THERMAL MANIPULATION |
Xan can sense and manipulate temperatures around him. He can feel in a sense heat and coll temps from people and objects allowing him to almost see his surroundings. This is just natural and doesn't shut off. If there are too many of the same temperatures around him he can't always differentiate between the objects.
Manipulating temperatures takes focus and he can hold a temp for up to three hours as long as it doesn't exceed -20F point or 300F. Anything past that the length he can keep it up differs. He doesn't have to be in physical contact with what ever he is working with but does have to be withing three feet of it. He can heat up a 10ft radius of water as long as he is in the water. It seems that if he is in contact with water he can make the heat or cool temps travel further. If he is not concentrating it doesn't work and there is the chance of getting too hold or cold that it will burn or freeze him only when the temp is at a more extreme. Also it is stronger if he is in physical contact with the object.

Which is why when his powers did manifest he didn't notice at first. His family just thought it was just a way for his senses to compensate for him not seeing since no one else in the family showed traits, or had a history of abilities. Controlling temperature was really cool though and he did love it. Especially since it helped greatly with the whole cooking thing. He didn't even need an oven or stove sometimes. He took a bite of one of the dumplings not looking down at the tray. That was the one thing he never really did was attempt to look down at his food. Mainly out of habit he would just seem to look forward or towards the person he was with. It was the one odd thing he did because of being blind. He really had no reason to look down not like he was really looking. Because of that he usually had food that he could eat with his hands when he was out.
Xan listened to Issie give him some tidbits about herself. He grinned as he tried to figure out what was true and what wasn't. "Well I can't really tell your age so I will just have to trust that. And the only thing that I can deduce is the lying part so lets start with Photography. What do you like about the art form" Xan asked. It was the only thing he could see being true since she had a bright demeanor to her. Also he liked to listen to people describing art, any physical art forms. Mainly because he couldn't see it, listening to someone describing art, especially someone who truly loved the art did give him some sense of the art itself. The persons voice and descriptions could really bring out what he couldn't see.  She noticed how he didn't even glance down at his food, tilting her head with interest. She still didn't say anything, but she took the opportunity to observe him as they both ate in silence for a moment. He was very good with his hands, expertly tackling the dumpling without taking his eyes off her. It was weird, but pretty cool to observe. Her mind started reeling off ideas of how he could do that. Maybe his power gave him some kind of heightened sense of awareness, or maybe it was echolocation or something. Issie made a mental note to try making clicking noises to see if they'd distract him. Of course, there was always the possibility that he just had some weird natural ability to remember exactly where everything on the table before him was, like some strange heightened kind of object permanence. Whatever it was, it was pretty damn interesting.
She slurped down some more noodles before answering his question. It was hardly the most dignified food, but Issie had never really been one for dignified eating anyway. Her grin took its place as she turned to one of her favourite art forms. "Oh, dude, it's just so fun! It's like, you're capturing a moment, y'know. It's so pure and raw, and there's so much you can do with it. It's direct expression, as close as you can get to it. You're putting people right where you were and saying 'here, this is what I saw'." She was gesturing as she spoke, getting rather animated. "I'm not too into posed stuff, like portraits and stuff. It's like 'hey, I can see you're all having fun there, but would you mind pausing that so I can take a picture of all that fun you were having?' I'd rather just take the shot. So what if someone has a goofy look on their face? It's funnier that way anyway." She gave a little chuckle, calming herself down slightly. "So, yeah... I that's basically it. I'm more for the natural stuff, the way it makes you feel, and the stuff people can do with so little."

He could hear the excitement in her voice and it made him smile. Hearing someone talk about something they loved was always a great thing because no matter what someone did their voice heighten and there was always a smile. He might not be able to see a smile but he could hear one. "That sounds really amazing" He said when she finished. "It is cool that you have something like that, something you really care about and love doing. Wish I could see some of your work" Xander was being very sincere. There were many different downsides to being blind but nothing really bothered him much about it till it came to art. He would listen to people talking so passionately about an art they loved but he couldn't even give an opinion on it because he couldn't see it. Not that he would dwell on it very long. He knew there was nothing he could do about his eyesight and even if there was a way to make him see, Xan didn't think he would do it. Mainly because he was fully comfortable with not seeing that the idea of it was very foreign.
"So, obviously you have a very strong passion for photography, but what other activities do you like to partake in. Hobbies or just whatever" He asked wanting to get to know this girl a little bit more. He did feel somewhat bad for asking a bunch of question and not revealing anything about himself. She probably didn't pick up on the whole blind thing yet either. He wasn't against answering any inquirers if they were asked.

Issie let out a little chuckle, glad that her new dining buddy was enjoying her rather animated explanation. She tended to get quite into explaining things she enjoyed, and her hands were gesturing along with her words. It was a strange habit, really, since it never seemed to help people understand her, but it at least showed people that she was passionate about whatever she was describing, so her over-animation had some benefits at least. "My stuff is mostly just random stuff I've noticed while I'm out places, but I can still show you some of it some time." she flashed him a smile, glad to have sound someone who appreciates her rambling and love of expression.
She didn't hesitate for a moment before jumping on his question, eager to respond and continue on the conversation. "Man, photography is only like, a tiny bit of what I do. I love it all: art, music, movies, tv, whatever. Books, games, stuff like that. I just love seeing what people come up with, y'know?" Her arms were moving in time with her speech again, but she did manage to slow them down enough to secure a little more of her meal, pausing to eat before continuing. "I'm a girl of many tastes, even if I'm not all that amazing at any of them. It's all fun though, doesn't matter if you're not the best." In truth, Issie would have liked to be a little more specialised in her skills, but she couldn't help her broad range of interests, and at the very least it kept her from getting bored.

He knew that it would be a difficult feat to accomplish having him see the work. Though with all the SPB's around maybe there was someone with an ability to mentally project images so he could "see" the art in his head. That would be really cool. He was always a good listener and found it really interesting that she had so many interests. There were always people would loved multiple things but he had yet to meet someone who didn't focus on just one interest.
"That's awesome to have so many interest and talents. I think it would be really cool to be able to do so much. I only have a couple interest that I really love. Other than that you certainly have me beat on talent" Xander joked. Sure there were things that he could never do because of not being able to see. That didn't stop him from doing what he loved like cooking and playing basketball. He loved sports but being in a team could be difficult. Cooking though was the one thing that seemed to not matter if he could see or not. His powers really helped him out in that field. It only made things easier. He would never trade his power, not even for the ability to see.

It was pretty unusual to get talking to a guy just because you needed some change and then have him buy you dinner and start chatting about your interests... hell, that was the kind of dating setup that you usually saw in bad romcoms, which Issie definitely wasn't a fan of. But hey, stranger things have happened, and she got to meet a cool guy who gave her a free meal, so she was hardly complaining. He was easy to talk to, and seemed to be pretty ok with her just talking about her interests. She wasn't planning on making the whole conversation about her, but she was thankful that he let her go on about whatever she felt like. It might sound selfish, but Issie didn't like having her flow broken by someone constantly responding to what she was saying. It was fine if they were sharing in her interests and providing something to answer back to, but just speaking up to say 'yeah, me too' could get pretty irritating.
Xander wasn't like that, though. He was patient, letting her speak until she trailed off, and thankfully seeming to enjoy listening to her. "I'm not super talented," she continued, responding to his comment. "I mean, I guess I'm better than average, but I'm no prodigy or anything. I just like a lot of things, you know? You're probably better than me at more than you think." She gave him a smile, pausing to polish off another dumpling. "Speaking of, what might that couple of interests be, hm? Anything special? Fancy, even?" She leaned in slightly over the table, interested to hear him speaking about something he was passionate about.

It wasn't like he was trying to turn it into a cliche, it just kind of happened that way. But it could have turned out really bad or just awkward. But for the most part it seemed alright. Xander didn't mind listening to her speak. If anything he found it entertaining. She was very energetic and he could tell by her voice and could sense the random arm waving though his ability. It was nice to have a normal conversation with no awkward silences or odd conversations. If anything it was quite pleasant. He didn't mind these conversations because not only was he making a new friend in the process, he was being treated just like everyone else.
"So what is interesting about me, hum....besides my charm and good looks" Xander joked as he acted like he was thinking really hard on the subject. The really funny thing about was he really had no idea what he actually looked like. Sure he knew he was fit, but he didn't know specific features. "Nah, seriously though I am a fairly typical guy. Love sports, not that I'm really good at them. Would have to say my favorite thing to do is to cook. I want to open up a restaurant one day, if I can stop randomly cutting myself while handling the knives" He chuckled at the last part. It was quite often that he would injure himself in the process of making meals. He was still working on that and really need to get some new tools that were more adaptive to his own ability.
