He hadn't been in the town long but Rich was already start to like the place. It was small and quiet. He could always find a place to work and could still travel when needed. He had yet contacted his Sister and finished an interesting chart with her roommate. Everyone seemed so well connected here. Though he wasn't surprised considering how small the place was. He was still wrapping his head around the whole powers thing. He figured he could have gone his whole life without knowing about the negation powers if he never had some confrontation like the one at the party.But such was life and with these recent changes it had given him the perfect opportunity to make amends with his sister and he was going to make the most of his education at Ashford. Right then he was just sitting in a coffee shop enjoying a cup of hot coffee and comparing stock to figure out what to tell the company. He was good with numbers and had a knack for telling which company to invest in and which stocks to sell. That and his personal knowledge of the different company owners helped a great deal. Other than that he would look out the window watching people pass by to see if he spotted someone he knew.

Becca had been rushing around attempting to finish some errands before heading back to the dorms. Her classes had gotten intense, not to mention her personal life, in recent weeks. The whole thing with Gemini had made things awkward all the way around and she still hadn't spoken to him now that they were home. It was awkward to say the least, especially when his best friend lived right down the hall.

Still she couldn't quite begrudge herself some hot chocolate before she left. Her laptop was in the car with her Algebra book anyways, so she might as well stop and knock out a lesson or two. Thank goodness Ashford's math program had an online option for the hopeless ones like her. Once her order was finished, hot chocolate and a blueberry muffin, she found the last open table by the window and set up her stuff. The person across from her was unfamiliar, so she shot him a welcoming smile like she did all the tourists and then opened up her college algebra book to start the next lesson.

He looked up to see a lovely blond sit across from him setting up what looked like school work. He returned the smile with a charming half one of his own. He looked back at the computer to finish his report before looking back at the blond. He noticed the subject of the book and figured he could make some conversation. He was very social and was always in the mood for a chat. "Interesting read?" He asked looking up from his computer. "Sorry, couldn't help but noticed the subject of your book. I quite love math myself" He explained. It was his favorite subject, most practical in his line of work. "Name's Richard, Rich for short" He nodded towards her knowing that a handshake across the table would be odd. He took a sip of his coffee as he waited to see if she was up for a pleasant conversation. He needed one.

Becca Ashland. New to town or just passing through? Sorry, I'm a lifetime resident so I tend to know anyone and everyone. Becca replied, returning his nod with one of her own. A gentleman in this town was hard to come by, so why not have a polite conversation with him. Shaking her head gently at the mention of math, she closed the book in exasperation. Its my worst class, but it's online so I can work ahead. Since midterms are coming up I wanted to do three or four weeks worth. It gives me time to study for things like power management or history. realizing her slip about powers, Becca gasped and reached for her phone in her pocket. If the guy wasn't a student or an SPB, she wanted to be able to call the emergency number in case he started asking questions.

"Well Becca, it is a pleasure making your acquaintance" Rich had a knack for being charming. With his job and position he needed to have excellent communication skills. Also he was in the presence of a beautiful blond by the name of Becca. "Ah a local. Just moved here myself. Transferred to the University" Rich was only taking classes till he had full control of his abilities then it was back to the online school and traveling. That is unless there was something in this town that would make him want to stay. "Power management. So I gather you are also a SPB. Still wrapping my head around it all to be honest" It was a good deal to wrap his head around. He did find it all interesting and it did mean he had a chance to mend some past mistakes. He glanced back out the window before giving Becca his full attention. He didn't think he was going to see anyone he knew. And there was only one person he was certain was here, he just had to find her.

Calloway born and raised. I moved up to the school when high school came, so yea. I'm one of them. The rest of the small shop was filled with people she knew, so she wasn't worried about saying anything now that he had been identified as a non-threat. The university isn't bad though. I almost wish I could go somewhere else but...even though I've been here all my life I still don't feel in control enough to not hurt someone. Almost out of reflex, she looked to the small vase of flowers on the table and flicked her wrist slightly. The water never technically left the vase, but it moved enough to show what she was talking about. Kinetics of any kind were generally harder to train and even worse to control.

Being an SPB was something she had never had to question. Becca's entire family, or adopted family it appeared, had powers and so had her biological father's. That's why both twins had powers and fairly strong ones at that. It was amazing to her that Rae had so much control already. They'll become a part of you some day. A wild, sometimes unpredictable part, but still. It's not as bad as it sounds.

It was interesting meeting someone who had lived in such a small town for their entire life. He had traveled so much he didn't know what it was like to just stay in one place. The only time he was in one place for a while was at boarding school and even then he didn't really go home often. It was always some trip or another. But he did enjoy the life.  He watched her move the water and was impressed. He hadn't seen too many use their abilities so it was still quite interesting when he had the chance to witness something like that being done. "Wow that was quite impressive. Hydrokinetic's if I'm not mistaken" He had done some reading on types of abilities before arriving. When she mentioned the powers being wild and unpredictable he couldn't help but grin. "I don't believe I will have to worry about my ability being wild" What really threw him off was that he had the ability ready to use for eight years before he ever needed it. He couldn't imagine what it was like to wake up one day and fire was forming from your hand or water moved at will, even passing through a wall. Having to get up and change your very lifestyle because normal people didn't accept you it was quite something.

Just wait until the quirks set in. The initial power isn't bad. But like me, it messes with my everyday life. Polluted water or bottled water with too many chemicals in it can make me sick. Tap water tends to be fine, but it gets annoying after a little while. luckily Ashford's tended to be aware of things like that and tried to keep things clean. It wasn't just her and the few other hydrokins that could be effected. Anyone with water related powers or absorption could have an issue when it came to poisons.

For someone so new, he seemed really confident that there wouldn't be a slip up. Maybe he had one of the powers that didn't really do anything. Like wall crawling or something along those lines. Alright,my out know mine, so what's yours? You don't have to show me. She smiled, moving the laptop slightly to the side so that she wasn't being rude.

He listened, quite intrigued by the infrmation. He knew that all abilities had limits just like anything. It was something to hear that man made impurities in water cause problems with the user. He made a mental note of the information. Rich closed his computer so his attention was on Becca. "Well showing you would be a little difficult. I have Power Negation" It really was one of those abilities that he could go years and not ever use it. But even so he still wanted to have control of the power. That and he needed some time at Ashford. "It is one of those powers that if you are not around other SPB's you never know of it. Just discovered it recently to be honest" He still remembered the fight he had at the club. He did wonder how different it would have been if he have powers.

The idea of someone being able to take away her powers made Becca shudder. It made sense though that he wouldn't have caught on to it until now though. So I take it you're first generation? If you didn't know then that would make sense. A lot of the locals have been here forever and have basically pure power bloodlines, so most of us know when we're little that powers are a possibility. taking a sip of her hot chocolate, Becca looked the guy over. Something about him seemed familiar, but it was probably just a coincidence. The only problem with something like power negation is if the person you are negating needs to use their powers. Like a vita kinetic or a healer. Those are pretty rare though.

First generation? He didn't think he was the first in his family to have abilities since his sister also had a power. He always wondered if his father also had some ability. The more he thought about it the more he believed it to be so. Just no one said anything. "Well to be honest I never knew about abilities till I learned of mine. But I am not the only one in the family to have a power. My sister goes to school here, just never knew what the school was about" He explained. Rich was tempted to contact his father and ask him about it. When he said he was going to Ashford for the rest of his schooling there was no objection. That in itself was strange. "I guess it helps that I can control when I use it. Turn it on and off. It also works better in contact with the other person though" He explained. Rich would never try to stop another's ability unless he had to. Like a fight or they were out of control. It was nice being a neutral party and he planed on keeping it that way.

You should take fear and stress training to see how your powers react. Professor Kale is crazy and scary, but it tells you a lot about how your powers work when you need them most. For example, I can't keep water in a solid state if I'm stressed. I can still move it, but if I'm scared...there's definitely no standing on it for sure. Kale's training was what she needed more than anything. Sure she generally stuck to more practical applications of her power, but some times you just needed to walk across that river and you weren't always going to be calm when you did it. Throwing water bottles at people was important too, you know?

The mention of a sister made her smile. Of course, she must have met the girl at some point. That's why Rich looked so familiar. Who is your sister? Maybe I know her. It is a small place, after all. Thinking about it for a second, she realized that they guy kinda looked like Raven, but she couldn't be sure. She didn't hang out with her that much because of Dani and, by proxy, Gem. It was a vicious cycle, but who knows.

"Thanks for the advice. It sounds interesting" Fear training did sound like a good class to try out. Scary teachers didn't bother him. He had met a wide range of people for school and work. The fear part did throw him through a loop. What did he fear? It was a part of him that he never explored and figured it would be good to learn. He was used to getting things done under stress and pressure so that part wouldn't be too much trouble, at least he hoped not.  When asked about his sister he did perk up a little. "She goes by Raven" It would be great if Becca had some information about Sil. He did realize how sad it was that he didn't know much about her. All he could give was a name. He didn't know her powers or what grade she was in. He could guess but he really didn't know and planed to change it.

Becca almost sighed when he confirmed her suspicions. Of course this nice guy would end up involved with that crew. Yea,I'm know of her. Ravenna Gaunt? Black hair, blue eyes, really shy? There weren't that many people running around named Raven anyways, so there wasn't much mistaking who he was talking about. Raven was supposedly a sweet kid. Maybe if it wasn't for her roommate.... Its a good thing you're here then. She's fallen in with a pretty rough crowd. Even if Becca had some love for Dani still and didn't necessarily run around ragging on her all the time, Rich still deserved to know. Her roommate is a convicted criminal, assault with a deadly weapon and Dani's boyfriend has slept with almost every girl on campus. Not to mention the rest of the riff raff in and out of that room. It's shocking that she isn't in as much trouble as they are. Or maybe she is and we just don't hear about it. Poor Raven. Maybe an adult voice of reason would save her sanity and get her transferred to a better room.

"That's her" The description was right and he didn't know anyone with the name Ravenna. He wasn't shocked that she was a shy one. Considering how she was treated by their mother it was expected. She didn't have much dealings with social settings. The rest of what Becca said was a bit of a shock. The wrong crowd? That did not sound like Raven. But what did he know. He always had this image of a timid quite child who would do anything to not be yelled at. Maybe gaining powers did change people. Her roommate. Wasn't that who he talked to not too long ago. He nodded his head and hand to stop from clenching his fist too hard. He wasn't going to let his sister fall with the wrong crowd. "Well that is something I am going to have to look into. I can't have her getting into trouble because of a couple of delinquents. Thank you for letting me know. I haven't really been in contact with my sister in a few years" He hoped she would listen to reason. He was also going to see if there were two sides to the story but so far he wasn't liking this group that she was hanging with.
