Well, it seemed like it was beyond time to get the first session on his roster for the day started. Stepping out in to the hallway with a clipboard resting against his hook, he scanned the area before calling out the name in question. "Gaunt, Ravenna. Training room thirteen." Without another word, he returned to his room and sat down in a chair, another one facing it a few steps away. "Take a seat. This week we'll be having a brief discussion on your previously completed assignments and then we'll start you off on the lowest setting to see what you can take." Leaning back, he waited for the student to settle down before continuing. No use in rushing the process and ruining the ambiance in his room.

Nervous did not full describe how she was feeling as she walked into the number thirteen training room. Raven was going through a whole slue of emotions and a nagging voice in the back of her head just kept saying turn around. She really didn't have to go though with this type of training. Well certainly didn't want it but she knew deep down she needed it. Fear and stress training was necessary to full control an ability even one as simple as talking to animals.  However, for Raven this wasn't exactly power training as much as it was a mental training. She had dealt with severe Anxiety before she came to the school and wanted nothing more than to fully confront those feelings so she would feel strong. She wanted to fell useful and if she was prone to random attacks then how useful was she?

Raven decided to take this class to better herself and nothing was going to make her back down. Not even a scary looking teacher with a hook hand sitting in the room was going to make her change her mind. Raven took a seat in the available chair, placing her bag next to her. This was it, there was no turning back now. But she wasn't really afraid of the teacher, no matter how scary he looked. She smiled her usual warm, kind smile. "Hello Mr. Kale" She was polite as always, just a hint eager to get started, despite all of her mixed emotions.

Adjusting his clipboard, Asher found Ravenna's assignment from earlier that week. A fear of being alone. It was an unfortunately common one at a place like this where so many people had abandoned their young and it manifested in so many different ways. "Based off of your essay I have determined that your training will be slightly unique. Eventually we will have to venture either outside of campus or acquire an animal for you to practice with." That wouldn't be excessively difficult, but annoying nonetheless. That wasn't for a few more sessions though. First, he had to make sure this training wasn't going to completely break a fragile looking girl like Ravenna.

"I'll warn you now and only now that the way you experience fear will vary, some times with every session. This time I'll go easy, use the lowest setting, but it'll still be taxing. You might see visions or just have an overwhelming sense of dread. Some people pass out. If you would like to lie down or secure yourself to the chair, do so now." Asher had acquired the straps to prevent things from going too haywire, but they were completely voluntary. Even a guy like him had his limits. These kids could all go jump off a cliff as far as he was concerned, but he refused to be a full fledged monster.

Raven listened closely. She had her necklace and the more she focused on that she better she felt. Just wearing it kept her anxiety at bay. She knew this was going to be a difficult task but she was willing do do anything to get stronger. "I do have a couple pets that we could work with" Raven suggested. She figured bringing in other animals would be hard. She had three on hand if need be and she knew if she asked her snake, he would be willing to train with her no matter what that training had in store. 


She listened to his warnings but she wasn't going to move. She had felt dread, she lived her fear for most of her life. Sure this was going to be worse than that but she figured at the smallest setting she would be able to handle it, hopefully without much complications. "I'm alright here. Let's get started" Raven took a deep breath and folded her hands on her lap so the would stop shaking. This was it, there was no turning back. She just had to trust herself and Kale.

Taking a deep breath, Asher didn't respond to either of her statements. Instead he reached out to touch two fingers to her temple and let the fear he had been collecting from the other students flow in to her. He wouldn't know how it manifested until after, but then he would at least have a better idea of what to expect in the future.

Some students experienced visions, others heard voices. Then there were the ones that simply felt it. The encompassing sensation of whatever they feared most: snakes slithering across their skin, spiders creeping up their backs, and even darkness. So much darkness. The void was a fascinating thing to a man like Asher.

Once the process was complete and the initial dose was in place, Asher pictured the fear she had described in his mind and then let the details flow through the established connection. It wasn't a necessary step, nor was the physical contact, but it allowed him more control to ensure things didn't go too far. The word alone echoed through his mind once, and then he let go to watch the student experience her little taste of terror.

It didn't take long for the nerves to fade as she felt slight pressure on her temple. Raven closed her eyes as her mind went blank and the feeling of dread rushed in. It was a feeling she was used to. A feeling that she woke up to and spent many sleepless nights dealing with alone. Always alone. She started to tremble slightly, her heartbeat became more rapid and it was getting harder to breath. She felt like her chest was tightening and causing a shortness of breath. It was an anxiety attack. The anxiety kicked into full gear as the fear engulfed her. It wasn't even a lot but it was enough that she couldn't control her anxiety. Her eyes snapped open and she stared at Kale with watery eyes but she wasn't seeing him. For her there was nothing.

Being afraid of being alone wasn't just not having someone around it was the sense of not being wanted. She knew there was someone else in the room by her mind blocked all of that out and she was just sitting in emptiness as the sense of dread increased. Unwanted, hated, alone. Tears started to fall down her face. She stoop up abruptly shaking her head violently to get the thoughts out of her mind. She clutched the necklace around her neck to try to calm down form the anxiety attack. She still wasn't seeing, really seeing. "Stop" her voice was just a whisper, horse and she struggled to get it out with her struggle breaths. It wasn't exactly towards Kale but just in general.

He didn't say a word while the girl struggled. Instead he sat there and observed, clipboard and a pen in hand. Asher wasn't sure exactly what she was seeing, or if she was seeing at all, but from the looks of it even his powers on low had been enough to cause her some form of trauma. This would either be the best or worst class she could have taken.

When he finally decided she had had enough for the day, Asher walked over to a cooler filled with bottles of water, juice, and milk to grab one for the girl. Some kids had blood sugar issues afterwards and he was required to keep certain supplies on hand to keep them from having medical emergencies...which occasionally happened anyways, but that was to be expected. Walking over to where she was still walking, he grabbed her by the arms and sat her down in her chair again before the kid could hurt herself.

"I don't decide when it stops, you do. I let you go whenever I stopped touching your temple, Miss Gaunt. All of this, that's all you now." Pressing the water in to her palm, he moved back to his chair to see how long it would take her to get back on track by herself.

She was brought back to reality when the cup of water was pressed into her hands and she was ushered back to her seat. It took a moment for her breathing to even out but she was calming down fairly quickly. She hadn't expected to have an anxiety attack so quickly and with so little. It wasn't the best of signs to the girl. Could she last in this class? She never quit or dropped out of a class before but she wondered if that is what she needed to do now. She didn't want to deal with the anxiety. No, that is exactly why she was here. She wanted to face it, all of it. To become stronger.

Raven looked at Asher with determined eyes. "I'm alright. Can we try that again?" She asked. She hadn't quite stopped shaking but she had it under control somewhat. She wasn't going to give up and this was the one class that she wanted to be in more that anything. She needed to confront her fear and her anxiety. This was the best way she could do that.

The girl was brave, he had to give her that. Most grown men didn't last more than one round against the things they feared most, but here she was asking for round two. Maybe she'd be able to tough it out after all. "Take a minute to catch your breath and then we'll try it again. But no more after this. Permanent damage is not the official goal of this class."

Asher stood to pace around the room until he decided that she had settled enough. The administration would have his head if they found out, but who really cared about those old geezers. Their ways were outdated. His got results.

One of these days he was going to invest in a better chair, but today was not that day apparently. It's cool metal back was almost unbearable when he sat down in it again. The process was the same as last time, if not slightly dulled because of Raven's previously intense reactions.

She was quite happy when he agreed to let her try again. Raven was grateful for the pause though. It gave her time to fully calm down, drink the water and prepare herself for the next round. Sure she was being crazy for trying again. She didn't really want to go though facing her fear but at the same time she did. Her emotions were so conflicted at the moment. Raven took a deep breath, she needed to go through with it, this will determine if she was strong enough to keep going to the class.

Asher took a seat and they begin again. She made sure this time to focus on her breathing, keep it even. The fear rushed back in but this time she wasn't going to let her anxiety take over as well. All she could see was the complete darkness. But is wasn't normal darkness, it was just nothing, void of everything. In her head she could hear echos of her mothers disappointed voice spouting the same poison she listened to all her life. It is what created her fear in the first place so it was fitting that it was how she would experience her fear. She wanted to pull away, her breathing was getting uneven again and she was loosing control. Tears started to form in her tightly shut eyes. She instinctively went to grip onto something. The closest thing she could reach was her teachers arm. She gripped tightly but didn't make him pull away. It was more of a way for her to say in control. Her breathing was still uneven but she was sticking with it this time even if she felt like giving up and curling in a ball on the floor and just cry, just cry till the darkness went away.

Before he could remove his hand to let the process finish itself out, Ravenna grabbed his arm out of some sort of reflex, pinning it there. Normally this wouldn't have concerned Asher, because his powers weren't necessarily contact based. However, this time was different. Ravenna was feeding so much fear back out in to the atmosphere that it was creating an overload of sorts, preventing him from letting go as long as he was still touching her. "Miss Gaunt, that's enough. The session is over." He growled, attempting to pry her hand off of his shirt, hoping that his words would snap her out of it.

His words seemed distant but she could still hear them. The sound seemed to pierce through the void in her mind. Let go. She released her grip and opened her eyes looking down as she clasped her hands back in her lap. "Sorry. I didn't mean to..." Raven was embarrassed by her actions. Granted they were non voluntary but that didn't make the situation any better. At least for Raven it didn't.

"So what next" She asked trying to change the subject and help her calm down from the session. She had never been so afraid in her life but she was glad she lasted this time. She didn't have an attack the second time around which was good.
