HOLD, HOLD ON TO ME cause i'm a little unsteady She'd never really been one to actually just sit down and practice her powers, but Alaska hadn't used them in a while and she was itching to get a bit of a release. Alaska was gifted with one of the funkier kinda of powers, in that it was hard for her to practice without going so far as physically hurting herself. Which usually didn't fly too well with most people, hence why Alaska did most of her practicing behind closed doors. That and a lot of people weren't huge fans of blood, which was kind of the main part of Alaska's personal training methods. Now she rarely ever trained, she got into enough trouble on a day to day basis, but when she did it sometimes got a tad messy, especially if she got really in to it. Today Alaska was just taking it easy and settled on practicing out in the open on the Zellner lawn. She wasn't really in the mood to hardcore practice and therefore would rather do it out in the open under the sun than in a stuffy old classroom. She'd grabbed a beach towel and a bottle of mountain dew from the mini fridge in her room before scooping up her backpack and leaving her empty dorm room behind. The lawn was relatively empty at the moment and Alaska was happy to see that. Normally she would be all for having some company but today she wanted to just relax for a while and maybe throw in some practice while she was at it without really being disturbed. She picked out a sunny spot close to a tree in case she wanted to move into the shade later on, and laid out the blue Aztec patterned towel she'd brought with her. Tossing her backpack onto the grass next to the towel, Alaska dropped down and riffled through the bag until her fingers clasped around the cool metal of the switchblade her father bought for her years ago. She tugged the blade from her backpack and laid back on her towel, her knees propped up in front of her pointing up towards the sky with her feet flat on the ground. With her blond hair splayed out in waves behind her and the shiny switchblade in her right hand, Alaska just simply drew the point of the blade over the tip of her left index finger. She'd long gotten used to the pain that accompanied the cuts and instead watched, mildly interested as the shallow cut she'd made healed up in seconds. It healed so fast that even gravity wasn't in control of the flow of blood, leaving Alaska's face, which should have at least gotten a drop of blood on it, completely unmarked. She spun the blade once in her hand before drawing another line across the back of her hand. The pattern of cuts and heals continued on a for a while as Alaska just watched her powers in action. She still wasn't used to it even though she'd been accelerated healing herself for almost three years now. Seeing it in action though still sent a rush of adrenaline through her body. There was a weird fascination Alaska held with her powers that she didn't let most people see in her. She felt like if people saw, they would make assumptions about her and she'd already had problems with her parents in the past when she used her powers in a much different way as an escape from dark periods of her life. There were still a few scars that never healed on her thighs from the months after Alaska's mother passed away and she couldn't handle the emotions running through her body. She couldn't help that using her power helped give her a sort of release from all the bottled up negative emotions. It was just a part of life for Alaska.

Gem had debated all morning on whether he should go to class or not on one hand if he did he might actually be able to get out of Ashford on the other hand he didn't feel like being stuck in class all day. The only class he enjoyed was training and his power wasn't really something it took a lot to master. It wasn't that Gem was dumb though most assumed so because he had good looks he really just didn't apply himself at all.

He grabbed his backpack he'd head through Zellner Lawn on the way to class he was always running into someone there if he went to class cool, if he didn't oh well. He grabbed his aviator sunglasses off his desk and headed out the door. On the way out he put a pair of headphones in his ears, tucking them under his shirt and plugging them into his phone. He pulled up his favorite pandora station which was a combination of 70's and 80's pop music. Hey at least no one would be the wiser with headphones in.

As he approached Zellner lawn he recognized a familiar blonde lying in the grass on a beach towel, her knees skyward. He walked over to her standing toe to toe with her. He saw the knife in her hand and quickly debated on maybe leaving her alone but took the I don't judge approach So.. Knives are cool.. He said with a smile

HOLD, HOLD ON TO ME cause i'm a little unsteady There probably wasn't a cloud in the sky judging by how heavy the sun was blazing down on Zellner lawn today. Alaska was happy to be wearing a simple crop top and shorts, anything else would have been overbearing. Though if she laid out here for too long, she was bound to get an awkward shorts tan line and tan lines like that weren't flattering on anyone. Humming softly to herself she tossed the blade up in the air once above her before lazily snagging it again when it fell back down towards her. She wasn't ever really scared of hurting herself with the blade, and even if she did miss and the blade hit her arm or something, she would heal up fairly quickly. Distracted by the sun and the happy vibes that were coursing through her body-courtesy of her healing power-Alaska didn't even notice someone else had stopped near her until a shadow fell over her face. She glanced up over the tops of her knees and caught sight of a familiar boy outlined by the sun. "Oh hey Gem," she said brightly, offering a smile as she squinted up at him. She probably wasn't giving Gem the most flattering angle of her face at the moment but she just mentally shrugged. Yeah she was a flirt sometimes but she was relaxing today. Something about using her powers a lot made her happy and sleepy. She considered tucking the blade back into her bag in case it kinda freaked Gem out but decided against it. He didn't seem like the kind of guy who would be uncomfortable around them. Instead she just spun the knife around in her hand and clicked the blade back into it's sheath before she scooted over on the towel and patted a small space next to her waist as an invitation for him to sit down if he wanted too.  "Decided to ditch class or are you on your way there now?" She asked, closing her eyes and just basking in the sunlight. She really hadn't felt like attending classes today so instead she of course just made her own class out on the lawn where everyone could obviously see her skipping. She didn't care, and Ashford didn't go out of their way to force you to class so no one was bound to say anything to her. She was just going to wait till Gem left later to bring her knife back out again but she caved and slid the blade back out again, tossing it back and forth from one hand to the other just above her stomach.

He dropped down next to her on the towel in a reclined position on his forearms. He reached up to pull his sunglasses down a bit so he could look over the top of them. He looked her up and down his eyes lingering on her legs. He was a sucker for a nice pair of legs what could he say? Well I thought about going to class, but then It seems I found something better to do.. He said flashing his ever so charming smile.
He watched her toss the blade back and forth and cocked an eyebrow What's with the knife? Are you planning on going to a rumble? Are you a shark or a jet? Did a Soc try to drown your fellow Greaser? He asked teasingly referencing both West Side Story and The Outsiders which he was ashamed to admit he had seen too many times.
He pushed his sunglasses back up his nose looking around the lawn, there were a few people here and there but most were probably in class. Ya’know like normal people.

HOLD, HOLD ON TO ME cause i'm a little unsteady Gem opted to take a seat next to Alaska on the lawn, reclining back on his forearms, which much to her surprise, made Alaska fairly happy. She was half expecting him to continue on to class granted she wasn't doing anything remotely exciting at the moment. She laughed at his comment, happy that she was out in the sun and getting attention from a cute boy instead of cooped up in a classroom, "Oh did you now? Well now that you're here what are you planning on doing?" She opened her eyes and glanced over at him, a small smile curling up just one corner of her mouth. She wasn't sure if anything would ever happen between her and Gem aside from some harmless flirting but it was a nice distraction from the bore of day to day life here. At his remark about her knife, Alaska slipped the blade back into it's holder and released it from her hand, letting it fall down onto her stomach. "Nah nothing exciting like that," she stated, picking the knife back up in her right hand but leaving it closed. "Just power training." She shifted and turned her body so that she was laying on her side next to him instead of on her back. "But The Outsiders was a very good movie," she laughed and tucked a piece of blonde hair that had fallen down over her face behind her ear. She studied Gem's face for a bit before dropping the knife on the towel next to her and falling back onto her back. Reaching her arms up over her head in a stretch, Alaska closed her eyes and sighed. "Sorry if I'm a little boring at the moment, my training methods tend to make me a little bit sleepy."

“Oh I don’t know, I figured I’d hang out with a pretty girl and we could do anything she wanted to do” He replied with a smirk. He watched her slip the knife back in the cover. Knives didn’t bother him as long it wasn’t being wielded by some girl who trying to kill him, which had surprisingly happened once or twice.
Power training, huh? So what do you do? He tried to recall what Alaska did but he really couldn’t remember. Normally powers weren’t on his of need to knows when talking to a girl, though he was thinking of changing that, at least at campus.

When she had rolled over to face him he had removed his sunglasses so that he could properly look at her. His own green eyes meeting her blue ones, he smiled when she tucked her hair back, noting how pretty her eyes were.

He was kind of disappointed when She dropped back on her back. Well I guess we need to wake you up then.

She returned his smirk with one of her own, thinking about just what other things they could be doing at the moment. Then again, Gem was a known flirt so who knows how many girls he'd already claimed across campus. Alaska mentally rolled her eyes at her train of thought. Who cared that Gem was a flirt, she was on occasion too so what did it matter anyway? He was just a way to pass the time and it was a hell of a lot nicer talking to someone than sitting around alone. "And to answer you're question, my oh so exciting power is healing. I get hurt and then I heal myself. That's where this," Alaska flipped up the knife in between two fingers and her thumb and wiggled it back and forth, "Comes in handy. See?" Not bothering to ask if Gem had any sort of aversion to blood, Alaska slid the blade out again and used the tip to draw a line across the back of her left hand. As usual, the shallow cut took mere seconds to heal up and Alaska retracted the blade and dropped it back down on the towel once more. "Pretty nifty but not very thrilling." She laughed softly, her blue eyes locked on the back of her hand where a cut had been a minute or so ago. Sometimes she wished her power worked another way, like being able to heal other people instead of heal herself, but then she wouldn't have the same freedom that she did today. Without her power, Alaska felt that she would be a little less of a wild child and a little more of a homebody. The fact that she was just a little bit invincible made her want to push the limits because she knew that she had her power to back her up. But most of the time that made her feel a little selfish. If her power worked on others, she'd be able to help people instead of just helping herself.  Gem's words broke her mental concentration and she turned up to look at him with a mischievous smile. "Mmm now I like the sound of that," she purred and rolled back on to her side to face him. "What did you have in mind..?" She asked, blinking up into his green eyes and just barely biting the bottom of her lip. Distractions sure were nice.

The blood from her cut didn’t faze him at all. Over the years of practicing his own he’d fallen more than a few times busting up his face or breaking a bone. Pretty cool. With a nod of his head as the cut quickly healed. I bet that comes in handy He thought about all the times healing himself could come in handy, crazy women trying to kill him, when he was intoxicated and decided that’d be the best time to practice back flips.
I get it though, mine are good for impressing but I never really use them for anything.. Maybe I should go class once in awhile He laughed . Maybe if he actually went class instead of hanging out on the lawn with girls, or swimming in yellow stone lake, he’d actually find a purpose for his power. Nawh

His eyes lit up when Alaska rolled back over to face him, he rolled on his side so he could directly face her. We could do a lot of things, we could blow off class and go to the lake, though from a recent experience I can tell you the water can be a bit cold.. Or .. He leaned in close to her We can do something else..

If he would have freaked or passed out from the sight of blood it would have kinda ruined the atmosphere they had going on. She grinned to herself and moved the knife into her bag behind her so it was out of the way. Just in time for Gemini to roll over to face her. He was by far one of the most attractive guys at Ashford that she'd seen so far and having him chilling with her on her beach towel was the epitome of a pretty great day for Alaska.  Gem leaned in closer to Alaska and she could feel a surge of adrenaline rush through her body. That adrenaline rush was one of the reasons why Alaska loved situations like this so much. She was a flirt for that reason, she enjoyed the feeling of flirting with someone new and not knowing what the outcome was going to be. The possibilities were still endless and uncharted for her. All too often in relationships people got too comfortable with each other and lost the spark that they had at the very beginning. Which is why Alaska stayed as far away as possible from deep relationships. She'd never found anyone who'd managed to keep her attention for more than a month at most so what was the point of getting into one relationship after another all for the sake of getting bored and breaking up weeks later? Nah, this was way more fun. "Huh, well since we're already skipping class, I was thinking more along the lines of this..." Alaska leaned in closer to Gem herself, but not close enough to make any contact. She was quite enjoying the game and wasn't planning on ending it so soon. "Unless of course you really want to go swimming...we could always go skinny dipping," she whispered over to him, her blue eyes locked in on his green ones.

Gem’s eyebrows shot up when Alaska suggested skinny dipping, staring down at her. It wasn’t often he ran into a girl who was so bold to make a suggestion, maybe Raelynn but that was about it. He was impressed. He bit his lip mulling the idea over in his head, as much as he would love to see everything Alaska was hiding under her clothes but, he remembered the chilly water the last time he and Dani had been there. There was something not very hot about standing there shivering in the water in front of a very hot girl. Though the weather was still decently warm right now.. Hm… Was it worth the risk? If he agreed and they got down there he wouldn’t be able to back out. If he did he was sure Alaska wouldn’t let him hear the end of it and she’d have every right to tease him relentlessly.

He brought his hand up so that the back of his fingers brushed against her cheek, still holding her gaze. I was think something warmer… He whispered a sly smile spreading across his face. Gem didn’t think he’d ever get over flirting like this, it was a wonderful adrenaline rush, the whole thing like a silent game of chicken, though he usually won it still painted the illusion of a challenge, and hey every now and then he actually met someone who challenged him. Of course, if you really want to swim I’ll go with you and just watch.
