PERSONALITY | Becca tends to be a little bit of a contradiction some times, partly because she still hasn't completely figured out who she wants to be and partly because she's afraid of committing to one thing just to have it change. Consistency has been a big problem in her life and her personality seems to have just gone with the flow. Some times she enjoys being around people and being the silly center of attention, but only with her close friends and family members. Publicly she's pretty respectable and a rule follower. She sits at the back of the room whenever possible, but she is still there, no matter what. When it comes to love of any sort, she starts to shut down just a little bit. A deceased father and absentee mother, along with decently long line of ex boyfriends have taught her that she's not worth it, so why should she care? Her aunt is a completely different story though. The old lady taught her everything she knows and Becca loves her unconditionally for it. |

SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW
HISTORY | The first thing a parent should feel when they hold their child is love, not dread. However, for someone with the ability to sense death like Richard, that was exactly what happened. Becca was born on a rainy day in Wyoming and he put off holding the tiny baby for as long as he could. Finally, he gave up and touched her to reveal a fate better than he could have ever hoped for. As long as she stayed on a decent path in life and didn't do anything super crazy, she would die old and loved in her husband's arms. Unfortunately, Richard also predicted his own death for the first time that day while holding Becca. A large fire, only a few years away. His wife thought that he was either crazy or that the vision had something to do with their daughter. Either way, Teresa was already starting to show signs of being fed up with living around SPB's. Despite growing up in Calloway, Teresa knew relatively little about SPB's and how powers worked. Maybe that's why she blamed her seven year old child whenever the house burned down with her husband in it, claiming that the girl was a pyrokinetic. How else could she have survived the heat? Teresa didn't even care that there was a reasonable explanation like the heat resistant neighbor busting in at the last minute to save her little girl. She lit out of town almost as soon as Richard had been buried, leaving Becca in the care of some family member she barely knew. Old Aunt Ruth did the best she could for the sweet heart, but it just wasn't enough. The girl grew up confused and lonely, but somehow resilient enough to keep moving forward. On the weekends, Becca took on shifts at the old barbecue joint Ruth used to run and tried to make herself useful as soon as possible, right up until her powers manifested. In the greatest show of irony she had ever seen, Becca turned out to be hydrokinetic. A representative from the school was at her door less than an hour after she made the dish water rise up off of the floor and land back safely in the sink after a large spill. She was exhausted, but her aunt and a cousin helped her pack and sent her on her merry way. It wasn't like she couldn't visit them whenever she wanted to and she had been preparing to attend ashford most of her life. it was just down the street and most of her father's family had powers, so why not? Ever since then, she's made a point to visit her elderly aunt as many times a week as possible. She excels in most of her college work and has decided to become a teacher to help out in the school system whenever she graduates. Ashford might as well be home. |
ALL THE SMALL THINGS
POWER | hydrokinetic |
POWER DESCRIPTION | The ability to control water allows Becca to move water from place to place. She has a small range and doesn't pack much of a punch, as she can only get the water about five feet away from her body before it starts to slip away. She cannot generate her own water, but her recall is pretty fast, to the point that she can "make it rain" whenever she's feeling down or lonely by dropping small bits of water over her head repeatedly. Most of the time she just uses it for fun because it's relaxing, but in an emergency she's been known to put water around someone's face and hold it there as a threat of drowning. she'd never go that far, but it definitely is a good bluff. Using her power can be exhausting, especially if she tries to move too much. Becca's comfort zone is about two gallons of water, though she's picked up a considerable amount more than that before. Don't expect her to make waves or anything because it would probably kill her. |
SPECIAL ITEMS | Right before she moved in to the dorms, Aunt Ruth gave Becca a small, ornate flask that she keeps with her at all times. It is always filled with water and the lid actually has water in the top that she can twist as long as it is within her range. It's more defensive than anything else she owns, because Aunt Ruth is a paranoid old lady. |
