The ability to live longer than a normal person means that, while she appears young, Tris is actually very old. Physically she ages slowly, at about the rate of one month every two or three years. She's not sure exactly how to find that out though, so she isn't positive that she's not aging slower.
A quirk in her power does actually allow her to turn it off, but if she does then she ages at about three times the normal speed. Not only is this dangerous, but it is difficult. She has to actively concentrate on making herself age and tries to do it as seldom as possible.
Tris can still get sick or injured, but at least her power never tires her out. If anything it's more difficult to not use it than it is to just let her power do what it wants.

After so many years of living, Tristan had never expected to encounter another day that truly felt long. This one had somehow managed to drag on eternally, pulling her along with it. It was the first day she had forced herself out in to public since her beloved son's untimely death and the first time she had run his business without him there. She missed him, as much as she missed her grandchildren, her parents, her brother... Jasper. The last name to come to mind as she walked from the theater to her home came with bittersweet memories. maybe now was the time to contact that old flame. The ball and chain he had been so worried about was effectively gone, but could she live with someone...no, her son was too important and it was too soon. Calloway park sprawled out in front of her as Tristan pulled her jacket closer in the chilly autumn air. Luckily the children her son employed were competent enough to handle themselves when she was away, otherwise she'd be out later when it was colder. As it was she found herself staring at an old tree in the center of the park, one with her name carved in the side. it was ancient, she knew that much. Memories tried to catch up with her as Tristan finally took a step back to sit on a nearby bench. The breeze was crisp, but tolerable. Maybe she would just sit there for a while and reminisce until it was cold enough for her to go inside. outfit | linktags | JASPER CHARLES COOPERmusic | jet pack blues-fallout boy notes | FINALLY.

| Jasper had decided to take a stroll through Calloway park, ever since coming to Calloway he had been on a mission to explore every part of it and with Gemini being the constant yet distant pain in the rear he had plenty of free time to do so. There was no way he was going to help him fix up that old motorcycle now. He found himself in Calloway park after strolling around admiring the trees that were starting to become bare from the winter weather moving in, what leaves were left had turned the beautiful colors of fall. Jasper had always enjoyed parks, particularly Central Park. Maybe he should go back to New York if his marriage continued to fall through but Gem needed him right now even if he didn't know it.
Thinking back to Central Park made him think back to Tris and that made him feel a pain in his heart that nothing else did, not even his rocky marriage. He regretted every day for the 60 some years that he had let her go. If now Jasper ran into 1940's Jasper he'd probably kick his ass and tell him to grow up, that he'd end up settling down anyway, eventually and he he'd no more ready then than he was back in the 40's. He just had bigger motivation then, a 7lb 21inch,auburn haired, green eyed motivation. At least it had taken him forty-six years to settle down and he didn't do it right after they split, he could imagine that wouldn't have made Tris very happy, not that she'd ever know anyway. He fished the cigarette out that he had tucked behind his ear, he used one hand to light it and the other to shield the flame from the autumn breeze. The breeze had managed to knock the fedora off his head onto the ground Shit. He mumbled under his breath as he bent to pick it up, brushing it off. He placed it back on his head humming an old tune to himself taking a puff off of his cigarette.
A red head sitting on a bench a few feet away caught his eye, her silhouette was all too familiar, he felt like he had just seen a ghost, a beautiful red headed, love of his life ghost. The thought distracted him enough that he forgot to exhale and choked on the smoke of his cigarette No. It can't be. Not after all this time. Not here. Not now.

. She had seen the man enter, but Tristan was too wrapped up in her own thoughts to acknowledge his presence. The coughing finally caught her attention as she looked up to see the very man she had been thinking about. After all this time, he was finally there. Hello Jasper. Fancy meeting you in my sleepy home town. She greeted, her voice light and distant. This wasn't how she had planned things to happen. Maybe when she was done mourning her boy she would've found him, but why now. Why here. Standing to face him, she tried to make her expression as neutral as possible. I guess I should welcome you to Calloway then, Mr. Cooper. It's a shame it took you so long to visit. Might I ask why? years of practice made her tone civil, but on the inside she couldn't decide whether to kiss him, slap him, or simply break down and cry. Men were so...complicated. outfit | linktags | JASPER CHARLES COOPERmusic | jet pack blues-fallout boy notes | FINALLY.

| Jasper couldn't even begin to sort of the feelings that were swirling around in his head. Disbelief, shock, dread, excitement, nostalgia, love. Was this really happening? He hadn't seen her in almost forty years and yet here She was. Everything about the moment was surreal, obviously he knew that Tristan also had super human longevity, of course she had hardly aged but it never really sunk in until then. Until he was staring at the love of his life from forty years ago who looked like she had hardly aged since then. He was surprised by the casualness in her voice as if they had happened to just bump into each other at the grocery store, instead of almost a decade later by complete chance My son.. were the only words he managed to get out as he tried to will his voice to work. He closed the gap between them reaching out his hand to touch her cheek. He needed some confirmation that She was real, that she was here. Tris.. He whispered.

Her resolve to stay aloof and distant broke when he said her name. The part about having a son went mostly unnoticed as well, her shock evident. "Jazz..." She whispered, leaning in to his touch as a white gloved hand moved to rest above his. "It took you long enough Jasper. I've missed you." He was the only person she might not out live, the one she could count on if he ever chose to stay. Not that she expected him to, but she secretly hoped he would. They had been apart for far too long, even for people who were guaranteed such long lives. Without a second thought, she threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly with no regard to whether or not things had changed.

| His hand dropped from her face as his arms moved to encircle her waist as he hugged her back I know.I've missed you too. For a moment he felt like it was the 40's again and everything was right in the world, it was just him and Tris but it was just that, a moment. He stepped back out of her embrace the last thing he needed to do was have Gemini catch him hugging another woman alone in the park. he hadn't ever talked to Gemini about his life before the 60's. He did not know about Tris and he didn't know about the rocky relationship with Autumn, it wasn't a conversation he wanted to have with his son at this point. I could ask you what you've been up to since the last time we talked, but I just don't think we have that kind of time. Well, we have that kind of time, but you know what I mean.

His words confused her as she took a step back herself. Jazz, we have all the time in the world. Unless you have somewhere to be already, that is. Her brows were furrowed as she tried to think of a reaason why he was pushing her away like this. Surely things were going to be a little different, but not this much. I was just thinking about looking for you. Once the house and the cinema are sold, I won't be here anymore. There's nothing left tying me to Calloway. My niece splits her time between Texas and New York, and my Stephen...well, he inherited his father's power and not mine. It was his time though. His babies were waiting too long. Her precious grandchildren would have to wait a long while longer for Nana, but that had ceased to depress her long ago.

| He couldn't help the feeling of his heart skipping every time she said his name, the name she was only allowed to use. His eyes narrowed No, No it's not that. He moved to sit down on the bench not sure He had the strength to stand anymore. This whole thing was too wild and too overwhelming. He smiled slightly when She mentioned New York, He missed New York terribly Oh Tris... He trailed off he couldn't imagine the pain she was feeling from losing her son, one he was not looking forward to facing but it was inevitable. I'm so sorry to hear about Stephan. His eyes filled with pity for her. Though he knew this wasn't the first time Tris had experienced loss and it wouldn't be the last time.He felt guilty for mentioning Gemini earlier now, but it didn't seem that Tris had noticed. He pulled another cigarette out, since his last had become lost in their meeting. After lighting it, he took a hit of it blowing out the smoke slowly. Maybe if he was lucky these would kill him. He was a good kid.

Tris nodded and sat down on the bench beside him, leaving plenty of room between them. He was. He was elderly though and o know it couldn't have been easy on him to pretend that I was a cousin or some other relative. Most recently I was a nurse. out of her purse, she produced her own cigarette and lighter. Too bad all of those stupid commercials hadn't come true yet. She didn't believe in suicide, but that didn't mean she wouldn't condone a few ways of killing herself slowly. Smoking was her favorite. You....you said something earlier. About a son? I never thought you would settle down Jazz There was a little pain evident in her tone, but she wasn't sure why. It had been over forty years since he left her. Well over, closer to sixty if she actually took the time to count. The likeliness of him loving her at all was slim. They were just convenient to each other. At least, that's what she told herself.

| Before She could light her cigarette Jasper leaned over lighting it for her the way a gentleman should. Jasper nodded sometimes it was as hard for their relatives to live this life with them as it was for them them. For a second his usual proper demeanor diminished in front of Tris and he turned and gave her a smile You always did play a good nurse. his tone suggestive. He heard the pain in her voice when he mentioned settling down.He took another long drag off the cigarette, he wasn't sure he wanted to have this conversation, he knew that after every thing that happened between that that it had been unfair for him to turn around and give another woman exactly what Tris had wanted. Yeah, He's eighteen and a little too doll dizzy though. Jasper stared at the cigarette between his fingers watching the smoke float off of it. It wasn't exactly by choice, I mean it was. i just... He turned to look at Tris I got her pregnant. He normally didn't tell people why he had married Autumn, they often spun the story like it was just by coincidence that everything just happened to fall into place. He had grown fond of Autumn over the years, he'd even say that he loved her. He had decided to tell Tris as a way to justify why he'd settled down with Autumn and not her.

So Jaspers old fashioned morals had shackled him to the ball and chain after all. She wanted to laugh or cry, but she didn't. Instead she just nodded and took a long drag from her cigarette. I should've known when you never came back that something had happened. I just assumed you were waiting until Stephen was too old to need a father. back when her little boy was still a young man, needing guidance and a firm hand. She hadn't expected that from Jasper, but the threat of it sent him running. Looke like you ended up with a boy just like you though. You deserve it.

| Tristan, I wanted to come looking for you. I did it's just- He stopped himself. He was a married man regardless of how much good it was doing him. It's just I knew I'd fall right back in love with you.The irony was almost painful the idea of having a family had torn him away from his one true love and yet here he was with a family. He made a face at her I wasn't really that was I? If Gemini was any kind of example of what he deserved for his actions than he really must have been a huge pain in the ass. He is just like me...Though I'd like to think that isn't too horrible, right? He asked his eyebrows raised in a questioning look. Though he wasn't sure what her answer would be She could still be quite angry for leaving her.
