Xan can sense and manipulate temperatures around him. He can feel in a sense heat and coll temps from people and objects allowing him to almost see his surroundings. This is just natural and doesn't shut off. If there are too many of the same temperatures around him he can't always differentiate between the objects.
Manipulating temperatures takes focus and he can hold a temp for up to three hours as long as it doesn't exceed -20F point or 300F. Anything past that the length he can keep it up differs. He doesn't have to be in physical contact with what ever he is working with but does have to be withing three feet of it. He can heat up a 10ft radius of water as long as he is in the water. It seems that if he is in contact with water he can make the heat or cool temps travel further. If he is not concentrating it doesn't work and there is the chance of getting too hold or cold that it will burn or freeze him only when the temp is at a more extreme. Also it is stronger if he is in physical contact with the object.

When you were blind and loved to cook there were many chances for injuries. Because of this he had been to the clinic many times. Every time he would call his folks and get some sort of lecture about being careful but then they would just laugh about it and expect to hear about another one in a couple of weeks. He walked into the clinic and greeted the receptionist with a smiled. He was known very well in this place.
Xan took a seat and waited his turn for the doctor. He held a compress against his arm that had a decent cut across his forearm. Mishap with a knife again. It hurt but he was keeping the compress cold to numb the wound. These times his ability really came in handy. The compress, or rag was stained with blood but it wasn't too bad. He just had to get it checked out because he couldn't see. Otherwise he was very happy just sitting there waiting for the doctor.

Nathan had been out on a house call for one of his elderly patients when the nurse alerted him to Xander's presence in the clinic. Even though the place had only been open for a month, he had seen Xander enough to be on a first name basis with the young thermokinetic. It was too bad that his powers couldn't fix the boy's eyesight so that he could do the things he loved without hurting himself, but no one had that much power as far as he knew. Five minutes after the initial call, Narhan pulled in to the parking lot and threw his truck in to park. It seemed Xander was the only one here at the moment, so he'd be able to get straight to it. Tossing his keys in to the bowl on the front counter, Nathan took off his jacket and addressed the boy. Afternoon Xander. What were we cooking this time? since it looked like a standard healing job, Nathan wasn't too worried about charts, graphs, and the usual paperwork. A few minutes and things should be good as new. He liked this clinic. Sure it had only been open for about a month but the people were more likable, well more personal in his opinion. Most of the doctors he saw would get tiered of him coming in with random cuts and burns. They would always tell him to stop with the cooking or attempting to do things like a normal person. He hated that. Here though it was nice because the doctor and nurses here didn't discourage him in any way.
He head the doctor enter and grinned when asked what he was cooking up. "Hey Dr. Kotney" He said as Nathan walked in "Catfish. I had bought this large whole Catfish and was attempting to filet it. But while keeping it cool my arm became the same temperature so I could't tell where it was" Xan shrugged his shoulders, more excited about the dish than he was worried about his arm. He stood up still holding the compress. "I'll have to bring some by when it is finished" He offered. He liked to share his creations and it also showed his gratefulness for the doctor.

Nathan shook his head and chuckled, reaching for the file on the desk even though he didn't need it. Things like that were more for appearances when random tourists showed up in town. It rarely happened but he liked to be prepared just in case. Alright, let's get you in the back and see what the damage is. Obviously a cut this time, from the looks of your poor rag. opening the door, Nathan waited for Xander to walk through the door on his own. The boy was independent and he respected that. When you get older, Xander and you get these accidents down to a minimum, you should consider opening a restaurant. I would fund that thing, your creations turn out well. he could too, once Xander was old enough. Perks of a high paying job and a well established family.

Xan walked through the door, easily able to navigate with someone else standing there. The difference in temperature was more obvious when he could pinpoint body heat. "As soon as I get my degree that is the first thing I am going to do" Xander replied. That was his dream, and he was going to get stick with that dream no matter what happened. "I'll let you know. Could use all the help I can get" His family wasn't rich and he knew it was expensive to open a restaurant.
"How have you been Doctor" Xan asked, being the always charming gentlemen that he was. He didn't mind having conversations with adults. He like talking with his own parents so he was used to such conversations. He was a very social person and just pleasantly cool with life.

Nathan chuckled as he lead the way to the exam room. Of course Xander had already decided to open a restaurant. It didn't surprise him one bit. I'm well as usual. Finally finished unpacking now that Mrs. Jones has decided she ISN'T dying. I'm going to have to take away her house call privileges, I tell you. It seemed like every time he went to see another patient, the elderly woman called to tell him her something or other was aching and it was finally time. It was the fun part of being a doctor in a small town, getting to actually KNOW your patients. How are classes going? Anything interesting coming up?

Xan laughed when he talked about a Mrs. Jones. He knew some older people were like that especially when they lived alone. It reminded him of his grandmother. She used to always say the oddest things. He did miss his family but no one else had abilities. He always wondered where he got them from. He knew it had to do with genetics so maybe he was one of those first generation types. "You might have to" Xan joked.
"School is school to be honest really. At least Ashford is more accommodating than most schools so it isn't as much of a struggle" That was the good thing about it. He was a good student when give the right tools to get his work done. "I guess the only thing interesting coming up is the Fall Formal" He wasn't sure if he was going to the dance. Maybe if he found a date then he would go. Blind and dancing didn't always mix.

I could see where they would have to be. Being completely honest, I'm surprised the school keeps up with all the accommodations that they have to. Looking over Xander's chart, he made sure that there weren't any other check ups he needed. People with special needs were in and out more often, so he tried to keep up with it. Last week, I had a chlorokinetic in here with water poisoning because he went swimming for too long. The week before that, a pyrokinetic with frost bite from getting ice spilled on her hand. You couldn't pay me enough to be the nurse if I'm just seeing the odds and end cases.
As Xander talked about school, Nathan rolled up his sleeves and scrubbed his hands. When they were clean and dry, he walked over to sit on a stool beside the bed Im starting. He warned, aware that Xander couldn't see his approaching hands other than through the thermal heat radiating off his body. Startling the boy was still something he didn't want to happen. His power activated as he touched the open wound, the flesh knitting back together seamlessly underneath it. They had a few minutes until the job was done, but it was a good start and the bleeding would be over soon. Going stag or have you asked someone?

"I don't know how they do it but I am defiantly impressed" Xan was grateful that the school was so helpful. It made him feel more at home. His parents and grandmother were always helping out and he never felt left out or alone because of the being blind thing. He knew what it was like getting hurt because of a mishap with ones abilities. He had burned himself multiple times. He has to pay attention to the temperatures of himself in relation to what he was working with.
"Haven't asked anyone yet. But there is still time. That is the nice thing about Ashford, no matter how long you are here for you are always meeting someone new" It was very true. He was always running into new people. Sure he ran into people he knew or heard of but it was nice meeting new people.

Nathan contemplated Xander's options while his power continued to work. He was almost done and the skin was starting to pull back together nicely. As usual, it wouldn't even scar. You better get on it. I hear the dance is coming fast and someone needs to make you show off the moves. when the skin had completely reformed, Nathan pulled away to clean and disinfect the area. Of course he knew there wasn't an infection that could set in at this point, but there was too much blood on Xander's arm for him to just leave it. Good as new. you might consider seeing if you can find someone to make you a specialty knife of board to help you out a bit.

It did fell weird feeling his skin stitch back together but at least the wound was healed and not hurting. That was all that mattered he still had a fish to finish cooking. "Yeah I will. Wouldn't want to miss the formal" He grinned. He figured it would be fun going even if he didn't have a date but he never went to the formal alone. Always had a date on his arm and he wasn't about to change that. But he was picky in a sense on who he took, he was a gentlemen after all and wasn't going to take someone just to have a date. "I should look into that or wear armor to prevent cuts like this" He laughed. Yeah wearing armor to cook, now that would be something to behold.
