The ability to summon weapons allows Danielle to take any weapon within her line of sight, barring complications such as super strength or another more powerful telumkinetic. She is limited to only two weapons at a time, though she only usually takes one unless she's going for a bow and arrows. They always land safely in her palm with no chances of impalement, even if she turns around or moves her hand. The only way for this to injure another person is if they step in to the path of an incoming weapon before it switches directions. Her definition of the word weapon can be pretty broad, as she can summon anything that she has the intent to use as a weapon or that she has seen used as a weapon before, such as a belt.

Be careful making wishes in the dark, dark Can't be sure when they've hit their mark
Even though she had already been through one formal training session that day, dani was still keyed up and ready for some action. At the moment she was standing in an unoccupied room, working on throwing weapons around instead of just drawing them in. It was more tedious work than she was used to, but it was exercising her power nonetheless.
Trainer Kale had suggested a real weapon instead of just her belt, like maybe it would help her focus or something. It was worth a shot enough for her to grab one of the smaller throwing knives from the training room and bring it back to this one. It wasn't as weapon proof as the others, but the small thing she had probably couldn't hurt anyone unless she actually tried.
Most people thought she just looked at a weapon and it flew straight to her, but that wasn't necessarily the case. It was more like the weapons had a string attached to it, all of them connected to her wrist at the same time. The closer they were, the easier she could find the string and retract it. That same mechanism was what made pushing a weapon away difficult or nearly impossible. The string wasn't substantial enough for her to lean on it heavily and it took most of her range worth of string to push things more than a few inches. It was like just piling things up against the knife instead of moving it.
After the third or fourth failed attempt, Dani was ready to give up for the day. It had only moved once, and even that wasn't spectacular. Leaning heavily against the wall, Dani took a long drink out of a water battle and stared at the offending instrument. This was hopeless.
And besides in the mean, mean time I'm just dreaming of tearing you apart

| The sound of steel striking flint reverberated through the training hall. It echoed in the empty room and was followed by a deep, overly audible sigh "Well now, that was certainly an interesting display." The intruder said, leaning against the door frame, a lit cigarette perched between his lips. From beneath the shaggy mane that obscured the lower half of his face one could see that the corners of his mouth were quirked up ever so slightly in a playful grin. He took another drag of his cigarette causing the tip to glow bright red, heedless of the fact of his location. "I thought that power training was all done for the day."
Salem had been present for Dani's display of power, or lack thereof, since she'd entered the room. The training halls of Ashford had proven to be the ideal place for him to go and sneak a quick smoke when he wasn't in the mood to go outside. The stench of sweat and the plethora of strange smells that students created with their abilities usually hid the smell of smoke and if not Salem was always able to pass the stench off as his own ability. Most days he went undisturbed, but every so often someone would tread upon his secret domain.
More often than not it was a group of students just looking for a place to goof off, but once in a blue moon someone would actually use training rooms for their intended purpose. Seeing a lone girl waltzing through the halls from one room to the other with a dagger in hand had piqued Salem's curiosity and he couldn't help but give in to it's demands. He'd watched passively for several moments, it was only when he saw the weapon shudder and lurch towards her that he was able to figure out her goal.
Salem remained against his perch as he flicked the cinders off of the cigarette. They fell slowly to the floor only to be joined by more gray ash slithering from the young man's body. The ashen particles trailed along the floor of the training hall, imitating the motions of a snake, making a straight line for the dagger. The serpentine construct wound its way around the weapon before lifting up into the air and changing into a small orb around the dagger's hilt. It hung in the air for only a moment before flying across the room and into Salem's outstretched hand.
Showing off likely wasn't the best way to begin a conversation with a complete stranger, but Salem hadn't been able to resist. He remembered when he'd first developed his powers and had spent hours trying to perform the simplest of actions. If he'd seen someone effortlessly complete the task he'd been hellbent on doing he would have probably tried twice as hard. "So what are you? Some kind of metal bender or something?" he asked casually, looking over the dagger with an appraising eye. It was a dainty thing, not much use in a real fight, but it was a practical choice for training. He ran a thumb over the dulled edge before looking back towards the dark haired girl. notes; excuse me as I get into character words; 530ish outfit;i'll make one eventually |

Be careful making wishes in the dark, dark Can't be sure when they've hit their mark
Dani wasn't as shocked as she was annoyed at the sound of an intruder in the training room. If she had been throwing knives or showing off, that would have been one thing, but she wasn't. The whole concept behind moving the weapon in the opposite direction was as stupid as it was hopeless. She could throw it just fine, it didn't need to be able to slide across the floor like something out of a cheesy horror movie. "Training is never done, the instructors just go home at some point." She quipped, tempted to draw the knife to her from it's place on the floor.
A few seconds later she was glad that she didn't go through with it though as the stranger started working with his own powers to move the knife. Was that ash or what? For a second she thought it might be shadows, but umbrakinetics generally didn't get things that solid. His display of power would've been a lot more impressive if it wasn't exactly what her own did every day.
Not even dignifying his question of her power with a response, Dani searched for the invisible strings attached to the weapons in the room, the knife in particular drawing her attention. Real weapons always shined a little brighter than the mundane things that she had claimed as her own over the years. A split second later she latched on to the right one and tugged, the knife flying towards her point first at an alarming rate before turning at the last second and landing safely in her palm. "Telumkinetic actually. Weapons summoning, to be exact." Her tone was nonchalant as she looked the guy over for the first time. He looked like the ones she hung out with before she came to Calloway, back when things made sense and she wasn't stuck in the school for freaks. Not that she didn't love her power, she just hated being trapped there. "And you? What was that?" It smelled like smoke, and not just from his cigarette, so she assumed her guess about ashes earlier was probably right.

| Oh, so serious, Salem chuckled quietly to himself at the girl's words. Salem had encountered her sort before, he'd even been like her for a time. So obsessed with obtaining results and bettering himself that almost nothing else mattered. The problem with that manner of thinking was that once your training was done there wasn't anything particularly meaningful to devote those highly trained skills to. He responded with a shrug of his broad shoulders.
He began to open his mouth but was stunned into silence as one of the weapons soared towards the air with blinding speed before daintily landing in the young woman's hand. He raised a brow and looked towards the weapon he wielded in his own hand. It seemed the girl had a certain level of skill after all. "Can't say that I've ever heard of that particular ability. Sounds incredibly useful." he said as he twisted the knife in his hand, causing the blade to slip between his fingers. He rolled his wrist, twirling the dagger from finger to finger. "Didn't look like you were trying to summon any weapons though. If anything it looked like you were trying to do the complete opposite. Some sort of weapon repellent, which also sounds like a neat little trick. Someone comes at you with a weapon and you can blast it out of their hands. Want to throw a weapon harder than you normally could, just repel it."
Salem thought of the potential upsides of such an ability. It wasn't really anything he couldn't do himself without some creative use of his own ability and a lot more focus. "Hm," the knife halted, held between Salem's ring and middle finger as he was dragged from his analysis. "Oh, that was an equally obscure power that no one knows about. The technical term for it is Tephrakinesis. I think it's easier to just call it ash manipulation and its exactly what it sounds like." The ash that Salem had released earlier reconstituted itself on the ground before him forming into a small pyramid. "Don't know why they've got to over complicate things by giving them Latin names. Suppose to the right audience it sounds impressive. I think it sounds pretentious."
Salem inhaled sharply, releasing a plume of white smoke between the two of them. He took a moment to take a cursory glance of the girl. He'd seen her around campus and he was fairly certain that she was even in the same dorm as him. He rummaged through his mental inventory of names before arriving at her's. "You're Danielle, right? What are you doing killing all your time in here?" notes; excuse me as I get into character words; 440ish outfit;i'll make one eventually |

His analysis of what she had been doing wasn't far off point, but the application of it was still something she hadn't worked the kinks out of. "Repelling things sounds cool and all, but not with the way my particular brand works. Imagine tying a piece of yarn to that knife and then using twenty or thirty feet of it to push it across the floor." As an example, Dani threw the knife back to the ground and waited for it to stop moving. Her hand flew out and she concentrated all she had on it, but the weapon barely moved at all. "If you could see what I see, it's just bunching up on one side of it. In theory it's cool, in practice...not so much."
The question sounded a little more existential though. Why was she here in this room playing with sharp objects when she could be home with her brother? "The long and short of it boils down to this town being boring as hell. I got more action walking down the street back home than I do here in a year, but the school keeps threatening me with sending me to juvie if I get in trouble again." Granted, it hadn't been her fault and principal Ashford knew it, but that assault with a deadly weapon was still on her record whether she had actually done it or not. The old man had tried to do her a solid and it ended with her being labeled as a criminal for the wrong reason. That was life though, right?

| Salem listened passively to Dani's conundrum. Several ideas bubbled to the surface of his consciousness, but he kept his mouth shut. He had no reason to get himself involved in Dani's business. There was nothing to gain from it. Besides, it wasn't exactly in Salem's nature to be the dutiful senior student, willing to pass on his hard earned knowledge. Instead, he gave another off handed shrug, the cigarette between his lips dipping downwards. His curiosity sated Salem thought to leave the room and let Dani continue on with her training. He was just about to leave when she spoke, one word catching his attention and causing a wide smile to split his bearded visage.
He'd decided that there was no reason for him to help Dani out on the abilities front but with overcoming the daily boredom of Ashford? He was all for helping her with that, even if he didn't get anything out of it. "There's plenty to do in this town. You just have to know where to look." Salem pushed himself off of his perch, standing up at his full height for the first time since entering the room. "Unfortunately, it involves getting into a small bit of trouble here and there, but as long as the school doesn't find out there's no harm in it. Besides, juvie isn't so bad. I pulled a two year stint before I ended up in this place.
"Honestly, it's pretty similar. Minus all of the super powers." Salem gestured towards the knife that Dani had been trying to move with his own. "You get plenty of time to catch up on your reading, a lot of time to be introspective, most of the kid's are alright. I mean, you gotta show'em that you aren't afraid to get rough if the situation calls for it, but once you do that you're pretty much set. Plus, you get the opportunity to get yourself some quality tattoos." he said, rubbing the rose tattoo on his left hand. A souvenir from his time in one of Chicago's finest juvenile detention centers.
"My name's Salem, by the way." the boy tacked on the introduction haphazardly. He figured it would only be appropriate to exchange names, especially if he'd made the silent promise to help her find someways to enjoy Calloway and the surrounding area. "I'm pretty sure that we're bunked in the same dorm." notes; excuse me as I get into character words; 530ish outfit;i'll make one eventually |

Be careful making wishes in the dark, dark Can't be sure when they've hit their mark
Salem's idea of fun sounded like something right up her alley...if they had met four years ago. She had been right, he was EXACTLY the kind of person she would've run with back home. Here though...her friends weren't rule followers, but they weren't criminals either. Dani just couldn't see Gem doing something like vandalism or robbery. Now if there was enough alcohol involved, he could get a little rough and tumble, but that was about as bad as Gem got. If he was her worst influence now, could she still even run with a guy like Salem? "Dani, Dani Rockefellar. And yea, I'm pretty sure we're both in Page."
For a moment she had considered to tell him that her nickname was Angel instead of Dani, like her friends before Ashford had called her. In the most literal sense, her middle name meant 'weary angel' and for some reason they had kinda liked that. At Ashford though, she was just Dani. Angel was another person entirely, one that she did miss on occasion. "What fun do you have in mind, Salem? I'm not sure how well too much fun would go over in a town like this were 90% of the inhabitants are older, well trained SPBs." Her tone and posture were meant to show that she wasn't backing down from the idea, more that she was trying to figure out the best way to execute something like that without dying. That would be the ultimate buzz-kill.
