PERSONALITY | Ki Hye doesn't want to be at Ashford. The girl would rather be training and focusing on her future career in the Olympics. This is very clear as she's not exactly what one would consider a friendly face. Her lips are often molded into a soft frown, and her eyes often shift to the side avoiding contact with anyone. Ki Hye blames the school for ruining years of hard work, even if doing so was for her own good. As such, she's currently somewhat unpleasant to be around. Everything is 'glass half empty' to her. She rarely looks on the bright side of things. Given how her life consisted mainly of training and studying, Ki Hye is very sheltered. She isn't brave. While the girl had no problem preforming in front of crowds and stadiums, Ki Hye isn't one to face actual danger. Every time, the girl will flee for her life. After all, she isn't a super hero. Her very existence has revolved around training and studying up until this semester. Now that she has more free time than she knows what to do with, Ki Hye has begun experimenting with things she's never gotten to do. The most obvious one is her dramatic choice of eye shadow. |

SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW
HISTORY | Ki Hye was born to Mi Hwan in North Korea. Shortly after her birth, her mother used her connections within the state to smuggle herself and her daughter out of the country. Eventually, when Ki Hye was three years old, they wound up in New York City. The two of them were granted asylum. Her mother had been the daughter of a military general in North Korea, so she had been one of the privileged. As such, she was educated and was able to find work despite struggling with the language. Her mother became infatuated with American culture. She decided to give her daughter the closest thing to an ideal life. Ki Hye was always being signed up for extra programs and activities at her school. At the age of five, gymnastics just stuck and her coaches all praised the girl, saying she was talented. This trend would continue as she won more and more tournaments. Finally, Ki Hye was accepted to a special athletes school in sixth grade. This is where her training became more intense and she found herself with less and less free time. By the time she was in eight grade, Ki Hye's life revolved around studying and training. Everyone was saying that the girl had what it took to go the next Olympics. In fact, her mother had already been contacted by a team trainer. It seemed that Ki Hye's life was on the fast track for greatness. That is, until she started seeing things. For three weeks, the girl thought she was going insane. Everything she touched jumped out at her mind, showing images and telling stories. It wasn't until Ki Hye was certain that she was certifiably mad that the school came to her. Her parents both opposed the school. They insisted that Ki Hye was just going through a phase- that if they took her now, her entire life would have been for nothing. After all, she was set to appear in the next Olympics. However, after a day or two of arguing with the man from the academy, her parents seemed to eerily change their minds. Ki Hye didn't like it. Something was up with the man who came to get her. She didn't like how he somehow managed to manipulate her parents, but now that they were somehow all for her going to a strange school, there was nothing she could do about it. |
ALL THE SMALL THINGS
POWER | PSYCHOMETRY |
POWER DESCRIPTION | Whenever Ki Hye touches something, she gets mental flashes or visions of the item's history. She can see who owned the item, who has interacted with said item and what was done with the item. The flashes cannot be stopped and can be very violent or oppressive to the girl. Because of this, the girl rarely makes contacts with items in her surroundings or others within her vicinity. After all, clothing is considered an item. One should note that her ability does not work on living creatures. So, she can touch people and animals just fine. Should she enter a place where a single person or a constant group of people have frequented, such as a bedroom, a small church or a classroom at the end of a school year, Ki Hye will find herself buffeted with strange feelings and visions just at the edge of her mental spectrum- or vibes if you will. The more traumatic or violent a memory, the stronger and more abrasive they will be to the girl's mind. Items or rooms with memories of death can knock her out. Because of how her power works, Ki Hye cannot even own items for long periods of times- as her ability will show her memories of her using them. As such, she rarely owns things for more than a week or two. |
SPECIAL ITEMS | Special gloves used to handle expensive electronics that she can't afford to get rid of. These gloves are replaced nearly every week. |
