehow she still managed to make it all the way to the boat house without an incident. They were lucky that the door wasn't locked, and even more so that the place was stocked up still even if the season was weird for rowing. Towels were stacked on a table and she grabbed one quickly, drying herself off the best that she could. Damn that was cold. She laughed, her teeth chattering and adrenaline pumping. She hadn't felt this alive since the Aurora incident. This was how they were supposed to be, how they had been before. Peeling her soaked jacket off to reveal the bright orange t-shirt underneath it, she looked around to see if she could find something else to wrap up in. The building was covered, but it wasn't necessarily warm when you factored in the rest of her clothes. There was no way she was getting sick now. Wrapping two more towels around herself, she walked over to one of the boats and climbed in, motioning for Gem to follow as she huddled in to one of the smaller spaces and hoped that at least they wouldn't let out anymore warmth. Thank goodness the smaller boats were in storage already for the season.

He followed her into the boat house, dani's slipping around had worried him but she had made it alright. he yanked the hoodie over his head the rain had soaked it and it was doing nothing to keep him warm anymore. He grabbed one of the towels running it over his head which only made his hair flip in wild directions. The boat house was still cold but at least it was dry, he climbed into the boat scooting up next to her. sorry I'm not one of those fire powered SPBs I'd be able to keep you warm... Gemini normally didn't mind his power but lately it has proven to be more useless than ever he couldn't protect Raelynn from being stabbed, he couldn't keep Dani warm, really what good were backflips and being able to keep from being hit. Her orange shirt was bright even though it was wet, he hadn't recalled seeing it ever. He tugged at the sleeve what's this?

Dani huddled up against him as the rain started falling harder, the wind howling through the trees around them. These were the times that she hated being away from the city. The rain had never sounded like this to her. I wouldn't want to change your power if I could. Who else would I play coffee creamer demolition with? Besides, I tried cuddling with Ryan once. Too hot. I didn't like it. Curling closer in to one of her makeshift blankets, she briefly wondered if there was someone she could call that could come get them. A kinetic of some sort. Hopefully we can get out of here soon. I'm freezing.
His noticing of her Camp Half Blood shirt made her blush, but she wasn't quite embarrassed. If he could be a super hero nerd, she could have a favorite book series. It's like, the only books I ever finished. Percy Jackson was awesome and don't get me started on the Ares kids. Some of them are telumkinetic too, which is even better because I read it before my powers manifested. I kinda always hoped when I was in the homes that some day someone would come along and say that my dad was gone because he was secretly the God of War himself. Her own body heat just wasn't going to be enough to cut it and the rain wasn't showing any signs of letting up soon. Maybe cuddling was more of a survival thing than a forgiveness one...or maybe she really did want to be his girl again.

He made her nervous because of the whole turning in to pure fire thing, even though he was a super nice guy and she thought they could be friends. She almost rolled her eyes when he called her babe, but didn't. Despite the rain he felt warmer than she did and the hypothermia thing seemed like a real concern. it might just be nature's way of killing us together. You know...we could try to make a run for it. I mean, my dorm is close. She bit her lip as her mind started to wander back towards their conversation before the rain started. Maybe that would be a better place to start. So did you mean it? Being your girl again, I mean. What happened to Rae?

Things are just kind of weird and then...there's this other girl that I couldn't stop thinking about from the moment I left, it honestly broke that tiny Icey rock that's somewhere in here. he said moving his hand over his chest. Ah. She broke rule number one. One of these days I'm going to tell them they have to achieve best friend status before they get to do that. Seriously, they had been friends for years before either of them had said love. Maybe that was what was different. She had taken the time to get to know him before they went and did their thing, but now...now it was something different and she liked it. Almost too much. I don't know if I can do things the way they were. At least not right this minute. I'm still working myself out again and this whole aurora, becca thing... It's just not the same anymore. She seriously felt like someone had beaten her. She didn't want to move or even try anymore, but Gem was here and he wanted to. That had to count for something.
