APPEARANCE | Remington was a sheltered and overly protected child that made him the spoiled kid he is today, however, one cannot deny that his parents ways of parenting kept him safe! The worst physical pain he experienced as a child was the quick sting of a paper cut. He has no birthmarks, and would never think about "tainting" his skin with a tattoo. He himself has no problems with tattoos, but his parents instilled in him that they were tasteless, and would only harm his dashing looks that he so proudly boasts about. Valentine dresses to impress, always one to wear expensive clothes and is only impressed by high end brands. However, the overall style is definitely nothing but casual. An avid fan of pastel blues and yellows, his t-shirts are always easy on the eyes. Not too big on accessories, he usually wears a gold Rolex watch and leaves it at that. In the cooler months, you can be sure he'll bundle up in a cozy snow white turtleneck sweater. He adores knitwear, and it's basically all he models in the winter seasons. |
BEYOND THE LOOKING GLASS
LIKES | Tea, daytime, tea bag covers, coffee, elongated coins, reading daily horoscopes, amusement parks, using spirits to cheat on homework (he's met a few kind souls, or devious, however you perceive it,) movies that center around possession, anything expensive, misc. facts, surfing (the Internet and the waves,) soccer |
DISLIKES | Being a medium (the boy is learning to love it though, steadily,) sinister spirits, stuffy social events planned by his parents, small events (bigger is better in his book!) knockoff brands, broken promises, superficial beings, other people's snoring, vanilla ice cream, pickles, infomercials |
BEST SUBJECT | Mathematics |
WORST SUBJECT | Social Studies |
STRENGTHS | Outstanding endurance, can get spiritual aid if needed (can't deny that they can have their uses!) wealthy, exceedingly lively/extroverted, optimistic |
WEAKNESSES | Forgetful, afraid of the dark (due to apparitions popping out in the night,) insomniac (horribly tired at the beginning of the day,) egoistic, firm believer that money solves all of life's problems |
HOBBIES | Running/Jogging, collecting elongated coins, obsessing over zodiac signs and compatibility, occult lore |
PET PEEVES | Those who chew with their mouths open, the stares he gets for appearing to be talking to himself (when, in actuality, chances are he's bickering with a ghost,) when he's walking alongside someone and they cannot match his brisk pace, different food groups mixing |
PERSONALITY | Pampered, coddled, and sheltered at a tender age, Remington has grown never experiencing physical or emotional pain, a vital thing that should be dealt with during the process of development. Because of this, he is naive with how the world works. He does not comprehend what it means to truly struggle, and is ignorantly oblivious to those who do. His parents have always set the prime example, and is the sole reason why their son is so materialistic. He must have the latest, most extortionate of items. Wealth has inflated this particular teen's ego, and he exhibits narcissism. Boasting about his charming appearances and stacks of money, he can get rather irritating in this aspect, but all pompous behavior aside, you find an animated boy who just wasn't properly taught that social class means nothing when it comes down to the nitty gritty of a relationship, and not everyone puts him on the same pedestal he does himself. In fact, Remington is an exceptionally cordial boy who persistently aims to have conversations with everyone in his immediate vicinity and has no issues with striking up conversations, albeit, he is still somewhat bashful about his sexuality (he came out mere months ago,) becoming faintly meek around any male he finds remotely attractive and has blossoming feelings for. Carefree, Valentine does not mope and fret over his future or really any form of conflict, waving it off as "Oh, money can fix that!" Aimless, this sixteen year old has no idea what he wants to do with his life after schooling. Envying those who have a goal in life, he can get uncharacteristically down about it at times. Remington has a love hate relationship with spirits, and though he's been living with them for three years now, some can still really frighten the boy. While he attempts to maintain a cool and collected facade when occurring a ghost in social situations, he visibly trembles and his voice quivers if the phantom so happens to be appalling. At the end of the day, yes, he has overflowing amounts of positive self-esteem and importance, but he's a goofball who'll do anything to turn others frowns upside down and just live life one step at a time. |
THE HOUSE THAT BUILT ME
MOTHER | GENESIS BEE VALENTINE (NEE PARKER) - 49 - FASHION DESIGNER - "I'm a bit of a momma's boy, haha. She's the most important person in my life, hell, she's the only one who fully supported me when I first came out. I wouldn't trade her for the world. " |
FATHER | CORNELIUS REED VALENTINE - 39 - UNEMPLOYED - "Um.. He's alright, I suppose. Even though he's home all day, we've never really had a relationship. Us talking just gets.. awkward. Between you and me - I think he may be having an affair. Always sneaking off in the middle of the night and bringing this one woman home, says she's just an old friend. I need to follow him sometime.." |
SIBLINGS | ROGUE JAX VALENTINE - 20 - OWNS A RECORD STORE - BROTHER - "Ah, man. We fight like any siblings do from time to time, but at the end of the day, he's one of the most influential people in my life and is my role model. We only had each other growing up - we have a pretty tight bond." |
OTHER | Currently, there are no other influential people in Remington's life. |
SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW
HISTORY | A drizzling mid-summers night was when Remington came into this world. Born to a spunky fashionista, Genesis, and a timid young (and I mean young,) man named Cornelius, he was handed a life of luxury and without cause for worry the second he left the womb. His early childhood was safe, warm, and filled with inviting memories with his family. Like any pair of rowdy boys, Remington and his older brother, Rogue, had their fair share of disputes, but always came back with a healthier, stronger relationship than before in the end of their immature spouts. Otherwise, Remington (luckily,) has never had anything traumatizing happen in his life up until this point and he lived like your average, everyday child, aside from his ability to see the deceased that surfaced later in his life. When he began to get in his older years of childhood was when his father distanced himself from the family. He was never a prominent figure in their family in the first place, always just seeming, well, to be there. Disdain for his family had manifested through the years, having Rogue when he was only nineteen years old and Genesis had been twenty-nine, at the age she was perfectly ready to settle down. Cornelius, however, still had ambitious dreams at the time yet had to pack them all away to bunker down and be a father. The rest of the family stayed strong, still having beautiful relationships that would last Remington till the present. When he reached those confusing preteen years was when Remington's powers had started to bubble to the surface. Constantly he felt chills down his spine, and the "I feel like someone's watching me," was all too real. It was when he reached the age of thirteen that he finally was able to physically see the very presences he felt beforehand on a daily basis. It was also at this time his insomnia started to develop. Not knowing what was going on, he'd have people the rest of his family could not see popping out of various nooks and crannies. Some appeared normal, others were completely mutilated. Any attempts at sleep had become unfruitful, the wails of the damned echoing in his head. His parents were awfully concerned. As any normal parent would be. Having your child screaming and wailing about seeing people you couldn't, well, they assumed his head wasn't screwed on as tight as it should be. Rogue, at this time, separated himself from Remington, all too horrified. Like most kids that attend Ashford, Remington's parents were confronted by one of the staff on a brisk Sunday afternoon. It only felt as mere minutes later that Remington was packing and being shipped off on his fourteenth birthday. He remains in contact with his family, and Rogue has long since came back to his brother's side. Remington's freshman year was full of wonder, laughs, and experimentation. Nothing too noteworthy happened his first year at Ashford other than he came out to his parents and close chums. Going into his Sophomore year, Remington is anxious as to what adventures will await him this school year. Hoping to branch out, he yearns to befriend many more this time around, across all grades. Before having been too secluding into just befriending fellow Freshmen. |
ALL THE SMALL THINGS
POWER | Mediumship |
POWER DESCRIPTION | Viewing his power more as a curse than a gift, Mediumship blesses Remington with the presence of spirits - allowing him to physically see ghosts and interact with them. While not always a horrid thing, as he can speak with, say, a deceased relative, he is also plagued by many unwanted apparitions and he never knows exactly when a specter will appear, part of the reason he developed insomnia. He can, at times, make deals with these phantoms to aid him, though not all are imitations of Casper the Friendly Ghost! Remington has made his fair share of bargains with meticulous ghouls, and they always ask for something horrendous. The longer Remington chats with a ghost, the more prone he is to succumb to possession. Depending on the apparition itself, it can either be painfully obvious he is by no means himself, or, it can be discreet as it tries to cause mayhem in Remington's body - the host. Strengths of spirits vary, which ultimately decides how long they can make Remington's body a home. It is ordinarily an hour at least for him to kick out the average soul. There have been times, for favors, he has wholeheartedly consented to a friend's deceased family member or friend to posses him and spend some time together. After being possessed, Remington experiences major fatigue, headaches and occasionally vomits. |
SPECIAL ITEMS | Remington, in fear of possession, even though there are capable staff around, owns a talisman in the form of a necklace. It appears to be a cheap thing, and his parents/roommates have almost thrown it out multiple times. It's a feeble one, and can really only ward off equally feeble spirits. Still, it brings him ease to have it in his pocket. Other than his precious talisman, he hasn't brought anything much else to school with him aside from, what he deems, necessary electronics. I.e phone. |
