He enjoys being a side kick and making people laugh, and does everything he can to win someone over. He doesn't like being disliked and cares far too much about what others think of him. He enjoys keeping himself active, from sports to travel, and is proudly Hong Kongese both in his mannerisms and his styles, despite his mixed Canadian heritage. He is extremely inquisitive and doesn't like to leave puzzles unsolved or mysteries unanswered. A survivor, he adapts well to new situations and is always searching for the best place to catch a cityscape view or grab a coffee. He doesn't worry if something is a challenge or time consuming - the only measurement he cares about is just how much fun will he be having. |

SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW
HISTORY | Tyler was born and raised in Hong Kong, with only the occasional month-long stay in picturesque Vancouver, Canada. His parents met through friends, his father working his way up the corporate latter for a British bank and his mother a graduate student. It was an instant attraction and, just a few years later, came Tyler. Though he was certainly loved and never went for wanting, the busy schedule of both his parents meant Tyler was raised in parts by nannies and Au Pairs, the majority Chinese-speaking. Therefor even today, though he is fluent in English, he still makes mistakes. Attending private schools, Tyler learned to do enough work to please both his parents, but always preferred goofing off and having fun more than cracking open the books. Though his father constantly criticized him for not taking his studies more seriously, and his mother shook her had in a way that was disapprovingly approving, Tyler always found full support from his mother's father. A kind soul, Tyler's grandfather took every opportunity he could to spoil him. It was goofing off that had Tyler exposed as a SPB. Growing up in the enormous metropolis of Hong Kong meant the boy and his friends spent countless hours exploring back alleys and sneaking up skyscraper elevators. After one rather daring break-in, with the goal of just enjoying the stars forty stories up, Tyler and his gang of friends found themselves cornered by security guards - and only he was able to escape. By phasing right through the walls of the building. It was to his grandfather first that Tyler explained, in horrific detail, what had happened. Eventually they told his parents. Later, still, Ashford Academy came calling. |
ALL THE SMALL THINGS
POWER | INTANGIBILITY |
POWER DESCRIPTION | Tyler has the ability to phase through matter. His body produces a bio-electric field that encases a small area and then allows it to 'push' passed other molecules. This field acts like a second layer of skin and typically encases his entire body and the clothes he is wearing. This field ensures that the air inside his lunges and other foreign matter (such as lunch!) will stay with him as he passes through other objects. With intense concentration he can extend the field to encase other objects or people, though he must be touching them. Even with the air stored in his body protected, Tyler is unable to breath or speak when his field is active. This means if he were to try and stay continuously 'phased' through an object (such as hiding in a wall) he could only survive for as long as he could typically hold his breath. His body will typically carry his momentum with him when phasing, meaning that he is capable of 'running' through objects. His field will also 'bounce' against molecules as it pushes through them to either slow him down or control his ascent, and this is how his body prevents itself from continuously falling through the Earth. Phasing anything beyond his body and immediate attire is taxing, and Tyler rarely brings people along with him. Even to bring a backpack or laptop with him requires intense concentration. The more exhausted he is the more effort it takes to maintain the integrity of the field. If the field were to ever falter while he is phasing, the fear is that he would immediately become impaled by whatever it is he is passing through. |
SPECIAL ITEMS | Nothing particularly special, with the exception of his Canadian and Hong Kongese passports. |
