Gemini was seated at his computer when he heard the soft knock. “Come in” he yelled without turning toward the door. Seth stepped into his room closing the door behind him with an awkward wave.
“Hey.” Gem turned around only to see a look of wonder on Seth’s face as he looked around his room. Gem cocked an eyebrow “What?” He glanced around his room to try and figure out what had Seth so surprised.
“It’s just so normal. I guess I was expecting something a little more…I don’t know what I was expecting.” Seth’s voice fell just above a mumble.He should have just said nothing but Seth had a problem where he was too honest with his thoughts.Gemini stared at him for a second “Something a little more 50 shades?" Gem asked finally picking up on where Seth was going. He laughed "I keep all of it under the bed.” He said with trying to keep his face straight.
“Oh, I…Yeah..that makes sense." Seth stuttered not really sure how to respond to such information.
“Dude. Kidding.” Seth looked thoroughly uncomfortable and it made Gemini laugh “Or Am I?” This kid was the definition awkward. Gemini had half the mind to ask him if he had even slept with a girl but came to conclusion he didn’t care enough and that was for Raven to figure out. The quicker he finished with Seth the better.
“Alright, let’s get started on this guy time or whatever. Go stand over there.” He said motioning to the center of his room where he could get the best look at Seth. Gemini’s authoritative tone made Seth immediately want to obey and he shuffled into the center of the room meekly hands in his pockets. Gemini stood and circled him eyes narrowed, “First of all Seth, stand up straight. Confidence is important in anything you do but especially important when it comes to women. If you want girls to think your irresistible. You have to think you are.” Gemini had to laugh to himself as he repeated the same thing his father had told him four years ago when he had been a nerdy kid with too much baby fat, no fashion sense and a hair cut that left his wavy hair out of control.
“Second of all, Your shirt is too big, you’re wearing the wrong size pants, get a clean pair of shoes and what the hell is this?” Gem jerked on the end of Seth’s belt that was not only too long but he had let the excess hang off instead of tucking it in.
“Well it’s a belt.” Seth responded a little sarcastically. Gem rolled his eyes
“Thank you, It looks sloppy. You can dress casual without looking sloppy.” Gem went to his closet he wasn’t even going to bother asking Seth if he had any clothes he could wear to the date this was an emergency. He pulled a few items shirts and pants, holding them up against Seth. “Yeah I was afraid of that.” He out loud but it was more for himself than Seth.
Seth raised an eyebrow “What am I that hopeless?” Seth asked anxiety starting to creep in to his voice, if Gemini couldn’t help him who could?
Gem let out a sigh “No, But you’re about two inches shorter than me, which means all my pants will be too long and your build is leaner which means my shirts will be too big too. “ Gemini might have been fit but he was broad and tall which made dressing gangly Seth a problem. “mm. I know what we will do.”Gem pulled his phone out shooting a text out to someone other than Dani for once. “You’re lucky Dani has me wrapped around her little finger right now. Red hair and corsets were promised.” Gem said replacing the clothes he had taken out back in his closet.
“Oh, I didn’t realize you two were dat-“
Gem cut him off before he could finish his sentence “A thing.” There was something that made him uncomfortable about people recognizing them as ‘together’ he didn’t care if people saw them together but the label made him shudder, it was illogical and stupid but it was there.“Listen Seth, I can only make you look good I can’t make you have confidence and I sure as hell can’t turn you into me, though I’m not sure anyone could handle that and If we’re being honest I don’t think Raven would want you to be. She’s a nice girl so just be yourself, well. Sort of. Not too much.” Gemini was relieved when his sentimental speech was interrupted by a knock at the door. “Enter.” He yelled again. Jasper opened the door, a stack of clothes folded neatly in his arms.
“Gemini, Is that really how you answer a door?” Jasper asked as he entered the room. He caught Seth out of the corner of his eye “Oh. I see what you mean.”
Seth’s face was thoroughly confused as to why Doctor Cooper was standing in Gemini’s dorm. The last names clicked and Seth mouthed “oh” with a head nod “I didn’t realize you had an older brother.” He said. Jasper glanced sideways at Gemini and Gemini rolled his eyes “Lucky for you, you and my dad share a similar build. Well height and weight at least.” What clarity Seth was feeling turned into complete confusion “Your dad? but-” Gemini took the clothes from Jasper and held them up against Seth. “Yeah, Superhuman Longevity is a marvelous thing for some people.”
“That one” Jasper pointed to a black sweater ignoring the rest of the question.
“Agreed, with these jeans.” Gemini held a pair of jeans up against Seth’s waist. Gem shoved the clothes at him “Alright let’s see it.” Seth caught the clothes glancing between the two, he was still trying to soak in the whole early twenties looking father. “You want me to just…” Seth wasn’t sure how comfortable he felt changing in front of the two.
“Seriously, dude?” Gemini and Jasper turned to face the wall while Seth changed.
“Alright. Done” Seth said holding out his arms. Jasper and Gemini turned around to look at Seth. “That’s an improvement“ Jasper said offering his son a high five which Gem took.
“Good Job, but I have papers to grade So I’ll see you later. We will get dinner at some point.”
“Yep, I’ll text you.” With that the door clicked behind Jasper as he left. Gemini went to his dresser pulling out a belt handing it to Seth. “Here, And tuck this one in. Do you have cologne?” Seth slid the belt though the loops of the jeans fastening the buckle.
“Uhm, I have some axe, I think.”
Gemini brought his palm up to his forehead. “Seriously how old are you? Are you twelve about to hit puberty? Get some real cologne, you know made for men.”
“Yeah sure… So how is it having a dad who uh, looks like that?” Seth couldn’t think of a better way to it. Gemini was digging through his mass collection of hair products in search of something to tame Seth’s hair.
“You mean one that girls want to throw themselves at? Well. It sucked when I was preteen and just starting puberty. All the girls would want to hang out with me which of course I was super stoked about and then they'd spend the entire time asking about my “hot older brother.” He made the quotations with his fingers before grabbing a navy blue bottle and a comb. “It wasn’t his fault but It was definitely a bit of a self esteem killer.” Gemini wasn’t sure why he was opening up to Seth about his family and quickly decided that was enough information for one day. Gem added some gel to Seth’s hair combing it in a couple different directions until it was where he thought it looked best. He stepped back admiring his work. “Alright, do you think you can recreate this tomorrow? If not text me I guess but you’ll have to learn to dress yourself eventually.” Seth looked at himself in mirror he was kind of impressed
“Uh. Thank You, I appreciate it. I think.” Gem just nodded gathering up Seth’s other clothes off the floor “Just don’t be late tomorrow and get your hobo clothes out of my room.” He tried to keep a straight face with the last part but he didn’t want to make Seth cry “I’m teasing dude.” He shoved Seth out the door, eagerly awaiting for Dani and her new red hair.
