I've Been Jumping From the Tops of Buildings For the Thrill of the Fall That morning Gem had woken up super early. After ten minutes of laying there not being able to go back to sleep he pulled himself out of bed. He debated on taking a long drive, it had been awhile since his rx-8 had been out on the road but he settled on the idea of heading down to Calloway Park instead despite the sun was just starting to come up.
He slipped on his black sweats and pulled on a black hoodie, he skipped the shirt knowing despite the crispness of the fall morning that he’d eventually get hot. He checked his hair in the mirror but left it a mess.He grabbed his backpack stuffing his ipod shuffle, wallet and a bottle of water in it. He locked up his dorm and headed out.
On his way to Calloway Park he stopped and got a coffee. When he arrived at Calloway Park he wasn’t surprised that no one was there. He took a deep breath enjoying the morning air. It had been awhile since he had done anything that solely focused on his powers.
He took a sip of his coffee before setting it down on one of the nearby park tables. He dropped his backpack on it as well digging out his Ipod shuffle. The shuffle was easier to manage with exercise than his phone and less expensive to replace. He wasn’t sure why but he was feeling especially broodish this morning and flipped through his usually up beat music to something a little darker and angrier.
He secured the shuffle in his pocket and ditched the hoodie with the rest of things. The cold air hit his skin and he shivered.
Getting started was always the hard part and he bounced in place for a minute. He took a deep breath before bending backwards into a back flip which he managed to do three times. He took off in a full run and easily used the trunk of a tree as another flipping point.
Gem knew some people might see their powers as a burden but he was in love with his. He loved how natural it was to know how to twist his body or how much leverage to use, how he never really had to fear falling not that it didn’t happen it was just a rare occurrence. He loved that he didn’t have to calculate each step in his head it was all as natural as walking but, most of all he liked that he didn’t have to think. Anyone who was watching might would notice the unnatural grace and ease he was able to move.
Before he knew it he was at the playground. Now that he was successfully warmed up he decided to take a break. With ease he lifted himself up and tucked his legs over the monkey bars and hung upside down. He scowled to himself as he saw his backpack sitting on the picnic table. He should have made sure it was closer.

ANY LONGER AND IT CAUSES MASSIVE HEADACHES, NOSE BLEEDS AND IN SOME CASES SHE WILL PASS OUT BUT THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN TILL THE TWO HOUR MARK. THE SIMPLER THE COMMAND THE EASIER IT IS TO CONTROL THE ANIMALS. RAVEN PREFERS TO JUST ASK THE ANIMAL IF THEY ARE WILLING TO DO SOMETHING RATHER THAN CONTROL THEM. Somebody shine a light i'm frozen by the fear in me
It was early and Raven couldn't get back to sleep. This happened every now and then when she would have a hard time sleeping. She decided that the best thing to do was to get some fresh air. She decided to go ahead and get herself ready for the school day and take it from there. Grabbing a jacket and pulling her hair back, Raven made her way out of the dorms and out towards the park. It was nice a crisp and she loved the weather. There weren't too many people out yet and she was enjoying the quiet sounds of birds chirping and squires bustling about. Granted ever since her powers surfaced she couldn't enjoy the chirping of birds without the chirps translating into words. She had to wait till they started singing. Which she was thankful that was what they were doing now.
Raven stopped by a coffee shop on her way to the park for a hot drink. A hot Chai Tea was one of her favorite teas for the morning, and all coffee shops had some. Raven sipped the hot liquid as she approached the park. She was a little shocked to see someone else there. She shook her head, she shouldn't expect to be the only one who wakes up early. She walked over to the picnic tables and took a seat. She took out a book from her bag and started to read but was soon distracted by the boy,
She was fascinated by what he was doing. She could never pull of such moves and it was impressive. She wondered if that was his ability or if he was naturally that agile. Something told her that it was an ability but anything was possible. She loved her own ability. There wasn't anything physical to it. She could catch things on fire or do any cool moves. But she still wouldn't trade her ability for anything. It is what got her through a really rough time and it fit her perfectly and fit what she wanted to do with her life almost too perfectly. She was slightly disappointed when he stooped working but decided that staring wasn't the best thing. Raven walked over to where he was hanging and smiled. "Good morning. Nice moves" She stated, hoping she didn't sound strange.

Gem smiled as he saw the dark haired girl approach him and waved. He was surprised he hadn't met her yet though he might have seen around school. Thanks. You should see my sick dance moves. He sat up from his hanging position, flipping his legs around so he was sitting on top of the monkey bars. He looked her up and down quickly so that it wasn't so obvious that he was checking her out. You have really pretty eyes. He said bluntly. It was never too early to lay on the charm and for Gem it was almost as natural as his power. See a girl, hit on her. He jumped down from the monkey bars landing on his feet with ease. My name is Gemini. What's yours?

Raven chuckled when he mentioned his dancing skills. "I can believe it" She stated with a grin. She didn't really know what to say when he commented on her eyes. She couldn't say she was used to flattery. She never really received any growing up with her mother but found that when she came to the school that changed very quickly. She wasn't sure if she would get used to it even if it was just someone flirting with her. Which she was usually oblivious to since she wasn't used to it. "Thanks" It was all she could think of saying. She wasn't sure if she should comment back or just leave it at that.
Watching as he jumped down with ease, it was easy to tell she was impressed. She was glad for the introduction, it put her mind on something else. "Raven. Well Ravenna but everyone calls me Raven. It's nice to meet you Gemini" She gave a charming smile, her voice sweet as usual. She was always nice and charming towards people and animals as well. It was just her personality.

He smiled to himself when he noticed that she was obviously impressed with his power. At least someone was these days everything with Becca and Rae had really thrown him off his game. Ravenna. A pretty name for a pretty girl, cool He said with his usual charming smile. Shoving his hands in the pockets of his sweats he started to head back to picnic table he had left his stuff at. The heat from his work out was starting to wear off and cool air on his bare chest was starting to make him cold. He shivered tucking his arms in against his body. It's nice to meet someone else with a unique name
He spun around on the heel of his foot walking backward so he could face her. what are you doing out here anyway? . He asked out of pure curiosity.

She figured if she was any other girl she would be head over heals for that charming smile. But, alas, she didn't fall for such charms so easily. Growing up with people who always acted charming towards others but then turned around and were vipers to others made her weary of a charming smile. Sure complements through her off but charming smiles always hid something. It was a strange way of thinking but it was just how her mind worked. She did admit that she liked the idea of knowing someone with a unique name as well. "Yes it is nice, meting someone with an interesting name. I quite like the name Gemini. It has a wonderful background not to mention a nice ring to it" Raven was lost in her own thoughts about the names.
She was brought back to the present when he asked her what she was doing out. "Enjoying the morning and the interesting conversation of the birds" Raven laughed at the last part. For her she was enjoying listening to the birds conversation but if someone didn't know that she understood animals then they might think she was talking about the bird songs. It was like a joke that only she knew. She looked over Gemini and realized that he was shivering a little. "Do you want to walk and talk so you are not as cold?" She asked with concern.

Thanks… My mom was really into astrology. He looked over his shoulder to make sure he wasn’t going to run into anything. He might have had an exceptional amount of grace but it’s not like he had eyes in the back of his head. Most people just call me Gem, you can use either it’s up to you.
He studied her for a minute when she mentioned that she had been enjoying the conversation of the birds. His eyes narrowed in confusion before it registered that, that was her power. He smiled at the concern on her face I have a jacket. He spun back around when he got to picnic table picking up the black hoodie and shrugging it on but only zipping it half way up. He reached for his coffee taking a sip though it was almost too cold to enjoy by this point. He hoisted his backpack over one of his shoulders. But I’d still be honored to walk and talk with you Raven, despite my body temperature. So what do the birds enjoy talking about? raising an eye brow at her.

Gem, she wondered if that was the same Gem Dani mentioned before. She was almost certain it was. How many guys had a name like Gem or Gemini? She was almost shocked that this was the first time she had met him but despite liking social gatherings she still didn't know a whole lot of people. She knew Ralph and Dani because they were in the same grade, so same classes more often than not. She wasn't sure if she should mention anything or just let the conversation play out. Raven decided not to say anything, she wanted to get an unbiased opinion of Gem. So far it was good, he was just a flirt and that wasn't a bad thing.
Raven started to walk in no general direction. What do the birds talk about? "Well when they aren't singing their conversation depend on the season. Right now it is all about the migration for those that do migrate. It is interesting hearing the older birds describe the destination to the new ones. They don't know our country names or borders so it can be fun trying to guess where they are going" Raven loved talking about animals and it was overly apparent in her voice. "What about you? Do you come here early often to practice?" She wanted to turn the conversation onto Gem.

He smiled as she talked about the birds. That's actually really interesting. All I hear is tweeting. His comment was sincere though. Most people assumed that because he was a player and a flirt that he was incapable of carrying on a sincere conversation.
He laughed Did you just ask me if I come here often? referencing the very cliché pick up line. He knew she hadn't meant it that way but he still found it amusing. Next You'll be asking me what my star sign is..but I bet you can guess that..
He fell in step next to her in her destination-less walking. Yeah sometimes or I find some buildings that are space fairly close together in town. Unfortunately for Gem his powers didn't include the ability to jump unnaturally long distances but his fitness level allowed him to jump an average length but his power allowed him to do so with ease the way a cat would. If it wasn't unethical it might have been able to be an Olympic gymnast if he wanted to.
So is it just birds or can you hear all animals?... and By the way, What's your sign? He asked with a small laugh.

"I guess I did" Raven laughed at her own naive self. Half the time Raven didn't know how her statements or questions would be perceived. She thought she was doing well with her communication skills. In the right situation her communication abilities were amazing. She always had the knack to make other happy or engaged by a few well placed words. She was glad he found her statement amusing and then it dawned on her that it was a very cliché statement. She was glad for the questions about her ability. It helped her keep her mind occupied. "It works for all animals. They are also wonderful conversationalist, well some of them are. It is interesting, they are more like people than anyone gives them credit" She could go on and on about animals. It was her favorite topic.
Her sign? Of all the years she spend isolated, she really didn't know what her sign was. She never really got into astrology. Astronomy was a different subject entirely. She enjoyed stargazing. It was a fun activity that could be done alone. "To be honest I don't know. Never really read up on the subject" She looked up at the sky as she walked, watching some birds flutter about. She figured she should ask something but wasn't sure what to ask.

It wasn't hard for Gem to make conversation, one reason is Gemini's are naturally social people, another was that it was essential in sweet talking girls. Though unlike when he was sweet talking some girl this time he was actually interested in what she said.
He thought it was odd that she didn't know her star sign it was generally one of those common things people knew just for the fun of knowing whether they believed it or not. He chose not to comment on it in the interest of being polite. Well when's your birthday?

ANY LONGER AND IT CAUSES MASSIVE HEADACHES, NOSE BLEEDS AND IN SOME CASES SHE WILL PASS OUT BUT THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN TILL THE TWO HOUR MARK. THE SIMPLER THE COMMAND THE EASIER IT IS TO CONTROL THE ANIMALS. RAVEN PREFERS TO JUST ASK THE ANIMAL IF THEY ARE WILLING TO DO SOMETHING RATHER THAN CONTROL THEM. IF HER CONCENTRATION IS BROKEN SHE LOOSES CONTROL.

Somebody shine a light i'm frozen by the fear in me
Favorite animal to talk to. That was a very hard question to answer. They were all interesting in their own way. She would have to admit she did have a pet she liked to talk more to than others. "If I had to choose it would me my pet snake. I have had him for years now so he is my closest companion. The cats are good company at times, but they can be really stuck up" Raven loved her cats but they were really self centered.
"October 31st" She stated happily. She loved her birthday being on Halloween. She might not have had a real celebration but she did have a couple good memories of the day. Most involved her brother giving her some thoughtful gift or taking her somewhere for the day to celebrate. It was always something fun and small but she didn't mind. It just meant someone cared. It had been a couple of years though. "But enough about me. You share something" Raven didn't like being the center of a conversation. To her both parties should share equally.

Gem has super human agility this allows him to have quicker than normal reactions to things. In battle it can aid him in reacting quickly to attack. He can also launch attacks quicker. His agility abilities have saved many plates and other items from falling on the floor and breaking. He can also use it to catch pretty girls from falling which is one of his favorite benefits.
Unfortunately it's more of a defensive power and so it's not as useful if he needs to do an offensive attack. Due to the fast speeds he can move at it can leave him open to making mistakes.

I've Been Jumping From the Tops of Buildings For the Thrill of the Fall
I could totally see cats being stuck up. I’m not really a fan of cats.. As they approached one of the fountains, Gem jumped up on the edge hands shoved in his pocket and paced back and forth using it like a balance beam.
Halloween, huh? That must be fun it’s like a designated party day. But that would make you a Scorpio. He tried to think back to everything his mom had rambled on about when it came to star signs. Water Sign, ruling planet Pluto, Passionate, Brave, Focused, Intuitive. Negative traits would be jealous, manipulative and, secretive. He said with a nod. That was about as much he remembered about Scorpios. Obviously that’s if you believe in all that
He dropped down off the edge of the fountain and sat down running his fingers through the water. Normally he had no problem talking about himself but lately he hadn’t really been himself. Uhm I like to party, and I’m sure you’ve heard about my reputation.

She watched him pace on the fountain as she sipped her still warm tea. It was a soothing drink and really lightened her spirits. Birthday discussions were not as bad as talking about her home life but it was still up there with the whole sad memories department. At least the party portion of it. The holiday portion was fun. "It can be when you actually have a party" Raven spoke without thinking. She was usually good about choosing her words carefully. She didn't sound upset, it was just another fact that she had grown accustomed to. That still didn't mean she wanted to tell a stranger that she never had a real birthday.
She did like the aspects of being a Scorpio. And even some of the negative traits fit her very well. Mainly the secretive portion and she figured she could be manipulative if she really tried, or wanted to. "It all sounds interesting. Might have to go look it up later" She smiled warmly. It was an interesting subject even if she didn't quite believe everything about it. Something fun she figured. Now his reputation is something she had heard of. "Yeah Dani did mention a 17 hour road trip. Though she only mentioned who and that it was ridiculously long and never to do something like that" Raven laughed. "And also other things that people say around school, but I never pay too much attention to that. Relying on rumors only leads to trouble" She stated more to herself than to Gem.

Gem couldn’t sit still, he had always had a problem sitting still. It had caused him a lot of problems in elementary school. He made figure 8’s in the water with his finger. You’ve never had a birthday? He couldn’t hide the shock on his face. He mentally kicked himself, I’m sorry that was rude. But We should throw you a birthday this year. I promise it will be one you won’t forget. He gave her a cheeky smile.
His hands were now freezing from the water and he shoved them into the pockets of his hoodie. He laughed when she made the comment about what Dani had said. He couldn’t hide the smile on his face as he thought back to their random trip to California. uhhuh Dani’s been talking about me huh? His tone was teasing. Though I can assure you everything you’ve heard is probably true. He said looking at her with a smirk. He hoped most of things she heard around school were that he was incredibly charming, hilarious, and kissed like a champ but it wouldn’t be surprising if it was that he was a player and the worst human being on the planet, it really just depended on which girl you talked to and how badly he’d done them.
