Nodding, Becca stared out the window for a minute. There was a twinge of guilt as she realized that she had thrown Dani under the bus. Sure there were rumors that she didn't really know what was what. Maybe Dani just used the bad girl attitude to keep people in line. I'm sure she'll be happy to have someone looking out for her that doesn't have a personal agenda. I hear that the guy she's hanging out with, Ralph, is a pretty good kid and the one she went on a date with is the best. Ralph would be a welcome addition to her little group of friends if he wasn't so hung up on Dani. Seth however was already done of them, part of the inner circle. He would be good for Raven.

Rich wasn't sure how to feel about his little sister going on a date. The he had to remind himself that she was eighteen and honestly could do whatever she wanted in a sense. That didn't change the fact that he was going to try being a big brother. "I guess it is good thing that not all of her friends are sketchy" he was glad she wasn't some social outcast he really needed to talk with her though. That and have a chat with that roommate of hers. He was going to get an idea on who his sister called friends. Sure it might not be what she would want. "Not sure how well she will receive me though. I don't even have her number. She has a bit of a sour attitude towards the family. Hopefully she will warm up to the idea of having her brother around" Rich realized that he was talking an awful lot about himself and a sister who didn't want to see him. "Goodness where are my manners? So what is your story. Even the locals must have some interesting tidbits about themselves Like favorite places in a small town" He turned the conversation back to Becca. It was the polite thing to do. Also it was always a good idea to get some information about another.

I'm sure Raven will do much better with some supervision, even if she isn't grateful for it right off. Becca reassured him, giving a bright smile as she finished speaking. The question about herself threw her for a little bit of a loop though. Her story was interesting, but a little depressing on occasion. I've lived here since I was born, though I'm still trying to figure out some of that for myself. You see, my mother was mentally ill when my sister and I were born. Some form of OCD. My father died under mysterious circumstances, she remarried, and hid my twin away from the world. Why was she telling this guy all of this? Probably for some perspective from an outside source. If anything, it just proved to her that she wasn't crazy when she said it out loud. Anyways, that guy adopted me and raised me as his own, he died when I was seven and my mother ran off with my twin and abandoned us both after a few days. My aunt raised me and I work part time at the local bbq joint that she used to run. It's crazy and chaotic, but it's my life. Over the last few months, she had at least come to terms with that much.

Part of Rich couldn't believe the story that Becca told. The more he thought about it the more he started to believe. He used to wonder how parents could abandon or hurt their children. He was the golden boy of his family and for the longest time never noticed how screwed up it really was. With realizing how horribly his sister was treated he knew anything was possible. "That is quite a story. I hate to say that there was time when I would not have believed it. That is one twisted situation" Rich didn't want her to feel like she was crazy and was glad that she shared that with him. "Something good did come out of it though, right?" He had to believe that there was a happy ending to all the chaos. No matter how bad thing would get there was also something good to be gained. At least that is how he saw things.

Of course it did. I finally met my twin earlier this year, I still have a loving and supporting adoptive family. It's all about perspective. Becca grinned, her normally sunny disposition showing through despite the grim topic. Why would she be any different? She was alive, healthy, and safe. Some people waited their entire lives to feel like she did every day. Besides, there was no way she could change the past, even if she wanted to. That was definitely not part of her power. So, if your here for the university, what is your major if you don't mind my asking.

Rich nodded, perspective was everything. "Well that is good to hear. No matter how crazy it was everything still turned out alright" He returned the smile. Family was everything. He was always told a family could make or break a person which is why he wanted to fix his. The topic change was appreciated. "Business Administration Major with a minor in French Studies" He smiled. The business degree was for his father and the french was for himself. It was his favorite language. His favorite class was math though. Numbers always made sense to him. "What about you? Have you declared a major?" He asked wondering what his conversational partner was going to school for.

Business and French. That's an interesting pairing. I skipped over French in high school and took the Latin class Becca conceded. The older language had always appealed to her. It was the root of the romantic languages, something she took pride in knowing. Despite being perceived as a ditsy blonde most of the time, Becca was in general quite intelligent. It was a catch twenty of sorts of she had ever seen one. Right now I'm majoring in Secondary Education with an English option, but I've considered changing it to straight English and going for my doctorate. Either way I would like to teach something.

"I took Spanish and French growing up so I can speak them fluently. I just like French more. The business is mainly because of family. Need a degree to take over the family business" He gave her a coy smile at the last part. It was a lot more than just a simple small family business. But he did love french. He did find it funny that she was majoring in his least favorite subject. He never cared for English class, maybe he just didn't have the right teacher. "That is a great carrier choice. It is a very honorable desire. You must love working with people right?" He did have a great deal of respect for those who wanted to go into education. He could never see himself teach secondary. Maybe university level but as much of a people person he was he was better with business deal than a classroom. He didn't mind being a teachers assistant. That is the job he had taken up at Ashford and was looking forward to it.

Being able to speak that many languages would be amazing. I can barely manage the one. Becca laughed. Having an adult conversation with someone besides Aurora was refreshing to say the least. Living on campus was definitely not doing her any favors at this point in life.Some times I love people, other times I think it's practical. My powers are fairly out of control, so it helps to find a position where I'll always be close to the school. Safety in numbers, you know? Even though Liam had helped her considerably, there was no telling if that control would last or how she would fair outside of the city limits. She wasn't brave enough to find out.

"It is quite useful in my field of work. Just have to learn Mandarin Chinese then I will be the most wanted business man around" Rich laughed. Sure leaning Mandarin was on the to do list but not any time soon. "I could teach you some French if you want to learn" He offered with one of his signature charming grins.  Safety in numbers or safety having the numbers. He never knew which one was better. He fully believed in making sure he had enough allies or at least people he could use willingly. "That does make sense. But I am sure you will be able to lean control. You are doing such a great job now with not making water go everywhere and you obviously are smart with the prospects of attempting a doctorate" He was good at praising people  and noting he said didn't have some form of truth in it. He was sure she could do anything even control such a wild ability.

Because I'm calm. If I get too excited or angry, I can either her focus and do cool things or I can lose it completely. Kinetics had it the worst in her opinion. Often times there wasn't a real rhyme or reason for why their powers worked the way they did. Not to mention they were prone to discovering new quirks even later in life. But thank you for the vote of confidence. I'd love to learn some from you. Just let me know when and where. At some point her tone had become slightly flirtatious. She should have been more bothered because of it, but Liam was still apparently mad atherand it didn't seem like they were fixing things any time soon. Maybe spending some time with a cute, intelligent guy would do her some good.

Nodding his head, Rich understood the importance of control. Emotions were a powerful thing so he could see them having effects of abilities. He was always trained to not loose his demeanor or become obviously aggressive. Granted he would get into fights but he always had a business mind on him, unless he was drinking. Alcohol really did inhibit certain filters. "It would be my pleasure. I have been lucky to meet such a beautiful and intelligent woman right from the start. It gives me good hopes for this school" He noticed her tone change and matched her flirtatious one. He wasn't going to go any further with it though. Mainly because he didn't really know her and also because he was going to focus on his sister before getting back into the dating scene, or at least before getting back into the sampling.  He was quite the playboy but was figuring that wasn't the best way to make a good first impression.

Well... Before she could go much farther, a text on her phone lit up. Liam was looking for her and Rae wanted to chat. Time to head out, it looked like. Sorry about that Rich. I guess I'll see you around some time? My sister needs me right now... Even though Rae was in Vegas and things were still rocky between her and Liam some times, she had to remember that they were going to get better. He was her always, after all. Bye! and good luck with Raven. Shoot me an IM later! With that she packed up her stuff and hurried out of the building, pleasantly surprised by the day's events.
