THERMAL MANIPULATION |
Xan can sense and manipulate temperatures around him. He can feel in a sense heat and coll temps from people and objects allowing him to almost see his surroundings. This is just natural and doesn't shut off. If there are too many of the same temperatures around him he can't always differentiate between the objects.
Manipulating temperatures takes focus and he can hold a temp for up to three hours as long as it doesn't exceed -20F point or 300F. Anything past that the length he can keep it up differs. He doesn't have to be in physical contact with what ever he is working with but does have to be withing three feet of it. He can heat up a 10ft radius of water as long as he is in the water. It seems that if he is in contact with water he can make the heat or cool temps travel further. If he is not concentrating it doesn't work and there is the chance of getting too hold or cold that it will burn or freeze him only when the temp is at a more extreme. Also it is stronger if he is in physical contact with the object.

FLY ME TO THE MOON let me play among the stars |
Xan was standing in the impressive kitchen as he carefully chopped up some tomatoes for the Bruschetta he was making to go with the light garlic with pasta that was cooking on the stove. Cooking was his favorite past time and since he could manipulate temperatures he could always regulate the food to be the perfect temperature to cook right. Also being around all the different temperatures of the kitchen made sensing his surroundings that much easier. He relied on sound, and smell often and his blindness never really got in the way of cooking.
The only thing that made a carrier as a professional chef just out of his reach was presentation. He didn't care what the food looked like as long as it tasted good. That and he couldn't see how the food looked, and looks were everything in this day in age. That still didn't stop the man form doing what he loved. Xander never let being blind deter him from doing things just like everyone else.
He kept working as he heard someone else enter the kitchen. "Hey there!" He stated making sure the new comer knew he was in there and that he noticed them. It was a habit of his to make sure his presence in a room was know mainly so they would know that someone who couldn't see them was moving about. It was out of courtesy to the other person than his own enjoyment. It was something that his grandma drilled into his head at a young age. | wearing THIS lovely outfit |

WORD COUNT: 359 // TAGGED: XANDER REMIEL KNIGHT Robin had been, in equal parts, dreading this and looking forward to it. On one hand, she was going to attempt to do something she had no experience with and would probably not be good at. On the other hand, she was going to be trying something new that was a pretty important skill. And she did wonder if maybe, just maybe, it would be fun.
She pulled out her phone as she walked into the kitchen, pulling up the recipe she had saved before taking a moment to look at the kitchen, a place she'd never been before. It was then, before she got a chance to observe her surroundings, that she heard an unfamiliar voice call, "Hey there!" She looked to the source of the noise and saw that the kitchen was already occupied. For a moment, she considered that she'd been mistaken for someone else, before realizing that he was probably just being friendly.
She returned the greeting with a less friendly "Hey." and walked over to a an empty space in the kitchen before turning her eyes back to her phone and the simple recipe she'd picked: spaghetti. The tomato sauce, of course, canned. It seemed simple enough, despite Robin's complete lack of experience in the culinary arts. Boil the noodles, preferably with a bit of salt and butter, and pour the heated tomato sauce over it.
After putting the noodles to boil, a simple and self explanatory task, she looked at the can of spaghetti and wondered how exactly she was supposed to heat this up. She remembered a firm warming about never putting metal in the microwave, so she supposed that wouldn't do. Could she just plop he can on a stove top? That seemed ridiculous. She glanced over at the kid who'd been there when she came in. She didn't like asking for help, especially for something that would seem as stupid as this, but she figured it was better to ask than to sit there, watching the can on her stove top.
"Hey. Person in the hoodie." She called over to him, "Any chance you know how to heat up canned tomato sauce?" NOTES: I originally was thinking 'Rob took care of her siblings for like half her life she knows how to cook' and then I thought harder and realized that unless she was specifically trying to learn how to cook, she wouldn't know much about cooking at all.

FLY ME TO THE MOON let me play among the stars |
Xan continued with his work as he listened closely to where the other person was in the kitchen based on any sounds she was making from her walking to the messing with the pots. He figured she was female from her voice when she answered him. He didn't recognize her voice though so it was someone he had yet to meet. Xan strained his noodles and placed them in a bowl and tossed it with his garlic sauce before placing it on a plate and finishing the Bruschetta.
He had to hold back a laugh when she asked him how to heat up tomato sauce. "Open the can and pour the sauce in a pot on the stove or in a microwave safe container and heat it up that way" He responded as he placed some Italian bread in the oven to toast. "Name is Xander by the way. I don't usually go by what I am wearing but I might try that one day. Sounds entertaining" Xan laughed. He always liked to joke around even if some others didn't really care for it.
"If you want to give it some good flavor add salt, pepper, little oregano and garlic will really help. Unless you prefer it plain" He suggested. Caned sauce was usually bland to the taste and Xan always added something to it to give it some flavor. Anything helped. | wearing THIS lovely outfit |

WORD COUNT: 250 // TAGGED: XANDER REMIEL KNIGHT At his words, Robin started rummaging through doors for a can opener. After a few failed attempts, she found one, then noticing that the man was saying something else. She made a bit of a huffing noise when he laughed, responding, "Robin, myself." Then she grinned a bit. "But I prefer 'person with the cool hair'." She joked, picking up the can and cutting it open with the can opener, following his instructions and dumping it into a pot, which she set on the stove and turned the heat to low, hoping to avoid asking too many more questions.
She tuned in again as she heard his voice pop back up. Spices, huh? She thought, but following his instructions began to hunt around in the upper drawers for the named ingredients. Salt and pepper were out on the counter, but garlic and oregano had to be somewhere up in this cabinet, where she'd found what looked like a billion spices. As she began her search for the two she was looking for, she remembered something. "Thanks."
She finally found the garlic - in power form - and a few minutes later the oregano. Jeez, this place had a lot of these plastic bottles filled with powers and bits of dried leaves. She set them both on the counter and sprinkled in cautiously small amount of each thing, not wanting to overdo it - after all, she figured she could always add more, but taking anything out would not be a good time. NOTES: I spent like two hours writing this because I got called away to do approximately five different things in the middle of it.

FLY ME TO THE MOON let me play among the stars |
Xander finished up his meal and placed everything on a plate. The tomato mix was all over the toasted bread and the pasta. The plate was a mess, there was no other way to describe it. He figured he should go into the dining room to eat his food but that was always a hassle. Instead he cleaned up real quick with the pots and such, throwing them into the dishwasher before grabbing a fork and taking a bit of his creation.
"Well person with cool hair, you are welcome" He joked back. Too bad he couldn't see what she was talking about. He usually kept his hair shaved or really short. Mainly because he could never style it and make it look right. Also it just became an Afro when grown out thanks to his fathers side. He didn't care, if anything he loved his family. They were always supportive, caring and he still called and visited them often. He had heard of other families taking advantage of their kids powers or hated them because of it. He always felt privileged to be brought up in a family that treated him right.
Xan remembered that he needed to put the knife that he was using up. He reached out to where he remembered it was but it wasn't there. Did he move it. He couldn't sense it because it was the same temperature as the counter. He didn't want to to stumble around trying to find it. "Hey did you happen to see where I set the knife down?" He asked Robin.

WORD COUNT: 206 // TAGGED: XANDER REMIEL KNIGHT Robin switched between stirring the sauce and the noodles. She knew neither needed the near-constant attention - well, she presumed, not knew - but didn't want to stand around awkwardly waiting for it to finish. Xander seemed like a nice person, but she still didn't want to draw out their conversation too much. She was reminded, for a few moments, of her mother cooking at home. She wasn't usually there to see her mother cook, slipping out of the house with her siblings, but she remembered it from when she was younger.
Her mother had cooked every meal. Robin couldn't remember not enjoying a meal. To this day, she still wondered if her mother loved cooking or thought that good food would keep her bad tempered husband happy. Robin hoped it was the former explanation, as she always worked hard on lunches for her kids. Robin was pulled from memory lane by Xander's voice. She set down the spoon and turned to face him, taking a moment to register what he said before peering around a bit.
She spotted a knife, but to her it seemed to be in far too clear of view to be lost. Still, she asked, "Is that it?" and pointed towards the knife. NOTES: Hahaha oblivious Robin is oblivious. He can probably tell where's she'd pointing because of body temperature, though.

Xan could sense people because of body head and when they moved around but he couldn't pinpoint where they were gesturing and things like that. He knew if someone was about to touch him because he could sense the heat getting closer to him. Being his goofball self he couldn't help but laugh when she asked her question about the knife.
"Sorry that was rude. Just I don't know if it is" He figured she didn't notice he was blind. Granted he never gave away any notion that he was. He was very independent and didn't need is cane all the time. Also he made it a point to act like any normal person. It was just who he was. He didn't want his blindness hinder how people saw him or even how he did things. It was just a part of who he was.
"You see I can sense you there and I can tell your arm is extended but other than that I can't see you or where you are pointing. Little issue with sight" Xan took out his folded up cane and waved it over his head for a second before putting it back in his hoodie pocket. He had no problem joking about being blind. If he couldn't laugh about his own predicament then it would have been a very bleak life for the boy.

WORD COUNT: 244 // TAGGED: XANDER REMIEL KNIGHT Robin scowled at his laughter, which she presumed was at her and got ready to snap a sharp "What's so funny?" at him, but he spoke before she could. At his words, the scowl turned into a confused frown. What do you mean you 'don't know'? She thought, but didn't voice it. As he continued, Robin took a few moments to get it. By the time we was waving his cane overhead, it finally got though.
Oh. Oh. The surprise of this temporarily threw her, figuratively, off balance. "Oh, uh... D-damn, I'm sorry, I didn't think-" She stumbled over her words for a bit before partially regaining her verbal footing. "The knife I saw is on the counter in front of you, about... a foot in and a bit to your left." She explained, not wanting to focus too much on his blindness and what she figured was at best a poor reaction on her part - though probably not the worst he'd ever gotten. She hoped that it was best to push onward and not linger on it - Hell, if I were blind, I wouldn't want to sit down and have a conversation about it with a stranger. She thought.
Her hand combed through her hair, pushing it off her forehead. It was a bit of a nervous tick, though none too obvious. Especially not very obvious to a blind guy, she thought, before mentally scolding herself because that was not a nice thought. NOTES:

Xan shook his head, "Hey no harm done. Don't worry about it. If I got all bent every time someone didn't notice I wouldn't be the charming, charismatic person I am today" He joked as he followed her instructions as to where the knife was. He was careful as he reached for it making sure not to cut himself. It wouldn't be the first time though.
"Yep that's it thanks!" He stated as he picked up the utensil and went to put it in the dishwasher. "The sauce is starting to smell good. How did it turn out?" He asked changing the conversation to something lighter. He walked back over to his plate and took a bite of the pasta. He smiled, perfect as usual. It was a dish he made often.
He realized the toast had gotten cold. He took a bite using his ability to make the toast warm again. That was one of the best perks of the ability beside using it to "see". He was a personal microwave that also cooled things to perfection. | wearing THIS lovely outfit |

WORD COUNT: 173 // TAGGED: XANDER REMIEL KNIGHT Robin relaxed a bit at his words, though since she tried not to show it. Then she wondered why she did that. He was blind, after all. She could do just about anything. That doesn't mean you should. She told herself sternly, and resisted the temptation to make a weird face or a rude gesture, instead turning back around to stir the sauce some more. It looked like the dish was done, and when she checked the time ti concurred. She streamed the noodles - at this point responding to his thanking with a simple "No problem." - and poured them into a bowl, than pouring the sauce over them.
She had expected him to leave, but wasn't too surprised when he piped up again from behind her. Swirling a fork around and pulling a few noodles to her mouth, she contemplated the taste. It was.... better than she'd expected, by a lot, though it couldn't compare to the expertly seasoned dishes her mother made. "It's good." She said. "What's that thing you made?" NOTES:

FLY ME TO THE MOON let me play among the stars |
Going through public school he knew there were kids that would make fun of him or do things in front of him that he wouldn't notice because he couldn't see. He didn't care though. For Xan if kids didn't tease then it meant they felt pity. He rather them treat him just like everyone else than have their pity because of the way he was born. Xander was a very popular kid though, got along with just about everyone and always willing to pull a prank or two. He didn't have much issue with bullies. But he knew there were still the few. Even his friends do it from time to time but he knows they are just messing around.
Xan grinned when she stated that it was good. He was all for helping someone out. It was a good way to make friends and also he liked to lay down some charm every once in a while. He perked up when asked about his dish. "It's a light garlic and herb pasta with Bruschetta. Here have some, I don't mind" Xan offered gesturing to the plate. | wearing THIS lovely outfit |

WORD COUNT: 181 // TAGGED: XANDER REMIEL KNIGHT Robin frowned at his offer. "No thanks." She replied, leaving it at that as she started to eat her own food. Perhaps that response was rude - regardless of it having a thanks, it wasn't spoken kindly and lacked any sort of explanation. Of course, the reason she has turned down his offer was simple. She just didn't want to have any of his dish. Regardless of how good a cook he may have been - his advice on the herbs earlier had been helpful - she was simply not interested, and not interested in pretending she was interested.
She ate quickly by habit and caught herself shoveling spoonfuls into her mouth - figuratively, mind you. She was a about to slow herself down when she remembered, again, that this kid was blind. And unlike everyone else who her parents had told her 'do not want to see you eating like a pig' he couldn't see her eating like a pig. Maybe spending more time with this guy wouldn't be too bad, if she could get away with social norms this easily. NOTES: Sorry, this was a bit rushed. Disn't have a lot of time.

He didn't find her declining his offer to be rude. He was a very easy going person and didn't take many things people said too personal. "More for me" He joked and finished his lunch. Xan cleaned off his plate and transferred it to the dishwasher. He then proceeded to put things away. It was kind of easy for him since he knew the layout of the kitchen very well. That was the first thing he did when arriving to the school. He got a full feel of the layout so he could always manage without any help.
"You got to let me make you something some time. I love testing out new dishes but need honest people to criticize it" Xan stated using his charming demeanor and classic smile. | wearing THIS lovely outfit |

WORD COUNT: 148 // TAGGED: XANDER REMIEL KNIGHT Her fork scraped the bottom as she twirled it, catching most of the remaining sauce covered noodles, and the next time it came down into the bowl it lifted the three remaining noodles - limply draped over the fork's prongs - up to her mouth. As her hunger from earlier ebbed, her temperament improved. She watched him put his finished dish into washing machine and, after, rinsing out the bowl, followed suit, and then continued to copycat by cleaning up and putting away the things she'd been using.
His offer gave her pause to think. On one hand, it would mean further interaction with him which she was still pretty uncertain about, On the other hand, free good food was unusual. In the end, it wasn't a very hard decision. "I'm not exactly an expert food critic, but sure, I guess."
What a decisive answer. She thought to herself sarcastically. NOTES: n/a
